The ungodly [man] flees when no one pursues: but the righteous is confident as a lion.
2 Khohmuen kah boekoek dongah mangpa la yet dae, aka yakming hlang long tah a ming dongah a ram a pai sak.
By reason of the sins of ungodly men quarrels arise; but a wise man will quell them.
3 Hlang he khodaeng loh tattloel patoeng a hnaemtaek he khaw, khotlan loh bet a kawt tih buh a om pawt bangla om.
A bold man oppresses the poor by ungodly deeds. As an impetuous and profitable rain,
4 Olkhueng aka hnoo rhoek loh halang te a thangthen uh. Tedae olkhueng aka tuem long tah amih te a huek.
so they that forsake the law praise ungodliness; but they that love the law fortify themselves with a wall.
5 Hlang thae rhoek loh tiktamnah te yakming uh pawt dae, BOEIPA aka tlap rhoek loh boeih a yakming uh.
Evil men will not understand judgment: but they that seek the Lord will understand everything.
6 A thincaknah neh aka pongpa khodaeng he, longpuei kawnvoi dongkah hlanglen lakah then.
A poor man walking in truth is better than a rich liar.
7 Olkhueng aka kueinah capa long tah a yakming dae, carhut neh aka luem loh a napa kah hmai a thae sak.
A wise son keeps the law: but he that keeps up debauchery dishonours his father.
8 A casai a puehkan neh a boeirhaeng aka tom long khaw, tattloel aka rhen ham ni a puehkan la a coi pah coeng.
He that increases his wealth by usuries and [unjust] gains, gathers it for him that pities the poor.
9 Olkhueng a yaak lalah a hna tlap tlap aka khong tah, a thangthuinah khaw tueilaehkoi la om.
He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even he has made his prayer abominable.
10 Aka thuem te longpuei thae la aka palang sak tah cakhom ah amah lah cungku ni. Tedae cuemthuek rhoek long tah hnothen a pang uh ni.
He that causes upright men to err in an evil way, himself shall fall into destruction: transgressor also shall pass by prosperity, but shall not enter into it.
11 Hlanglen pa he a mikhmuh ah amah aka cueih koek la ngai uh dae, tattloel long khaw aka yakming long tah anih te a khe.
A rich man is wise in his own conceit; but an intelligent poor man will condemn him.
12 Aka dueng rhoek a sundaep vaengah muep boeimang tangloeng dae, halang rhoek a thoh vaengah tah hlang loh a thuh tak.
By reason of the help of righteous men great glory arises: but in the places of the ungodly men are caught.
13 A boekoek aka phah he a thaihtak moenih. Tedae aka phoe tih aka hnoo tah a haidam.
He that covers his own ungodliness shall not prosper: but he that blames [himself] shall be loved.
14 Aka rhih yoeyah hlang tah a yoethen dae, a lungbuei aka mangkhak loh boethae khuila cungku.
Blessed is the man who religiously fears always: but the hard of heart shall fall into mischiefs.
15 Halang loh a taemrhai vaengah pilnam tattloel te sathueng bangla a nguel thil tih vom bangla cu.
A hungry lion and a thirsty wolf [is he], who, being poor, rules over a poor nation.
16 A lungcuei aka talh rhaengsang tah tlungalnah yet. Mueluemnah aka hmuhuet la aka hmuhuet tah a hinglung vang ni.
A king in need of revenues is a great oppressor: but he that hates injustice shall live a long time.
17 Hinglu kah thii neh hlang aka hnaemtaek hlang tah vaam khuila rhaelrham cakhaw, anih te duel mahpawh.
He that becomes surety for a man charged with murder shall be an exile, and not in safety. Chasten thy son, and he shall love thee, and give honour to thy soul: he shall not obey a sinful nation.
18 Cuemthuek la aka pongpa tah daem tih, longpuei aka kawn sak tah vaikhat lam ni a cungku eh.
He that walks justly is assisted: but he that walks in crooked ways shall be entangled [therein].
19 Amah khohmuen aka tawn tah caak khaw kum ni. Tedae a hoenghoep bueng aka hloem tah khodaeng la hah ni.
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that follows idleness shall have plenty of poverty.
20 Uepomnah hlang kah yoethennah tah yet. Tedae boei hamla aka tanolh khaw hmil mahpawh.
A man worthy of credit shall be much blessed: but the wicked shall not be unpunished.
21 Maelhmai a loha khaw then pawh. Tedae buh kamat dongah ni hlang loh boe a koek.
He that reverences not the persons of the just is not good: such a one will sell a man for a morsel of bread.
22 Hlang moeithae loh boeirhaeng dongah ngawn tah hlawt let dae, vaitahnah loh anih a thoeng thil te ming pawh.
An envious man makes haste to be rich, and knows not that the merciful man will have the mastery over him.
23 Hlang aka tluung he a hnukah tah a lai aka hnal lakah, mikdaithen la om.
He that reproves a man's ways shall have more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.
24 A manu neh a napa a rheth lalah boekoek pawt la aka thui tah, kut aka yook ham hlang kah a pueipo la om.
He that casts off father or mother, and thinks he sins not; the same is partaker with an ungodly man.
25 Mungkung kah hinglu long tah olpungkacan a huek. Tedae BOEIPA dongah aka pangtung ni a hoeikhang eh.
An unbelieving man judges rashly: but he that trusts in the Lord will act carefully.
26 Amah kah lungbuei dongah aka pangtung tah amah te ang coeng. Tedae cueihnah dongah aka pongpa tah amah khaw hlawt uh.
He that trusts to a bold heart, such an one is a fool: but he that walks in wisdom shall be safe.
27 Khodaeng taengah aka pae tah a tloelnah om pawh. Tedae a mik aka him tah tapvoepnah muep kum.
He that gives to the poor shall not be in want: but he that turns away his eye [from him] shall be in great distress.
28 Halang rhoek a thoh vaengah hlang loh a thuh tak. Tedae a milh vaengah aka dueng rhoek khaw pul.
In the places of ungodly [men] the righteous mourn: but in their destruction the righteous shall be multiplied.
