1 Israel manghai David capa Solomon kah he,
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 cueihnah ming sak ham neh ol yakmingnah te yakming sak ham thuituennah la om.
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 Thuituennah la loh ham neh duengnah, tiktamnah neh vanatnah te aka cangbam sak la om.
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
4 Camoe hlangyoe taengah mingnah neh thuepnah, khinglangnah aka pae la om.
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 Aka cueih loh hnatun saeh lamtah rhingtuknah la thap thil saeh, aka yakming loh a niing la hol saeh.
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
6 Aka cueih rhoek kah, nuettahnah olka neh amih kah olkael aka yakming sak la om.
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 BOEIPA hinyahnah tah cueihnah, mingnah a tongnah la om tih aka ang loh thuituennah a hnoelrhoeng.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
11 “Kaimih taengah pongpa lamtah hlang thii te rhongngol thil sih, ommongsitoe te a tloengtlaih la dawn sih.
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
12 Amih te saelkhui bangla a hing la dolh sih lamtah tangrhom ah a pum la a cungpung bangla om saeh. (Sheol h7585)
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol h7585)
13 A boei a rhaeng boeih neh a phu aka tlo te n'dang uh vetih mamih im he kutbuem neh m'baetawt sak mako.
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 Ka ca aw, amih kah longpuei ah cet boel lamtah na kho te amih kah a hawn lamloh hoi lah.
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
16 Amih kah a kho tah boethae hamla cungpoeh uh tih thii long sak ham loe uh.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
17 Vaa phae boeih kah a hmaiah a tloengtlaih la lawk a tung uh.
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 Amih loh amamih kah a thii te a rhongngol thil uh tih a hinglu te a mae uh.
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Mueluemnah dongah aka mueluem boeih kah a khosing te tah a boei kah a hinglu ni a rhawt pah.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 Cueihnah tah vongvoel ah tamhoe tih toltung ah a ol a huel.
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
21 Thohka ah aka kawk rhoek kah a lu ah a pang pah tih khopuei vongka ah ol a thui.
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 Hlangyoe nang loh mevaeng hil nim hlangyoe na lungnah ve, hmuiyoi rhoek tah amamih kah saipaat dongah naep uh tih, aka ang rhoek loh mingnah te a hmuhuet uh.
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Ka toelthamnah he mael thil lah, ka mueihla he nang hamla kan thaa saeh lamtah ka ol he khaw nang kam ming sak eh.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 Kai khaw nangmih kah rhainah te ka nueih thil vetih nangmih ah birhihnah a thoeng vaengah kan tamdaeng ni.
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 Nangmih kah birhihnah tah khohli rhamrhael bangla ha pawk vetih na rhainah loh cangpalam bangla halo vaengah, citcai neh khobing loh nangmih te m'paan vaengah,
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
28 Kai ng'khue uh cakhaw ka doo mahpawh, kai n'toem uh cakhaw m'hmu uh bal mahpawh.
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Te yueng te mingnah a hmuhuet uh tih BOEIPA kah hinyahnah te tuek uh pawh.
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 Kai cilsuep dongah naep uh pawt tih, kai kah toelthamnah khaw boeih a tlaitlaek uh.
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
31 A khosing kah a thaih te a caak uh vetih a cilkhih loh a lawn uh bitni.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Hlangyoe hnuknong loh amih te a ngawn vetih aka ang kah ommongnah loh amih te a milh sak ni.
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
33 Tedae kai taengah aka hnatun long tah ngaikhuek la kho a sak vetih yoethae kah birhihnah khuiah khaw rhalthal van ni.
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
