1 BOEIPA puencawn te Gilgal lamloh Bokim la cet tih, “Na pa rhoek taengah ka caeng vanbangla nangmih te Egypt lamkah kan doek tih nangmih he khohmuen khuila kang kun puei coeng. Te dongah, 'Nangmih taengkah ka paipi te kumhal duela ka phae mahpawh.
The angel of the Lord went from Gilgal to Bokim and told the people, “I led you out of the land of Egypt and brought you to this land that I promised to your forefathers, and I said I would never break the agreement I made with you.
2 Tedae khohmuen kah khosa rhoek neh paipi na saii uh mahpawh. A hmueihtuk te palet pa uh,’ ka ti lalah ka ol na ngai kolla bahamlae he he saii uh?
I also told you not to make any agreements with the people living in the land and to tear down their altars. But you refused to obey what I said. Why did you do this?
3 Te dongah, 'Amih te na mikhmuh lamkah ka haek voel pawt vetih voeivang ah nangmih taengah kho a sak uh ni, amih kah pathen nangmih taengah hlaeh la om uh ni,’ ka ti coeng,” a ti.
I also warned you, ‘I will not drive them out before you, and they will be snares for you, and their gods will be traps for you.’”
4 He ol he BOEIPA kah puencawn loh Israel ca rhoek boeih taengah a thui vaengah pilnam loh a ol a huel uh tih rhap uh.
After the angel of the Lord had explained this to all the Israelites, the people wept out loud.
5 Te dongah tekah hmuen te Bokim tila ming a sak uh tih BOEIPA te pahoi a nawn uh.
That's why they named the place Bokim, and they presented sacrifices there to the Lord.
6 Joshua loh pilnam te a tueih daengah, Isreal ca rhoek loh a rho te rhip a paan uh tih khohmuen te a huul uh.
After Joshua had dismissed the people, the Israelites went to take possession of the land, each to their allotted land.
7 Joshua tue boeih neh Joshua phoeikah hinglung aka vang a hamca rhoek, Israel ham a len la a saii pah BOEIPA bibi boeih aka hmu rhoek kah a tue khuiah tah pilnam loh BOEIPA taengah tho a thuenguh.
The people continued to worship the Lord throughout Joshua's life, and throughout the lifetimes of the elders who outlived him, those who had seen all the wonderful things that the Lord had done for Israel.
8 BOEIPA kah sal Joshua, Nun capa Joshua tah ya neh kum rha a lo ca vaengah duek.
Joshua, son of Nun, servant of the Lord, died at the age of one hundred and ten.
9 Anih te Gaash tlang, tlangpuei Ephraim tlang Timnathkhehres kah amah rho rhi ah a up uh.
They buried him in Timnath-heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash, the land he had been allocated.
10 Te vaengkah cadilcahma boeih loh a napa rhoek taengla a khoem uh tih amih hnukah aka poe cadilcahma long tah BOEIPA khaw, Israel ham a saii pah bibi te ming uh pawh.
Once that generation had passed away, the generation that followed did not know the Lord, or what he had done for Israel.
11 Israel ca rhoek loh BOEIPA mikhmuh ah thae a saii uh tih Baal te tho a thueng thiluh.
The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord's sight, and they worshiped the Baals.
12 A napa rhoek kah BOEIPA Pathen, Egypt kho lamkah amih aka khuen te a hnoo uh. A kaepvai kah pilnam pathen, pathen tloe rhoek kah a hnuk te a vai uh tih a bakop thil uh dongah BOEIPA te a veet uh.
They deserted the Lord, the God of their forefathers, who had led them out of Egypt. They followed other gods, bowing down in worship to the gods of the peoples around them, making the Lord angry.
13 BOEIPA te a hnoo uh. Baal neh Ashtoreth taengah tho a thuenguh.
They deserted the Lord and worshiped Baal and Ashtaroth idols.
14 BOEIPA kah thintoek loh Israel taengah sai tih aka tuk aka vat rhoek kut ah a tloeng dongah amih te a reth uh. Amih te kaepvai kah a thunkha rhoek kut ah a yoih coeng dongah a thunkha rhoek mikhmuh ah koep pai uh thai voel pawh.
Because the Lord was angry with Israel he handed them over to invaders who plundered them. He sold them to their enemies all around—enemies they could no longer resist.
15 BOEIPA loh a thui tih amih taengah BOEIPA loh a caeng vanbangla a caeh uh takuem ah BOEIPA kut loh amih taengah yoethaenah la a om pah tih amih te mat a daengdaeh.
Whenever Israel went into battle, the Lord fought against them and defeated them, just as he had warned them and as he had vowed he would do. They were in a great deal of trouble.
16 Tedae lai aka tloek te BOEIPA loh a phoe sak dongah amih aka tuk aka vat kut lamloh amih a khang la om.
Then the Lord provided them with judges, who saved them from their invaders.
17 Tedae amih kah lai aka tloek te khaw hnatang uh pawh. Te dongah pathen tloe rhoek taengah cukhalh uh tih amih taengah bakop uh. A napa rhoek kah a pongpa nah longpuei te koeloe a phaelh uh tih BOEIPA olpaek hnatun ham he saii uh pawh.
But even so, they refused to listen to their judges, and prostituted themselves by following other gods, bowing down in worship to them. They quickly abandoned the way their forefathers had followed, and they did not obey the Lord's commandments as their forefathers had.
18 Amih ham lai aka tloek te BOEIPA loh a phoe sak vaengah khaw lai aka tloek te BOEIPA loh a om puei. Amih aka nen tih amih aka huet mikhmuh ah a nguekcoinah te BOEIPA khaw hal tih lai aka tloek kah a tue khuiah tah a thunkha kut lamloh amih te a khang.
When the Lord provided Israel with judges over Israel, he was with each judge and saved the people from their enemies during that judge's lifetime, because the Lord felt sorry for his people, who groaned under their oppressors and persecutors.
19 Tedae lai aka tloek te a duek vaengah tah mael uh bal tih a napa rhoek lakah taoe poci uh. Amih taengah thothueng ham neh amih te bawk ham a tloe pathen hnukah pongpa uh. A khoboe neh a mangkhak longpuei te voei uh pawh.
But when the judge died, the people relapsed, and did worse things even than their forefathers, following other gods and worshiping them. They refused to give up what they were doing and held to their stubborn ways.
20 Te dongah BOEIPA kah a thintoek loh Israel taengah sai tih, “A napa rhoek ham ka uen, ka paipi te namtu loh a poe tih kai ol hnatun uh pawh.
As a result the Lord became angry with Israel and he told them, “Because this nation has broken the agreement I ordered their forefathers to obey, and has not paid attention to what I said,
21 Namtom lamkah te amih mikhmuh ah hlang haek hamla ka koei mahpawh. Te te Joshua loh a hnoo tih amah khaw duek coeng,” a ti.
from now on I won't drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died.
22 Israel loh BOEIPA kah longpuei a ngaithuen tih a khuiah pongpa ham te a napa rhoek kah a ngaithuen bangla a ngaithuen pawt khaw amih te a noem.
This is in order to use them to test Israel to see if they will keep the way of the Lord and follow it as their forefathers did.”
23 Te dongah BOEIPA loh namtom rhoek te koeloe a haek kolla a paih tih Joshua kut ah tloeng pah pawh.
This is the reason why the Lord allowed those nations to remain, and didn't immediately drive them out by handing them over to Joshua.
