4 Tedae, “Kai tah na mikhmuh lamloh kai n'haek cakhaw, na hmuencim bawkim te paelki ham ni ka koei,’ ka ti.
I said to myself, ‘The Lord has banished me from his sight. Will I ever see your holy Temple again?’
5 Kai he tui loh ka hinglu duela a li tih, tuidung loh kai m'vael. Carhaek loh ka lu a bol.
The water swirled over me so I couldn't breathe; the deep sucked me down; seaweed wrapped itself around my head.
6 Tlang yung duela ka suntla tih diklai loh a thohkalh te kai ham kumhal duela a kalh. Tedae ka Pathen BOEIPA loh ka hingnah he vaam lamloh na doek.
I sank down to the base of the mountains; the earth barred me in forever. But you, my Lord, my God, brought me back up from the abyss.
7 Kai lamkah ka rhae vaengah BOEIPA te ka hinglu neh ka poek. Namah kah hmuencim bawkim ah ka thangthuinah te namah taengla ham pha.
As my life ebbed away, I remembered the Lord; my prayer came to you in your holy Temple.
8 A honghi aka ngaithuen rhoek loh a poeyoek la a sitlohnah a hnawt uh.
Those who worship worthless idols give up their trust in God's goodness.
9 Tedae kai tah namah taengah uemonah ol neh kan nawn vetih ka caeng bangla BOEIPA lamkah khangnah te ka thuung ni,” a ti.
But I will offer you sacrifices, shouting out my thanks. I will keep my promises to you, for salvation comes from the Lord.”
10 Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh nga te a uen tih Jonah te laiphuei dongah a tha.
Then the Lord told the fish to spit out Jonah onto the shore.
