1 Misurtui tah hmuiyoi la om tih yu long khaw hue a sak. Te dongah anih loh a palang sak hlang boeih tah cueih voel pawh.
Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2 Manghai kah a mueirhih tah sathueng kah a kawk bangla om tih, anih aka paan ngawn tah a hinglu ni a phai coeng.
The fear of a king [is] as the roaring of a lion: [whoso] provoketh him to anger sinneth [against] his own soul.
3 Tuituknah lamloh aka hoep uh hlang ham thangpomnah la om tih, aka ang boeih long tah tohhaemnah a puek sak.
[It is] an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4 Kolhnaw loh sikca ah pataeng caai voel pawh. Te dongah cangah ah a dawt tah a dawt dae dang voel pawh.
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; [therefore] shall he beg in harvest, and [have] nothing.
5 Hlang lungbuei kah cilsuep tah tui aka dung bangla om tih, hlang lungcuei loh a dueh.
Counsel in the heart of man [is like] deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Hlang pilnu amah kah sitlohnah te boeih a doek dae, oltak hlang te u long a hmuh?
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7 A thincaknah neh aka cet hlang dueng tah amah hnukah a ca rhoek khaw a yoethen.
The just [man] walketh in his integrity: his children [are] blessed after him.
8 Manghai tah laitloeknah ngolkhoel dongah ngol tih, boethae boeih te a mik neh a thaek.
A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9 “Ka lungbuei ka saelh tih ka tholh lamloh ka caihcil,” tila ulong a ti thai.
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10 Lungto neh lungto khaw, cangnoek neh cangnoek khaw BOEIPA ham a boktlap la tueilaehkoi ni.
Divers weights, [and] divers measures, both of them [are] alike abomination to the LORD.
11 A khoboe dongah camoe pataeng khaw loha coeng. A bisai loh cil tih a thuem atah.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work [be] pure, and whether [it be] right.
12 Hna loh yaak tih mik loh a hmuh he khaw a boktlap la BOEIPA long ni a saii.
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13 Ih he lungnah boeh na khodaeng na pang ve. Na mik a tueng daengah ni buh na cung eh.
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
14 Hno aka lai loh a thae, a thae la a thui tih amah a khawk vaengah tah lat thangthen bal.
[It is] naught, [it is] naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
15 Sui neh lungvang he khawk mai dae, mingnah hmuilai he tah umponah hnopai bangla kuel.
There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge [are] a precious jewel.
16 Kholong ham rhi a khang pah vaengkah a himbai neh kholong nu, kholong nu ham a laikoi pah te khaw lo laeh.
Take his garment that is surety [for] a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
17 Laithae buh he hlang hamla tui dae, a hnukah a ka dongah lungcang muep baetawt.
Bread of deceit [is] sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18 Kopoek he cilsuep neh cikngae sak lamtah, caemtloek khaw a niing khueh lah.
[Every] purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19 Baecenol he caemtuh loh a hliphen tih a caeh puei. Te dongah a ka neh aka hloih te rhikhang pah boeh.
He that goeth about [as] a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
20 A manu neh a napa aka hnaep tah a hmaithoi a thih pah vetih, yinthuem kah yinthuem ah hmaisuep la om ni.
Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21 Rho he khaw a lamhma lah banlak a kawt dae, a hmailong ah a yoethen mahpawh.
An inheritance [may be] gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22 A thae te, “Ka thuung van ni,” ti nah boeh. BOEIPA mah lamtawn lamtah namah te ng'khang bitni.
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; [but] wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
23 Coilung neh coilung khaw BOEIPA kah a tueilaehkoi ni. Te dongah hlangthai palat kah cooi tah a then moenih.
Divers weights [are] an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance [is] not good.
24 Hlang kah a khokan he BOEIPA taeng lamkah ni. Te dongah hlang loh a longpuei te metlam a yakming eh?
Man’s goings [are] of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25 Hmuencim te a cukhat thil tih olcaeng hnukah a hnukdawn te hlang ham hlaeh la om.
[It is] a snare to the man [who] devoureth [that which is] holy, and after vows to make enquiry.
26 Manghai aka cueih loh halang rhoek te a thaek tih, amih te lengkho neh a paluet thil.
A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
27 BOEIPA kah hmaithoi long tah hlang kah a hiil neh a bungko kah a khui khaw boeih a thaih.
The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28 Sitlohnah neh oltak loh manghai te a kueinah tih, sitlohnah loh a ngolkhoel a duel pah.
Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.
29 Tongpang rhoek kah a thadueng tah amamih kah a boei a mang la om tih, sampok he khaw patong rhoek kah rhuepomnah ni.
The glory of young men [is] their strength: and the beauty of old men [is] the gray head.
30 Tloh kah a hma a met vanbangla, bungko khui kah hmasoe loh a thae a cing sak.
The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so [do] stripes the inward parts of the belly.
