Luka 3

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

And he came into all the region round about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;
4 Tonghma Isaiah kah ol te cabu dongah ana daek sut bangla, khosoek kah pang ol loh, “Boeipa kah longpuei te rhoekbah uh lamtah, a caehlong te a dueng la saii uh.
as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
5 Soklong te boeih a et vetih, tlang neh mol khaw boeih a tlarhoel sak ni. Aka kawn te a dueng la, long mueng khaw long tlaai la om ni.
Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;
6 Te vaengah pumsa boeih loh Pathen kah khangnah a hmuh ni.
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Te dongah anih kah a nuem hamla aka thoeng hlangping te, “Rhulthae rhoek kah cadil rhoek, kosi aka tawn uh te rhaelrham tak ham unim nangmih aka tueng?
He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Te dongah yutnah neh a tiing la a thaih te saii uh. Na khuiah, 'Abraham te pa la ka khueh,’ ti koeloe boeh. Pathen tah hekah lungto lamloh Abraham ca rhoek a thoh thai te nangmih ham kan thui.
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 Tedae hai tah thing yung ah oepsoeh la a khueh van coeng. Thaih tak la aka thai pawh thing tah boeih a vung tih hmai ah a pup,” a ti nah.
And even now is the axe also laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 Te dongah amah te hlangping loh a dawt tih, “Te koinih balae ka saii uh eh?” a ti nah.
And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?
11 Te dongah amih te a doo tih, “Angki yungnit aka khueh loh aka khueh pawt te doedan saeh. Te vanbangla caak aka khueh long khaw saii van saeh,” a ti nah.
And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.
12 Te vaengah mangmucoi rhoek khaw nuem hamla ha pawk uh tih anih taengah, “Saya, balae ka saii uh eh? “a ti uh.
And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Master, what must we do?
13 Te dongah amih te, “Nangmih ng'uen phoeiah a yet la khoboe boeh,” a ti nah.
And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.
14 Anih te rhalkap rhoek long khaw a dawt uh tih, “Kaimih tah balae ka saii uh van eh?” a ti uh. Amih te khaw, “Hlang te hihham uh boeh, huttet uh boeh. Namamih kah buhcun neh rhaemhal uh,” a ti nah.
And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither exact [anything] wrongfully; and be content with your wages.
15 Pilnam kah a lamso vanbangla amamih kah thinko ah Johan te boeih a thui uh tih, “Anih he Khrih coini,” a ti uh.
And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;
16 Johan loh a doo tih, “Nangmih he kai loh tui dongah kan nuem dae kai lakah aka tlung te ha pawk coeng. Anih kah khokhom rhui hlam ham pataeng aka koih la ka om moenih. Anih loh nangmih te Mueihla Cim dongah hmai neh n'nuem ni.
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and [with] fire:
17 A kut dongkah cangcopcung loh a cangtilhmuen a coeh vetih cang te a khai khuila a sang ni. Tedae canghi tah aka duek pawh hmai neh boeih a hoeh ni,” a ti nah.
whose fan is in his hand, throughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
18 Te dongah pilnam te a tloe neh muep a thaphoh tih olthangthen a phong pah.
With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;
19 Tedae Herod a khoboei vaengah a mana yuu Herodias kawng dongah Herod loh boethae a saii boeih te Johan loh a toeltham.
but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
20 Te te boeih a tungsaep thil dongah Johan te thongim ah a uup.
added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 Pilnam te boeih a nuem vaengah Jesuh khaw a nuem tih a thangthui hatah vaan te ong uh.
Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 Te phoeiah Mueihla Cim te a pumrho neh vahu kah mueimae bangla a suntlak thil. Te vaengah, “Nang tah ka capa thintlo la na om tih, nang taengah ka lungtlun,” tila vaan lamkah ol ha thoeng.
and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

And Jesus himself, when he began [to teach], was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the [son] of Heli,

the [son] of Enos, the [son] of Seth, the [son] of Adam, the [son] of God.
