< Nehemiah 7 >

1 Vongtung te a sak phoeiah tah thohkhaih te ka buen tih thoh tawt neh laa sa khaw, Levi khaw ka khueh.
When the wall was finished and I had set up the doors in place, and the gatekeepers and singers and Levites had been appointed,
2 Te vaengah ka mana Hanani neh Hananiah te Jerusalem rhalmah im ah mangpa la ka uen. Anih tah oltak kah hlang la om tih Pathen te muep a rhih ngai.
I gave my brother Hanani charge over Jerusalem, along with Hananiah who had oversight of the fortress, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.
3 Te phoeiah amih te ka uen tih, “Khohmik a saeham hil Jerusalem vongka te ah uh boel saeh. Amamih a rhaih pai vaengah thohkhaih te khai uh saeh lamtah kalh uh saeh. Jerusalem kah khosa rhoek tah amah rhaltawt ah pakhat neh a im hmai ah pakhat te rhaltawt la pai bal saeh,” ka ti nah.
I said to them, “Do not open the gates of Jerusalem until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are on guard, you may shut the doors and bar them. Appoint guards from those who live in Jerusalem, some at the place of their guard station, and some in front of their own homes.”
4 Khopuei te hmatoeng lamtah sang tih len dae a khui kah pilnam tah a yol dongah im sa om pawh.
Now the city was wide and large, but there were few people within it, and no houses had yet been rebuilt.
