< Jakob 2 >

1 Ka koeinaakhqi, ningnih a Bawipa Jesu Khrih ak cangnaak thlangkhqi na nami awm dawngawh, thlang a mikhaai koeh toek uh.
My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord] of glory, with respect of persons.
2 Tinaak maiawh, nangmih pynoet na naming cun awh sui kut cabyn byn nawh suibai ak leek ing ak thoeihcam qu thlang ce law mai lah seh, cawh suibai ak che ca ak bai thlang pynoet kun law lawt lah seh.
For if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, and there come in also a poor man in vile clothing;
3 Suibai ak leek ing ak thoeihcam qu thlang ce mik lyl na u tiksaw, “Vawhkaw ngawihnaak leek awh ngawi,” nami tinaak coengawh khawdeng hahqah thlang a venawh, “Nang taw cena a nang dyi mai,” aw am awhtaw ka khawkung dek awh ngawi mai,” nami tinaak mantaw,
and ye have regard to him that weareth the fine clothing, and say, Sit thou here in a good place; and ye say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or sit under my footstool;
4 na mimah ak khuiawh peknaak ak sai, kawpoek amak leek ak pekkung na am nami awm nawh nu?
do ye not make distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 Ka lungnaak koeinaakhqi, ngai lah uh: khawmdek mik huh awh hahqah na awm hlai hy cangnaak awh ak boei nawh, amah ing lungna nawh awitaak qam pang aham ak awm thlangkhqi ce Khawsa ing am tyk hy nak ti nu?
Hearken, my beloved brethren; did not God choose them that are poor as to the world [to be] rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?
6 Cehlai nangmih ingtaw hahqah thlangkhqi the a kha na uhyk ti. Boeikhqi ing ni nangmih awi dengnaak kung na a ni sawi khqi ka ti my?
But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment-seats?
7 Nangmih a nik ta khqi kung ang ming ak sang soeih ce a mingmih ing ni ak che na a mik kqawn ka ti my?
Do not they blaspheme the honorable name by which ye are called?
8 Cakciim awh ak awm anaa awi, “Namah a pum amyihna na imceng thlang ce lungna lawt,” tice nami hquut tang tang awhtaw, ik-oeih dyng ak sai thlang na awm uhyk ti.
Howbeit if ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well:
9 Cehlai thlang a mikhaai nami toek mantaw, thawlhnaak ak sai na awm u tiksaw anaa awi ing anaa awi ak hqekungkhqi na ni tak khqi nawn hawh hy.
but if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
10 Ikawtih u awm anaa awi hquut boeih hlai hy. Pynoet doeng ca awm a ma sai awhtaw ak changkhqi boeih awm ak hqekung na awm hawh hy.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one [point], he is become guilty of all.
11 Ikawtih, Koeh samphaih, ak tikung ing, Thlang koeh him, ti bai hy. Am samphaih hlai hyk ti thlang na him awhtaw, nang taw anaa awi ak hqekung na awm hyk ti.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou dost not commit adultery, but killest, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12 Loetnaak ak pekung anaa awi ing awi a deng hly kawi thlang amyihna awi kqawn unawh ik-oeih sai uh,
So speak ye, and so do, as men that are to be judged by a law of liberty.
13 kawtih qeennaak amak ta thlangkhqi taw qeennaak taak kaana awidengnaak hu lawt kaw. Qeennaak ing awidengnaak ce noeng hy!
For judgment [is] without mercy to him that hath showed no mercy: mercy glorieth against judgment.
14 Koeinaakhqi, thlang ing cangnaak ta nyng ti hlai hy sainaak ama taak awhtaw, ikaw hawihkhangnaak a awm? Cemyih cangnaak ing ak hul hly nu?
What doth it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but have not works? can that faith save him?
15 Tinaak mai awh koeinaa pa awm nu awm suibai ingkaw awk a ai a taak kaana awm lah seh.
If a brother or sister be naked and in lack of daily food,
16 Nangmih ak khuiawh thlang pynoet ing, Sadip na cet hlah; a awihpyt na awm nawhtaw nak phoen phyi seh nyng,” tina seitaw pumsa awh a kyk ngaihnaak ikaw awm a peek kaana a tyih mantaw ikaw hawihkhangnaak a awm kaw?
and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Cemyih koep lawtna, cangnaak ce amah doeng awm hqoeng nawh, sainaak ing a mak bawng awhtaw thi hy.
Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.
18 Thlang pynoet ing, Nang ing cangnaak ta hyk ti; kai ing sainaak ta nyng,” ti lah seh. Sainaak amak awm cangnaak ce nim huh lah, cawhtaw cangnaak ce sainaak ing dang law sak lawt vang.
Yea, a man will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from [thy] works, and I by my works will show thee [my] faith.
19 Khawsa pynoet awm hy tice cangna uhyk ti. Nep hy! Qaaikhqi ingawm cangna unawh – thyn uhy.
Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and shudder.
20 Nang thlakqaw, sainaak amak awm cangnaak taw phu am tahy tice huh sak aham nak ngaih nu?
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is barren?
21 Ningmih a pakdam Abraham ing bawkthang awh a capa Isaak a nawnnaak ak caming ni thlakdyng ang mingnaak ka ti my?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Ak cangnaak ingkaw a sainaak ce pynoet na ak bawng a dawngawh, ak cangnaak ce a sainaak ing soep sak hy.
Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect;
23 Cedawngawh, Abraham ing Khawsa cangna nawh, cawhkaw ak cangnaak ce dyngnaak na taak pehy,” tinaak cauk awi soep hy, anih ce Khawsa a pyi tinawh khy uhy.
and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God.
24 Cangnaak doeng kaana ik-oeih sainaak ing thlang ing dyngnaak hu hy tice hu hawh uhyk ti.
Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.
25 Cemyih lawtna, a pum ak zawi nu Rahab zani lapzamkhqi ami law awh a im awh awm sak khqi nawh lap chang benna kawng a tyih tlaih a dawngawh ni a sainaak ce dyngnaak na a noet peek ka ti my?
And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?
26 Myihla amak awm pum taw a thih amyihna sainaak amak awm cangnaak awm thi lawt hy.
For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
