< Jame 4 >

1 Nangmih khuikah caemthoh te me lamkah lae, rhalthohnah me lamkah lae? He lamkah moenih a?
From where come wars and fights among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Na hue uh dae na dang uh moenih, na ngawn uh dae na thatlai uh. Hmuh hamla na coeng uh pawt dongah na hnuei uh thae tih na tloek uh thae. Na bih uh pawt dongah na khueh uh pawh.
You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not.
3 Na bih uh dae namamih kah omthenbawnnah neh hnonah ham voek na bih dongah na dang uh pawh.
You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your lusts.
4 Samphaih rhoek aw, Diklai sanaep tah Pathen kah thunkha ni tila na ming uh moenih a? Diklai kah paya la om ham a ngaih long tah Pathen kah rhal ni a saii coeng.
You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Cacim loh, “Mueihla te mamih ah khosak sak ham uetnah neh a rhingda,” a ti te vapsa la na poek uh.
Do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?
6 Tedae lungvatnah muep a paek dongah, “Pathen loh buhueng aka pom uh te a pakai tih tlayae te lungvatnah a paek,” a ti.
But he gives more grace. Why he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Pathen taengla yoei uh lamtah nangmih taengla ha yoei bitni. Tholh kut te cilpoe uh lamtah thinko Cikcok te ciim uh laeh.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.
9 Cip uh lamtah, nguek uh lamtah rhap uh laeh.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
11 Khat neh khat yan uh thae boeh. Manuca rhoek, a manuca aka yan, manuca te lai aka thui tah olkhueng ni a yan tih olkhueng ni lai a tloek thil.
Speak not evil one of another, brothers. He that speaks evil of his brother, and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law, and judges the law: but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 Olrhikung neh laitloekkung tah pakhat ni. Amah loh khang ham neh a paci sak ham coeng thai. Tedae imben lai aka tloek thil nangmih te u nim.
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who are you that judge another?
13 “Tihnin neh thangvuen ah hekah kho la n'cet vetih kum khat a thok hil hno n'yoih ni, n'dang ni,” aka ti rhoek te maerhae coeng.
Go to now, you that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Nangmih loh thangvuen kah na hingnah te metla a om khaw na hmat uh moenih. Tuihu loh kolkalh ah phoe tih a cing banglam ni na om uh.
Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
15 “Boeipa loh a ngaih tih ng'hing uh atah he khaw, ke khaw n'saii uh van bitni,” na ti uh mako.
For that you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 Namamih kah oekhlawnnah neh na pomsang uh coeng dae tebang hoemdamnah boeih tah a thae lamni a om.
But now you rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Te dongah a then saii ham a ming tih a saii pawt dongah anih ham tholhnah la a om pah.
Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.
