< Luka 23 >

1 Amih te rhaengpuei la huek pai uh tih Jesuh te Pilat taengla a khuen uh.
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2 Te vaengah Jesuh te pahoi a paelnaeh uh tih, “Anih loh mah namtu he a pamdah sak, Kaisar taengah mangmu paek ham te a a paa sak tih amah te, 'Khrih manghai ni,’ a ti khaw ka hmuh,” a ti uh.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
3 Te phoeiah Pilat loh a dawt tih, “Nang he Judah manghaila na om a?” a ti nah. Tedae Jesuh loh anih te a doo tih, “Nang long ni na ti,” a ti nah.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
4 Te dongah Pilat loh khosoihham rhoek neh hlangping rhoek te, “Hekah hlang soah a lolh ka hmuh moenih,” a ti nah.
Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
5 Tedae amih loh a mangkhak la, “Pilnam a hueh tih, Galilee lamloh he hil, Judah tom ah pahoi a thuituen,” a ti uh.
And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 Pilat loh a yaak vaengah, “Hekah hlang tah Galilee hoel la om maco, “a ti.
When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.
7 Te daengah Herod kah saithainah dongah aka om la a ming tih Herod taengla a tueih. Te vaeng tue ah Herod khaw Jerusalem ah om.
And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8 Herod loh Jesuh te a hmuh vaengah bahoeng omngaih. Hlamat kum lamkah a kawng a yaak coeng dongah amah hmuh ham te ngaihlih ana om coeng. Te dongah anih loh a saii miknoek khat khat te hmuh hamla a ngaiuep.
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9 Te dongah Jesuh te ol muep a dawt. Tedae Jesuh loh anih te a doo moenih.
Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 Te vaengah khosoihham rhoek neh cadaek rhoek loh pai uh tih Jesuh te rhaprhap a paelnaeh uh.
And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11 Herod neh a rhalkap rhoek long khaw Jesuh te a hnaelcoe uh tih a tamdaeng uh. Te phoeiah himbai a cim thik a bai sak tih Pilat taengla a tueih uh.
And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12 Te khohnin kuelhuelh ah Herod neh Pilat loh khatneh khat paya la coeng rhoi. A noek ah amih rhoi te thunkha la om rhoi dae ta.
And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 Te dongah Pilat loh khosoihham rhoek, boei rhoek neh pilnam te a hueh tih,
And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 “Hekah hlang he kai taengah pilnam aka palet bangla nang khuen uh. Kai loh nangmih hmaiah ka boelh het coeng dae a lolh la anih na paelnaeh uh thil te hekah hlang soah ka hmuh moenih he.
Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 Herod long khaw a hmuh pawt dongah ni anih he mamih taengla han tueih. A saii te dueknah neh aka tiing a om moenih he.
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 Te dongah anih he ueih sak lamtah ka hlah eh?,” a ti nah.
I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 Khotue ah amih ham hlang pakhat tah a loeih sak ham mangkhak la a kuek.
( For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18 Tedae huek pang uh tih, “Anih he khuen laeh, Barabbas mah kaimih ham han hlah,” a ti uh.
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 Barabbas tah khopuei ah olpungnah bet a om vaengah ngawnnah a saii dongah thongim khuila a hlak uh.
( Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 Jesuh te hlah a ngaih dongah Pilat loh amih te koep a khue.
Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21 Tedae amih loh a o uh tih, “Anih te tai laeh, tai laeh,” a ti uh.
But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22 Tedae Pilat loh amih te, “He loh boethae balae a saii tih, dueknah ham koila anih soah a lolh ka hmuh moenih. Anih he ueih sak lamtah ka hlah tangloeng eh?, “voeithum a ti nah.
And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23 Tedae a lalh uh coeng dongah Jesuh tai ham te ol ue la a hoe uh tih amih ol loh boeih a khumla uh.
And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24 Pilat long khaw amih kah bihhoenah te rhoirhi ham ko a tam.
And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 Te dongah a hoe uh vanbangla olpungnah neh ngawnnah dongah thongim khuila a det tangtae te a hlah. Tedae Jesuh te amih kongaih bangla a voeih pah.
And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 Anih te a khuen uh vaengah Kurena Simon te lohma lamkah ha pawk hatah a tuuk uh tih Jesuh hnukah koh pah ham thinglam te a tloeng pauh.
And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 Te vaengah anih te pilnam rheangpuei neh anih aka rhaengsae tih aka hlai huta rhoek loh muep a vai uh.
And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 Amih te Jesuh loh a mael thil tih, “Jerulalem nu rhoek, kai hamla rhap uh boeh. Namamih ham neh na ca rhoek ham mah rhap uh.
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 “Cayaa, camoe aka cun pawh bung, aka khut pawh rhang suk loh a yoethen,” a ti uh tue tah ha pawk coeng he.
For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Te vaengah tlang taengah kaimih n'tim thil laeh, mol taengah khaw kaimih m'vuei laeh, “pahoi a ti uh ni.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 Thing te a thingsup pataeng te tlam te a saii uh atah a koh vaengah metlam a om eh?” a ti nah.
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 A tloe laihmuh panit te khaw anih taengah ngawn ham a khuen uh.
And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 Lurhuh a ti uh hmuen te a pha uh vaengah Jesuh neh laihmuh rhoi te pahoi a tai uh. Laihmu rhoi khuiah pakhat te bantang ben ah pakhat banvoei ben ah a taiuh.
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Te vaengah Jesuh loh, “A pa, amih he tholh hlah mai, a saii uh he khaw a ming uh moenih,” a ti. Te phoeiah a himbai te a phen uh tih hmulung a naan thiluh.
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 Te vaengah pilnam loh pai tih a sawt. Boei rhoek long khaw a nueih thil tih, “Hlang tloe aka khang te amah khaw khang uh saeh. Anih he Pathen kah a coelh Khrih la a om atah,” a ti uh.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 Anih te rhalkap rhoek long khaw a tamdaeng uh tih a paan uh.
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 Anih te yuthui a paek uh tih, “Nang he Judah rhoek kah manghai la na om atah namah khang uh saw,” a ti nah.
And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 “A sokah a ming khaw, “Judah rhoek kah manghai tah anih ni, “tila a om pah.
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Te vaengah laihmu rhoi a hoei uh khuikah pakhat loh anih te a soehsal tih, “Nang he Khrih la na om mahnim? Namah khaw kaimih rhoi khaw ng'khang lah,” a ti nah.
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 Tedae pakhat loh anih te a doo tih a ho. Te vaengah, “Nang tah Pathen ke na rhih moenih a? Laitloeknah khuiah na om boeiloeih dae.
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 Mamih rhoi ngawn tah mah khoboe te n'yook tueng tih tiktam coeng. Tedae anih tah a halang la a saii moenih,” a ti nah.
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 Te phoeiah Jesuh te, “Na ram khuiah na pawk vaengah kai m'poek ne,” a ti nah.
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 Te dongah anih te, “Namah taengah rhep kan thui, tihnin ah paradai ah kai taengah na om pawn ni,” a ti nah.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 Khonoek parhuk tluk a pha vaengah diklai pum ah yinnah loh a thing tih khonoek pako hil Khomik khaw hmuep.
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 Te vaengah bawkim kah hniyan loh phak phin uh.
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 Jesuh tah ol ue la pang tih, “A pa, na kut dongah ka mueihla kan paek,” a ti nah. Te a thui neh pahoi pat.
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 Aka om hno te rhalboei loh a hmuh vaengah Pathen te a thangpom tih, “Hekah hlang tah hlang dueng la om taktak,” a ti.
Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 A miklaw kah hlangping aka taai uh boeih loh aka om hno te a hmuh uh vaengah a lungkoe te a tum uh tih bal uh.
And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 Te vaengah khohla lamkah a huiko khaw boeih ha pai uh. Galilee lamloh a taengah aka bang huta rhoek long khaw a hmuh uh.
And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 Te vaengah hlang pakhat, a ming ah Joseph tah khoboei la tapkhoeh om. Anih tah hlang then neh hlang dueng la om.
And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

( The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them; ) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 Te long te Pilat a paan tih Jesuh kah rhok te a bih.
This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 Rhok te a hlak tih himbai neh a yen. Te phoeiah rhok te phuel lung khuiah a khueh. Tekah phuel ah aka yalh om hlan.
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 Tedae khohnin tah rhuengphong la om tih Sabbath tom coeng.
And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 Te vaengah huta rhoek loh a hloem uh. Amih tah Galilee lamkah loh Jesuh aka puei la om uh tih phuel neh a rhok metla a khueh te a hmuh uh.
And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 A bal uh vaengah bo-ul neh botui te a hmoel uh. Tedae Sabbath vaengah tah olpaek vanbangla duem uh.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
