< Matthai 26 >

1 Jesuh loh hekah ol he boeih a khah tom vaengah a hnukbang rhoek te,
Now it happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, that He said to His disciples,
2 “Hnin nit phoeiah yoom om ni tila na ming uh, hlang capa tah te vaengah tai hamla a tloeng coeng,” a ti nah.
“You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of the Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Te vaengah khosoihham rhoek neh pilnam khuikah patong rhoek tah Kaiaphas la a khue khosoihham kah vongup ah tingtun uh.
Then the chief priests, the scribes and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, the one called Caiaphas,
4 Jesuh te tuengkhuepnah neh tuuk phoeiah ngawn ham dawtlet uh thae.
and they plotted to seize Jesus by trickery and kill Him.
5 Tedae, “Khotue vaengah boel saeh, pilnam khuiah olpungnah la om pawt nim,” a ti uh.
But they said, “Not during the feast, in order not to have an uproar among the people.”
6 Jesuh te Bethany kah hmaibae Simon im ah om.
Now when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,
7 Anih te a phu aka kuel, botui lungbok aka pom huta loh a paan tih aka vael Jesuh kah a lu te a suep thil.
a woman approached Him, having an alabaster flask of very expensive perfume, and she began to pour it on His head as He reclined at the table.
8 A hmuh uh vaengah hnukbang rhoek loh a yakdam uh tih, “He vakrhanah la he.
But upon seeing it His disciples were indignant saying: “Why this waste?
9 He tah a yet la a yoih vetih khodaeng a paek thai dae ta,” a ti uh.
For this perfume could have been sold for a good deal and given to the poor.”
10 Tedae Jesuh loh a ming vaengah amih te, “Balae tih huta he thakthaenah neh na toeh uh, kai hamla bibi then ni a saii.
But being aware Jesus said to them: “Why are you bothering the woman? She has done something beautiful to me.
11 khodaeng rhoek tah nangmih taengah om taitu ta, tedae kai he ka om taitu moenih.
You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
12 Huta loh ka pum dongah botui a suep he kai kah rhokkhoem ham ni a saii coeng.
In putting this perfume on my body she did it with a view to my burial.
13 Nangmih taengah rhep ka thui, Diklai pum kah olthangthen a hoe nah takuem ah anih loh a saii he khaw a kutmuei la a thui ni,” a ti nah.
Assuredly I say to you, wherever this gospel may be proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman did will also be told in her memory.”
14 Hlainit khuikah pakhat Judah Iskariot la a khue tah vik cet.
Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 Khosoihham rhoek taengah, “Na ngaih yet te mah kai m'pae uh anih te nangmih taengah ah kan tloeng bitni,” a ti nah. Te dongah anih ham tangka sawmthum a cun uh.
and said, “What are you willing to give me so that I deliver Him to you?” So they counted out to him thirty silver coins.
16 Te vaeng lamloh Jesuh te voeih ham a tuethen a dawn.
From then on he kept looking for an opportunity to betray Him.
17 Vaidamding kah a cuek khohnin ah hnukbang rhoek loh Jesuh te a paan uh tih, “Melam na ngaih dae, yoom na caak ham ka rhuengphong uh pawn eh?” a ti na uh.
Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus saying to Him, “Where do you want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
18 Te vaengah Jesuh loh, “Khopuei la cet uh lamtah pakhat taengah, ' Saya loh, ' Kai kah a tue tah om tom coeng, nang taengah ka hnukbang rhoek neh yoom ka saii ni,’ a ti, ' ti na uh,” a ti nah.
So He said: “Go into the city to ‘you know who’ and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near, I will do the Passover with my disciples at your place.”’”
19 Jesuh loh amih a thuinuet bangla hnukbang rhoek loh a saii uh tih Yoom te a rhuengphong uh.
And the disciples did as Jesus directed them and prepared the Passover.
20 Hlaem a pha vaengah hlainit taengah a vael.
When it was evening He was reclining at the table with the twelve.
21 A caak uh li vaengah, “Nangmih taengah rhep ka thui, nangmih khuikah pakhat loh kai m'voeih ni,” a ti nah.
And as they were eating He said, “Assuredly I say to you that one of you will betray me.”
22 Te vaengah bahoeng a kothae uh tih amah te, “Boeipa, kai ka om mai khaming,” rhip pahoi a ti uh.
This really upset them and they each began to say to Him, “It isn't me, is it, Lord?”
23 Tedae amah loh a doo tih, “Kai taengah baeldung khuila kut aka puei loh kai m'voeih ni.
In answer He said: “It is the one who dipped his hand in the bowl with me, he will betray me.
24 Hlang Capa tah amah kawng a daek pah bangla cet ngawn ta. Tedae anih kongah Hlang Capa a voeih sak hlang tah anunae. Tekah hlang tah cun pawt koinih anih ham then ngai ni,” a ti nah.
The Son of the Man is really going just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of the Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man not to have been born.”
25 Te vaengah anih aka voei Judah loh a doo tih, “Rhabbi, kai ka om mai khaming “a ti nah hatah anih te, “Na thui coeng te,” a ti nah.
Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “It isn't me, is it, Rabbi?” He says to him, “You said it!”
26 A caak uh vaengah Jesuh loh vaidam te a loh tih a uem tih a aeh. Te phoeiah hnukbang rhoek te a paek tih, “Doe uh lamtah ca uh, he tah kamah pum ni,” a ti nah.
Now as they were eating, after taking the bread and blessing it, Jesus broke it, gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
27 Te phoeiah boengloeng te a loh tih a uem phoeiah amih te a doe tih, “Te te boeih o uh.
And taking the cup and giving thanks He gave it to them saying: “Drink of it, all of you;
28 He tah kamah kah paipi thii ni. A yet kah tholh khodawkngainah ham ni a long.
for this is my blood, that of the new covenant, that which is being shed on behalf of many for forgiveness of sins.
29 Tedae nangmih taengah kan thui, tahae lamkah loh misur thaih he ka o loeng loeng mahpawh. Te khohnin a pha hlan atah a pa kah ram khui daengah ni nangmih taengah a thai la ka ok eh,” a ti nah.
Furthermore, I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”
30 Te phoeiah a hlai doeah Olives tlang la cet uh.
And after hymn-singing they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Te phoeiah Jesuh loh amih te, “He khoyin ah tah kai kongah nangmih boeih n'khah uh ni, ' Tudawn te ka tam vetih tuping dongkah tu tah taekyak uh ni'tila a daek coeng.
Then Jesus says to them: “All of you will be caused to stumble because of me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 Tedae kai ka thoh phoeiah Galilee la nangmih hmaiah ka lamhma ni,” a ti nah.
But after I am raised I will go before you to Galilee.”
33 Peter loh amah te a doo tih, “A cungkuem he nang kongah a khah uh akhaw kai tah n'khap mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if everyone else is caused to stumble because of you, I will never be caused to stumble.”
34 Jesuh loh Peter taengah, “Nang taengah rhep kan thui, tu khoyin kah ai a khong hlanah kai he voei thum nan huek uh tak ni,” a ti nah.
Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I say to you that this night, before any rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
35 Peter loh Jesuh taengah, “Nang taengah ka duek ham kuek cakhaw nang kan huek uh tak loeng loeng mahpawh,” a ti nah. Hnukbang rhoek long khaw boeih a ti uh van.
Peter says to Him, “Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the other disciples said the same.
36 Te phoeiah Jesuh tah hnukbang rhoek neh Gethsemene la a khue hmuen la pawk uh. Te vaengah hnukbang rhoek te, “He rhoek ana ngol uh dae ka cet tih ka thangthui phai narhuet ah,” a ti nah.
Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He says to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
37 Te vaengah Peter neh Zebedee kah ca rhoi te a khuen tih khothae neh khobing te a tong.
And taking Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along He began to be troubled and distressed.
38 Te vaengah amih te, “Ka hinglu loh dueknah te ngang a yaak coeng, heah ana naeh uh lamtah kai n'hak puei uh,” a ti nah.
Then Jesus says to them: “My soul is in anguish, to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me.”
39 Te phoeiah hawt lamhma phai tih a maelhmai neh bakop thuk. Te phoeiah thangthui tih, “A Pa a coeng thai atah hekah boengloeng he kai taeng lamkah loh khoe mai. Tedae kai ngaih banglam pawt tih namah ngaih bangla om saeh,” a ti.
And going a little farther He fell on His face and prayed saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by; nevertheless not as I wish, but as you do.”
40 Te phoeiah hnukbang rhoek te a paan hatah a ih uh te a hmuh. Te dongah Peter te, “Khonoek pakhat khaw kai taengah hak ham na noeng uh moenih a?” a ti nah.
Then He comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping, and He says to Peter: “So, you (pl.) were not able to watch with me one hour!
41 Cuekhalhnah khuiah na kun uh pawt ham hak lamtah thangthui uh. Mueihla loh a yakvawt ngawn dae pumsa tah tattloel pueng
Watch and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit on its part is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Te phoeiah a pabae la cet tih thangthui. Te vaengah, “A pa he he poenghal ham neh ok pawt ham ni a coeng pawt oeh atah namah kongaih la om saeh,” a ti.
And going away a second time He prayed saying, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass from me unless I drink it, let your will be done.”
43 Te phoeiah koep ha pawk hatah amih a ih te a hmuh. Amih aka om rhoek te a mik loh bakba a hap sak.
And coming He finds them sleeping again, because their eyes had been weighed down.
44 Te dongah amih te sut a hlah tih a pathum na koep a caeh vaengah amah ol bangla koep a thui tih thangthui.
So leaving them He went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing.
45 Te phoeiah hnukbang rhoek te a paan tih, “Yulh ip lamtah vawk mong uh, a tue yoei coeng tih hlang capa tah hlangtholh kut ah a voeih coeng he.
Then He comes to His disciples and says to them: “Sleep some more and take your rest! Actually, the hour is here and the Son of the Man is being betrayed into sinners' hands.
46 Thoo uh, mawt uh thae sih. Kai aka voei tah ha yoei coeng he,” a ti nah.
Get up, let's go; see, the one who is betraying me has come!”
47 A cal li ah hlainit khuikah pakhat Judah te pakcak ha pawk. Te vaengah anih te hlangping a yet loh cunghang neh, thingboeng neh, khosoihham rhoek neh, pilnam kah a ham rhoek neh ham pueiuh.
And while He was still speaking, there was Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Amah aka voei loh hlangping te miknoek a paek tih, “Ka mok te tah anih ni, anih te tuu uh,” a ti nah.
(Now His betrayer had given them a sign saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He; take Him!”)
49 Te dongah Jesuh te koe a paan tih, “Rhabbi, na sading saeh,” a ti na tih a mok.
And he went right up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
50 Tedae Jesuh loh anih taengah, “Pueivan aw balae aka om?” a ti nah. Te vaengah Jesuh te a paan uh, kut a hlah thil uh tih a tuuk uh.
So Jesus said to him, “Friend, what brings you here?” Then approaching they laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
51 Te vaengah Jesuh taengkah pakhat loh kut a yueng tih a cunghang te a yueh. Te phoeiah khosoihham kah sal te a tloek tih a hna a pat pah.
And then, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest he cut off his ear!
52 Jesuh loh anih te, “Na cunghang te amah hmuen ah koep khueh laeh, cunghang aka muk boeih tah cunghang dongah poci uh ni.
But Jesus says to him: “Put your sword back into its place, for all who take the sword will die by the sword.
53 A pa te khue ham coeng mahpawh tila na poek uh a? Puencawn caempuei caempa hlainit hlai pataeng kai ham pahoi a paisak ni ta.
Do you actually suppose that I cannot call upon my Father right now and He will place beside me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Te koinih, cacim loh a om ham a kuek te metlam a soep pai eh,” a ti nah.
But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it has to happen this way?”
55 Tekah a tue ah Jesuh loh hlangping te, “Kai tuuk ham thingboeng, cunghang neh dingca bangla nam paan uh, hnin takuem bawkim ah ka ngol tih ka thuituen vaengah kai nan tuuk uh pawt lae?
At that time Jesus said to the crowd: “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as against a bandit, to arrest me? I used to sit daily with you in the temple, teaching, and you did not seize me.
56 Tedae aka om boeih nen he ni tonghma rhoek kah cacim khaw a soep eh,” a ti nah. Te vaengah Jesuh te hnukbang rhoek loh boeih a toeng uh tih rhaelrham uh.
But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets should be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and ran away.
57 Te vaengkah aka tuu rhoek loh Jesuh te khosoihham Kaiaphas taengah a khuen uh. Te rhoek ah cadaek rhoek neh a ham rhoek tah tingtun uh.
So those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 Peter loh khosoihham kah vongup duela hawt a vai. Te phoeiah hnuktloih te ming hamla a khuila kun tih tueihyoeih rhoek taengah ngol.
Now Peter was following Him at a distance, up to the high priest's courtyard. And going inside he sat down with the attendants, to see the end.
59 Khosoihham rhoek neh khoboei rhoek boeih loh Jesuh te ngawn hamla a hong a hi neh a paelnaeh thil uh.
The chief priests and the elders, in fact the whole Council, kept looking for false witnesses against Jesus so that they could put Him to death,
60 A paelnaeh uh tloel vaengah laithae laidang neh muep a paan uh. Tedae a tloihsoi ah panit loh a paan tih,
but did not find any. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any. But at last two false witnesses came forward
61 “Anih loh, 'Pathen kah bawkim te phae tih hnin thum ah ka sak thai,’ a ti,” a ti rhoi.
and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’”
62 Te vaengah khosoihham te pai tih, “Amih rhoi loh nang m'pael te na doo mapawt a?” a ti nah.
And standing up the high priest said to Him: “Do you answer nothing? What is it that these men are testifying against you?”
63 Tedae Jesuh loh hil a phah. Khosoihham loh, “Nang he Pathen capa Khrih la na om tangtang atah kaimih taengah thui lah tila aka hing Pathen ming neh nang kan ti nah,” a ti nah.
But Jesus kept silent. So reacting the high priest said to Him, “I put you under oath by the Living God so that you tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God!”
Jesus says to him: “You said it. Furthermore, I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of the Man sitting at the Power's right, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Te vaengah khosoihham loh a himbai te a phen tih, “A soehsal coeng, mebang laipai lae koep n'ngoe eh?, a soehsalnah khaw na yaak uh coeng he.
Then the high priest tore his clothes saying: “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? See, now you have heard His blasphemy!
66 Metlam na poek?” a ti nah. Te vaengah a doo uh tih, “A dueknah om kueluek saeh,” a ti uh.
What do you think?” So in answer they said, “He deserves death!”
67 Te phoeiah Jesuh te a maelhmai ah a timthoeih uh tih a thoek uh.
Then they spat in His face and punched Him, while others slapped Him
68 Te vaengkah aka bael rhoek loh, “Khrih nang, kaimih taengah phong lah, unim nang aka bael te,” a ti na uh.
saying, “Messiah, prophesy to us! Who is the one who hit you?”
69 Tedae Peter tah vongup khuiah hoeih ngol. Te vaengah salnu pakhat loh anih te a paan tih, “Nang khaw Galilee kah Jesuh taengah na om,” a ti nah.
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a certain servant girl approached him saying, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 Tedae hlang boeih hmaiah basa tih, “Na thui te ka ming moenih,” a ti nah.
But he denied before them all saying, “I don't know what you are saying.”
71 Te phoeiah vongka la cet dae a tloe loh a hmuh tih tekah rhoek taengah, “Anih he Nazareth Jesuh taengah om,” a ti nah.
And having gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and says to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus the Natsorean.”
72 Te vaengah, “Tekah hlang te ka ming moenih,” tila olhlo neh koep basa.
And he denied again, with an oath, “I do not know the man!”
73 Rhaih a om atah aka pai rhoek loh Peter te a paan uh tih, “Namah khaw amih kah hlang rhep ni, namah kah olcal long mah nang m'mingpha sak coeng,” a ti na uh.
But a little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Really, you too are one of them, because your very accent gives you away!”
74 Tedae pahoi thae a phoei tih, “Tekah hlang te ka ming moenih, “tila a toemngam vaengah ai tlek khong.
Then he began to curse and to swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.
75 Te vaengah Peter loh Jesuh kah olka, “Ai a khong hlanah kai voei thum nan huek uh tak ni,” a ti nah te poek. Te dongah phawn cet tih hlawk hlawk rhap.
And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before any rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And going out he cried bitterly.
