< Jeremiah 9 >

1 Ka lu kah tui neh ka mik dongkah thunsih mikphi he unim aka pae? Te dongah ka pilnam nu kah rhok te khoyin khothaih ka rhah mai eh.
How I wish my head was a spring of water, and my eyes a fountain of tears! Then I would weep day and night over all my people who have been killed.
2 Khosoek kah yincet rhaehim te u long nim kai m'paek ve? Te nen ni ka pilnam he ka hnoo vetih amih taeng lamloh ka cet laeh mako. A pum la samphaih uh tih pahong nen tah hnukpoh uh coeng.
I wish I had a temporary shelter in the desert—I would give up on my people and leave them, because they're all adulterers, a bunch of traitors!
3 A lai te laithae lii la a phuk uh. Uepomnah loh a na pawt dongah diklai ah he boethae lamloh boethae la cet uh tih kai he m'ming uh pawh. BOEIPA kah olphong ni he.
Their words are like arrows shot from a bow. Lies win out over the truth throughout the country. They go from one evil thing to the next, forgetting all about me, declares the Lord.
4 Hlang loh a hui taengah ngaithuen saeh lamtah manuca takuem dongah khaw pangtung uh boeh. Manuca boeih long khaw a tuengkhuep la a tuengkhuep tih paya boeih long khaw caemtuh lamni a caeh.
Everyone, watch out for your friends! Don't even trust your brother! Every brother is deceitful, and every friend slanders other people.
5 Hlang loh a hui taengah omsaa tih oltak te thui uh pawh. A lai te a honghi thui ham a cang uh tih paihaeh la a ngak uh.
Everyone betrays their friends; no one tells the truth. They've made themselves into expert liars; they tire themselves out doing wrong.
6 Hlangthai palat khuikah hlangthai palat lakli ah na hing tih kai ming ham a aal uh. BOEIPA kah olphong ni he.
Everyone exploits each other, and in all their lies they don't want to know me, declares the Lord.
7 Te dongah caempuei BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Kai loh amih te ka rhoh tih ka loepdak ni he. Ka pilnam nu kah mikhmuh ah banim ka saii eh.
So this is what the Lord Almighty says: Look, I'm going to test them and purify them like metal in a furnace. What else can I do because of what my people have done?
8 A lai loh thaltang bangla a ngawn la a ngawn coeng. A ka dongah hlangthai palat la cal. A hui taengah rhoepnah a thui dae a kotak ah a sulbung a khueh pah.
Their words are arrows that kill; they always tell lies. They're nice to their friends on the outside while plotting against them inside.
9 Te dongah amih te ka cawh mah pawt nim. BOEIPA kah olphong ni. Te namtom soah khaw he tlam he ka hinglu loh phulo mahpawt nim?
Shouldn't I punish them for all this? declares the Lord. Shouldn't I retaliate for what this nation has done?
10 Tlang rhoek ham te rhahnah neh rhathinah, khosoek toitlim ham rhahlung ka phueih mai bitni. Amih a hlup parhi te hlang loh pongpa voel pawt tih boiva ol ya uh voel pawh. Vaan kah vaa neh rhamsa taeng lamloh yong uh tih cet uh coeng.
I will weep and wail for the mountains, I will sing a funeral song over the pastures in the countryside, because they have been so badly burned that no one can pass through, and there are no cattle to make any noise. The birds have flown and the wild animals have run away.
11 Jerusalem te pongui kah khuirhung lungkuk la ka khueh ni. Judah khopuei rhoek te khaw khopong la ka khueh vetih khosa om mahpawh.
I'm going to make Jerusalem into a heap of rubble, a place where jackals live. I will destroy the towns of Judah, leaving them empty.
12 He he aka yakming ham u hlang nim aka cueih? BOEIPA kah a ka loh a taengah unim a thui pah te aka puen eh. Diklai he balae tih a paltham, khosoek bangla ungtlai tih pongpa uh pawh.
Who is wise enough to understand this? Has the Lord told anyone so they can explain what's happened? Why has the land been destroyed and burned so it's like a desert, so no one can pass through it?
13 Amih mikhmuh ah ka khueh ka olkhueng te a hnoo uh dongah ni BOEIPA loh a thui. Ka ol te hnatun uh pawt tih a khuiah khaw pongpa uh pawh.
The Lord replied, It's because they have given up keeping my laws that I placed before them. They haven't followed them; they haven't done what I told them.
14 Tedae a napa rhoek kah a tukkil bangla a lungbuei mangkhak hnuk neh Baal hnukah pongpa uh.
On the contrary, they have followed their own stubborn way of thinking, and went to worship the Baals, just as their forefathers taught them.
15 Te dongah ni Israel Pathen caempuei BOEIPA loh he a thui tangloeng. Amih pilnam he kai loh pantong ka cah tih anrhat tui ni amih ka tul eh he.
So this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Watch out! I will give these people wormwood to eat and poisoned water to drink.
16 Amih te amamih neh a napa rhoek loh a ming pawh namtom taengah ka taekyak bal ni. Te vaengah amih te a milh duela cunghang neh ka tueih ni.
I'm about to scatter them among nations unfamiliar to them and their forefathers, and I will send enemies with swords to chase after them until I have wiped them out.
17 Caempuei BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Na yakming uh phoeiah rhaengsae nu te khue uh lamtah ha pawk uh saeh. Aka cueih te khaw tah lamtah ha pawk uh saeh.
This is what the Lord Almighty says: Be aware of what's happening! Call for the professional women mourners, ask for the best of them.
18 Te vaengah rhathinah tah mamih ah tokthuet saeh lamtah n'nan saeh. Mikphi loh mamih mik ah suntla saeh lamtah mamih mikkhu ah tui sih saeh.
Have them come as quickly as possible, and sing a funeral song about us, so we can cry our eyes out, so our tears will flow like streams.
19 rhathinah ol te Zion lamloh a yaak coeng. Khohmuen n'hnoo uh tih mah tolhmuen a yoe uh vaengah balae tih a rhoelrhak neh mat n'yah uh.
The sound of weeping comes from Zion, “We're completely devastated! We're totally ashamed, because we've had to abandon our country, because our houses have been demolished.”
20 Huta rhoek, BOEIPA ol te ya uh laeh lamtah na hna loha ka dongkah ol te doe saeh. Na tanu te rhathinah neh, a hui huta te rhahlung neh tukkil saeh.
Women, listen to the Lord's message, hear what he has to say. Teach your daughters to mourn and sing songs of sadness.
21 Mamih kah bangbuet longah dueknah ha yoeng tih, vongvoel lamkah camoe, toltung lamkah tongpang te saii ham mamih kah impuei la ha pawk coeng.
Death has slipped in through our windows; it has come into our fortresses. It has killed the children playing in the streets and the young people gathering in the town squares.
22 BOEIPA kah olphong loh he ni a thui. Te dongah hlang rhok he diklai hman ah aek bangla hmoeng vetih cang at hnuk kah cangpa bangla coi mahpawh.
Tell everyone this is what the Lord says: Dead bodies will be left where they fall like manure in the fields, lying there like stalks of freshly-cut grain behind the reaper, with no one to collect them.
23 BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Aka cueih khaw a cueihnah neh yan uh boel saeh. Hlangrhalh te a thayung thamal neh yan uh boel saeh. Hlanglen loh a khuehtawn dongah yan uh boel saeh.
This is what the Lord says: The wise shouldn't boast about their wisdom. The strong shouldn't boast about their strength. The rich shouldn't boast about their riches.
24 Tedae he dongah a yan uh lakah tah kai n'cangbam ham neh m'ming ham mah yan uh saeh. Kai BOEIPA loh tiktamnah neh duengnah he diklai dongah sitlohnah nen ni ka saii. Te dongah ka hmae he khaw BOEIPA kah olphong coeng ni.
Anyone who wants to boast should boast that they really know and understand me, recognizing that I am the Lord who acts with trustworthy love, who shows fairness, and who does what is right everywhere on earth, because these mean the most to me, declares the Lord.
25 BOEIPA kah olphong ha pawk khohnin vaengah tah hmuicue ah aka rhet boeih te ka cawh ni he.
Watch out, for the time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will punish all who are only physically circumcised.
26 Egypt taeng neh Judah taengah khaw, Edom taeng neh Ammon ca rhoek taengah khaw, Moab taeng neh baengki aka kuet tih khosoek kah khosa rhoek boeih taengah khaw, namtom pumdul boeih neh Israel imkhui tom kah lungbuei pumdul taengah khaw ka muk ni.
Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab, and all the desert people who trim their hair on the sides of their heads—all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the Israelites are spiritually uncircumcised.
