< Luke 14 >

1 Sabbath nyn hypoet awh, Jesu taw Farasi a hqamca thlang pynoet a im awh buh ai na cet hy, cawh Jesu ce ngaihtaak doena doen uhy.
And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath, that they watched him.
2 Ce a hun awh a haiawh ak phoen tawng nawh ak hling thlang pynoet ce awm hy.
And behold, there was a certain man before him who had the dropsy.
3 Jesu ing Farasikhqi ingkaw anaa awi ak sim thlangkhqi ce doet khqi hy, “Sabbath nyn awh thlak tlo qoei sak ve ak ciim nu, amak ciim nu?” tinak khqi hy.
And Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?
4 Cehlai cekkhqi ing ikaw awm ap kqawn pe uhy. Cedawngawh Jesu ing cawhkaw thlak tlo ce tu nawh a qoei sak coengawh tyi hy.
And they held their peace. And he took [him] and healed him, and let him go;
5 Cekcoengawh cekkhqi venawh, “Nangmih ak khuiawh kaw thlang pynoet oet a ca aw, vaitaw mai aw Sabbath nyn awh lawk-kqawng khuina ang tlaak mantaw, am namik dawk hly nawh nu?” tinak khqi hy.
And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not forthwith pull him out on the sabbath?
6 Cawh ikaw awm ap kqawn uhy.
And they could not answer him again to these things.
7 Buh veelnaak kungawh thlangkhqi ing ngawihdoelh ak sang sang amik tyk ce a huh awh, vawhkaw nyhtahnaak awi ve kqawn pehy:
And he put forth a parable to those who were invited, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying to them,
8 Thlang ing buh ai na anik khy khqi awh, ngawihdoelh sang ce koeh tyk uh, nangmih anglakawh thlang qypawm ngai ce buh ai na khy hly mai hy.
When thou art invited by any [man] to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room, lest a more honorable man than thou be invited by him;
9 Cemyihna a awm mai mantaw, imkung na venawh, ‘Nang ngawihnaak awh ve ak thlang ve ngawih sak’ ni tina kaw. Cawhtaw chah doena ngawihnaak ak nem awh ngawi zawk ka kawp ti.
And he that invited thee and him, shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
10 Cedawngawh thlang ing buh ai na anik khy awh, ngawihnaak ak nem soeih awh ngawi mai, cawh ni imkung ce a law awh na venawh, “Ka pyi ngawihnaak ak leek awh ngawi,” a haiawh kqihchahnaak ce na huh hly. Cawh buh ai na ak lawkhqi boeih a haiawh kqihchahnaak ce na huh hly.
But when thou art invited, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have honor in the presence of them that sit at table with thee.
11 U awm amah ingkaw amah ak zoeksang qu taw ak kaina nung tla kaw, cehlai ak kaina ak awmkhqi ing zoeksangnaak ce hu kawm uh,” tinak khqi hy.
For whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
12 Jesu ing imkung a venawh, “Khawnghyp awh aw, am awhtaw khawmy ben awh aw thlang buh ai na nak khy awhtaw, na pyikhqi, na naakhqi ingkaw na cakaw paqengkhqi koeh khy; nak khy mantaw, cekkhqi ingawm buh ai na nik khy lawt kawm usaw ni thung hlyk tlang uhy.
Then said he also to him that invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor [thy] rich neighbors; lest they also invite thee again, and a recompense be made thee.
13 Cedawngawh thlang buh ai na nak khy awh, hahqahkhqi, khawk khem khqi, khawkzui khqi ingkaw mikhypkhqi ce khy kawp ti,
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 cawhtaw zoseennak hu kawm uk ti. A mingmih ing amni thung lawk khqi qoe seiawm, thlakdyngkhqi thawh tlaihnaak khawnghi awh ni thung law tlaih kaw,” tina hy.
And thou shalt be blessed: for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
15 Cawhkaw awi ce amah cawh amah ing anik ngawi haih thlang pynoet ing ang zaak awh Jesu a venawh, “Khawsa qam khuiawh poei buh veelnaak kung awh ak pa kawi thlang taw a zoseen hy,” tina hy.
And when one of them that sat at table with him heard these things, he said to him, Blessed [is] he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Jesu ing, “Thlang pynoet ing poei ak bau soeih sai nawh buh ak ai na thlang khawzah ce khy hy.
Then said he to him, A certain man made a great supper, and invited many:
17 buh ainaak tym a pha awh imkung ing buh ai na ak khy thlangkhqi venawh a tyihzawih thlang ce tyi nawh khy sak hy, ‘law lah uh, ik-oeihkhqi coeng boeih hawh hy,’ tinak khqi hy.
And sent his servant at supper-time, to say to them that were invited, Come, for all things are now ready.
18 Cehlai cekkhqi boeih ing ami peelnaak lam ce sui boeih uhy. Lamma cyk thlang ing, ‘lo thlai thai nyng saw, toek lah vang nyng. Ni hlah mai cang,’ tina hy.
And they all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 Ak chang pynoet bai ing, ‘Vaitaw bawh nga thlai nyng saw, noek a dak lah vang nyng. Ni hlah mai cang,’ tina bai hy.
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 Pynoet bai ing, ‘kai zu lo thai nyng saw, am law hly thai nyng,’ tina hy.
And another said, I have married a wife: and therefore I cannot come.
21 A tyihzawih ce law nawh a boeipa a venawh ce mihkhqi boeih ce kqawn pehy. Cawh imkung ce ak kaw so nawh a tyihzawih a venawh ‘Khawmdek khuina kaw lampyi ingkaw lamkel awh ang tawnna cet nawhtaw khawdeng hahqahkhqi, khawk khemkhqi, mikhyp khqi ingkaw khawkzui khqi ce law pyi,’ tina hy.
So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 A tyihzawih ing, ‘Bawipa, awi nani peek amyihna sai hawh hlai nyng, a hun hoeng toeng toeng hyn hy,’ tina hy.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 Cawh Bawipa ing a tyihzawih a venawh, ‘lampyi ak bau ingkaw lam ak cawng ak kekhqi na ce cet nawhtaw na huh a saqui ce lawpyi kawp ti, cawh ni ka im awh a be hly hy.
And the lord said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel [them] to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 Ka nik kqawn peek, kak thlang ceikhqi ak khuiawh kaw thlang pynoet ca ingawm ka poei buh ve am tan kaw,’ tina hy.
For I say to you, that none of those men who were invited, shall taste my supper.
25 Thlang khawzah Jesu a hu awh bat unawh khin na cet haih uhy, cekkhqi venawh Jesu ing:
And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said to them,
26 U awm ka venawh law nawh a nu ingkaw a Pa, a zucakhqi, a koeinu koeinaakhqi boeih, amah a hqingnaak ha awm – a mak sawhnaak thlang taw kai a hubat na am awm thai kaw.
If any [man] cometh to me, and hateth not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 U awm amah a thinglam ce kawt nawh kai a hu awh amak bat taw kai a hubat na am coeng thai hy.
And whoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 Nangmih ak khuiawh thlang pynoet ing ip sang sak aham ngaih lah seh. Anih ing ngawi lamma cang nawh a saknaak khoek tangka a taak ingkaw ama taak am nym am nai hly ma nawh nu?
For which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he hath [sufficient] to finish [it]?
29 Ak poek ma kaana tung ce ling sawhqat bai seiawm im ce amak coeng lawk awhtaw, ak hu saqui ing qaih na kawm uh,
Lest perhaps after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish [it], all that behold [it] begin to mock him,
30 ‘Ve ak thlang ing im taw sa mylyk lawt nawh, ak coeng na awm ap coeng lak law hy,’ tina kawm uh.
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Kqawnnaak mai awh sangpahrang pynoet taw a qaal sangpahrang ing tuk qu aham cai lah seh. Ngawi lamma cang nawh, a qaal ben awhkaw thlang thongkul amah ben awhkaw thlang thonghqa ing a tuk thai hly ingkaw ama tuk thai hly ce poek lamma kaana awm kawm nu?
Or what king going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Ama tuk thai hly mantaw, a qaalkhqi lam na ami law hui awh, dyihthing tyi nawh qoepnaak ce sai kaw.
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an embassy, and desireth conditions of peace.
33 Cemyih lawtna, u awm ik-oeih soepkep amak cehtaak thai taw kai a hubat na am kawih hy.
So likewise, whoever he is of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34 Ci taw leek hy, cehlai alnaak ce a paih mantaw ikawmyihna nu a alnaak thai tlaih kaw?
Salt [is] good: but if the salt hath lost its savor, with what shall it be seasoned?
35 Dek leek na awm am awm nawh, vaitaw pana a ek anglakawh za am leek kaw; khawng aham doeng na ni a awm hawh hy. U awm zaaknaak haa ak ta ingtaw za seh,” tinak khqi hy.
It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill, [but] men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
