< Matthai 8 >

1 Tlang lamkah a suntlak vaengah anih te hlangping loh muep a vai uh.
And when he had come down from the mountain, great numbers of people came after him.
2 Te vaengah hmaibae aka khueh loh tarha ham paan. Te vaengah a bawk doela, “Boeipa na ngaih atah, kai nan cim sak thai,” a ti nah.
And a leper came and gave him worship, saying, Lord, if it is your pleasure, you have power to make me clean.
3 Te dongah kut a yueng tih a taek phoeiah, “Ka ngaih, cimcaih pai saeh,” a ti nah tih hmaibae te pahoi cing.
And he put his hand on him, saying, It is my pleasure; be clean. And straight away he was made clean.
4 Te vaengah Jesuh loh, “Na thui pawt ham ngaithuen, tedae namah te cet lamtah khosoih taengah tueng. Amih taengah laipainah ham tah Moses loh a uen kutdoe te nawn,” a ti nah.
And Jesus said to him, See that you say nothing about this to anyone; but go and let the priest see you and make the offering which was ordered by Moses, for a witness to them.
5 Te phoeiah Kapernaum la a kun hatah, rhalboei loh a taengla a paan.
And when Jesus was come into Capernaum, a certain captain came to him with a request,
6 Jesuh te a hloep tih, “Boeipa ka ca aka khawn he mat tlo tih im ah yalh,” a ti nah.
Saying, Lord, my servant is ill in bed at the house, with no power in his body, and in great pain.
7 Te vaengah anih te, “Kamah ka lo vetih anih te ka hoeih sak bitni,” a ti nah.
And he said to him, I will come and make him well.
8 Rhalboei loh a doo tih, “Boeipa ka imphu hmuiah na kun khaw koihvaih la ka om moenih, na ol neh dawk thui mai, ka ca te hoeih bitni.
And the captain in answer said, Lord, I am not good enough for you to come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be made well.
Ka sal te khaw he he saii ka ti nah atah a saii ta,” a ti nah.
Because I myself am a man under authority, having under me fighting men; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.
10 Jesuh loh a yaak vaengah a ngaihmang tih aka vai rhoek te, “Nangmih taengah rhep kan thui Israel khuiah ka hmuh vaengah tangnah heyet a om moenih.
And when these words came to the ears of Jesus he was surprised, and said to those who came after him, Truly I say to you, I have not seen such great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 Te dongah ni, ' Khocuk neh khotlak lamkah loh muep a paan uh vetih, Abraham, Isaak, Jakob neh vaan ram ah ngolhlung uh ni, ' tila nangmih taengah kan thui.
And I say to you that numbers will come from the east and the west, and will take their seats with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:
12 Tedae ram kah a ca tah poengben kah yinnah khuila a haek uh ni. Te ah te rhah neh no rhuengnah om ni,” a ti nah.
But the sons of the kingdom will be put out into the dark, and there will be weeping and cries of pain.
13 Te phoeiah Jesuh loh rhalboei te, “Cet, Na tangnah bangla nang soah om saeh,” a ti nah. Te vaeng tue ah a ca te khaw hoeih.
And Jesus said to the captain, Go in peace; as your faith is, so let it be done to you. And the servant was made well in that hour.
14 Jesuh tah Peter im la pawk. Te vaengah Peter masae te tlo tih a yalh te a hmuh.
And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother in bed, very ill.
15 Te vaengah a kut te a taek pah hatah anih te satloh loh a hlah. Te dongah thoo tih Jesuh te a doedan.
And he put his hand on hers and the disease went from her, and she got up and took care of his needs.
16 Hlaem a pha vaengah, rhaithae aka kaem rhoek te Jesuh taengla muep a khuen uh. Te vaengah mueihla te ol neh a haek tih tloh aka khueh rhoek te boeih a hoeih sak.
And in the evening, they took to him a number of people who had evil spirits; and he sent the spirits out of them with a word, and made well all who were ill;
17 Tonghma Isaiah loh a thui tih, “Mamih kah vawtthoeknah he a loh tih tlohtat khaw a phueih coeng,” a ti te soep tangloeng.
So that the word of Isaiah the prophet might come true: He himself took our pains and our diseases.
18 Jesuh loh a taengvai kah hlangping te a hmuh vaengah rhalvangan la caeh ham ol a paek.
Now when Jesus saw a great mass of people about him, he gave an order to go to the other side.
19 Te vaengah cadaek pakhat loh ham paan tih, “Saya, mela na caeh akhaw, kam vai ni,” a ti nah.
And there came a scribe and said to him, Master, I will come after you wherever you go.
20 Tedae anih te Jesuh loh, “Metang rhoek tah a khui a khueh uh tih vaan kah vaa rhoek khaw a bu a khueh. Tedae hlang capa tah a lu a tloeng nah te khueh pawh,” a ti nah.
And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have a resting-place; but the Son of man has nowhere to put his head.
21 A tloe a hnukbang loh a taengah, “Boeipa kai tah lamhma la n' caeh sak lamtah a pa te ka vuei dae eh,” a ti nah.
And another of the disciples said to him, Lord, let me first go and give the last honours to my father.
22 Tedae Jesuh loh, “Kai m'vai laeh, amamih aka duek puei vuei ham tah aka duek puei taengah hlah pah nawn,” a ti nah.
But Jesus said to him, Come after me; and let the dead take care of their dead.
23 Jesuh te lawng khuila a kun vaengah a hnukbang rhoek loh a vai uh.
And when he had got into a boat, his disciples went after him.
24 Te vaengah hlipuei loh tuili soah tarha hli tih, tuiphu loh lawng te dalhdalh a khup. Te vaengah Jesuh tah ip.
And there came up a great storm in the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was sleeping.
25 Te dongah amah te a paan uh phoeiah a thoh uh tih, “Boeipa n'khang lah m'poci uh coeng he,” a ti nahuh.
And they came to him, and, awaking him, said, Help, Lord; destruction is near.
26 Tedae amih te, “Uepvawt rhoek Balae tih rhalyawp la na om uh?,” a ti nah. Te phoeiah, thoo tih khohli neh tuipuei te a ho hatah suepduem la boeih om.
And he said to them, Why are you full of fear, O you of little faith? Then he got up and gave orders to the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 Hlang rhoek khaw a ngaihmang uh tih, “Anih he metlam nim a om? Khohli neh tuipuei long pataeng a ol a ngai pah,” a ti uh.
And the men were full of wonder, saying, What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea do his orders?
28 Jesuh te rhalvangan kah Gadarenes kho la pawk. Te vaengah rhaithae aka kaem rhoi tah anih doe hamla phuel khui lamkah loh ha moe rhoi. Rhai thakbat tih te kah longpuei ah pakhat khaw khumpael thai pawh.
And when he had come to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, there came out to him from the place of the dead, two who had evil spirits, so violent that no man was able to go that way.
29 Te vaengah tah tarha pang rhoi tih, “Pathen Capa, kaimih rhoi taeng neh nang taengah balae aka om? A tuetang hlanah kaimih rhoi phaep ham nim hela na pawk dae? a ti rhoi.
And they gave a loud cry, saying, What have we to do with you, you Son of God? Have you come here to give us punishment before the time?
30 Amih taeng lamloh a lakhla la om tih ok hui muep luem.
Now there was, some distance away, a great herd of pigs taking their food.
31 Te dongah rhaithae rhoek loh Jesuh te a hloep uh tih, “Kaimih he nan haek atah, ok hui kah a khuila kaimih n'tueih mai,” a ti nah.
And the evil spirits made strong prayers to him, saying, If you send us out, let us go into the herd of pigs.
32 Te vaengah amih te, “Cet uh,” a ti nah. Te dongah te rhoek te ok khuila kun uh. Te vaengah ok hui boeih tah laengpoeng lamloh tuili la voek cu tih tui khuiah duek uh.
And he said to them, Go. And they came out, and went into the pigs; and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea and came to their end in the water.
33 Ok vuelh rhoek te yong uh tih khopuei khuila kun uh. Rhaithae aka kaem rhoi kah a kawng te khaw a sikim la puen uh.
And their keepers went in flight to the town and gave an account of everything, and of the men who had the evil spirits.
34 Te dongah kho pum loh Jesuh doenah la pawk cet uh. Amah te a hmuh uh vaengah amih vaang lamloh thoeih ham a hloep uh.
And all the town came out to Jesus; and seeing him they made request that he would go away from their part of the country.
