< Esther 8 >

1 Amah te khohnin ah manghai Ahasuerus loh Judah, Judah aka daengdaeh Haman im te manghainu Esther taengla a paek. A taengkah te Esther loh a puen coeng dongah Mordekai khaw manghai mikhmuh la mop.
On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.
2 Manghai loh Haman lamkah aka mael a kutcaeng te a dul tih Mordekai taengla a paek. Esther loh Mordekai te Haman im ah a khueh.
And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
3 Te phoeiah Esther loh a rhaep tih manghai mikhmuh ah a thui pah. A kho kung ah yalh tih rhap. Te vaengah a taengah Agagite Haman kah boethae neh Judah rhoek a taeng thil a kopoek te paa sak ham a bih.
And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.
4 Te vaengah manghai loh Esther taengla sui mancai a doe. Te dongah Esther te thoo tih manghai mikhmuh ah pai.
Then the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.
5 Te phoeiah, “Manghai ham khaw then mai tih a mikhmuh ah mikdaithen ka dang mai atah, manghai mikhmuh ah khaw ol te khui coeng. Kai khaw a mikhmuh ah then coeng. Agagite Hammedatha capa Haman kah kopoek cabu te yueh hamla daek mai saeh. Te te manghai paeng pum ah Judah rhoek milh sak ham ni a daek.
And she said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:
6 Boethae loh ka pilnam a tlak thil ham te metlam ka ueh vetih ka sawt eh? Ka pacaboeina kah mitmoengnah ham te metlam ka ueh vetih ka sawt eh?” a ti nah.
for how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
7 Te vaengah manghai Ahasuerus loh manghainu Esther taeng neh Judah Mordekai taengah, “Haman im te Esther taengla ka paek coeng. Judah, Judah te a kut a hlah thil dongah amah khaw thing dongah ka kuiok sak coeng.
Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
8 Nangmih loh Judah rhoek ham te na mik ah then na ti bangla manghai ming neh daek pah laeh. Te phoeiah ca te manghai kah kutcaeng neh hnah thil. Manghai ming neh a daek tih manghai kutcaeng neh a hnah thil tah a yueh ham voel moenih,” a ti nah.
Write ye also to the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.
9 Te dongah te khohnin ah manghai kah cadaek rhoek khue uh thae. Te te a kum kul kum thum nah, hla thum dongkah Sivan hla ni. Te vaengah Mordekai ol uen boeih te Judah rhoek ham neh khoboei rhoek ham khaw, India lamloh Kusah hil paeng ya pakul parhih kah paeng rhalboei rhoek neh mangpa ham khaw, paeng khat ah amah paeng kah ca neh, pilnam khat taengah amah pilnam ol neh, Judah ham khaw amah ca, amah ol neh a daek pah.
Then were the king’s scribes called at that time, in the third month, which is the month, Sivan, on the three and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.
10 Manghai Ahasuerus ming neh a daek tih manghai kutcaeng a hnah thil. Te phoeiah cabu te marhangpa, boei leng dongah ngol tih tatloe kut lamloh marhang dongah a pat.
And he wrote in the name of king Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, riding on swift steeds that were used in the king’s service, bred of the stud:
11 Manghai loh Judah rhoek te khopuei, khopuei boeih ah tingtun ham neh amamih hinglu te pai puei ham, amih aka dum paeng neh pilnam tatthai boeih te tah mitmoeng sak ham, ngawn ham, milh sak ham, huta camoe neh a kutbuem te poelyoe pah ham a paek.
wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, [their] little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,
12 Te te hla hlai nit, Adar hla hnin hlai thum dongah tah manghai Ahasuerus kah paeng pum ah hnin at neh saii saeh a ti.
upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, [namely], upon the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
13 Catlaep ca te paeng, paeng boeih ah olkhan la paek ham, pilnam cungkuem taengah a tai sak. Te daengah ni Judah, Judah rhoek khaw te khohnin ah a thunkha rhoek soah phuloh ham khohrhang neh a coekcoe la a om eh.
A copy of the writing, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published unto all the peoples, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
14 Boei marhang dongah aka ngol tatloe rhoek loh tlek a thak uh. Te phoeiah manghai ol neh Shushan rhalmah im ah olkhan a paek te a khuen paitok.
So the posts that rode upon swift steeds that were used in the king’s service went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment; and the decree was given out in Shushan the palace.
15 Mordekai khaw manghai mikhmuh lamloh manghai pueinak, a thim, a bok, boeilen sui rhuisam, baibok hni neh, daidi neh cet. Te daengah ni Shushan khopuei khaw hlampan tih a kohoe.
And Mordecai went forth front the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan shouted and was glad.
16 Judah ham khaw khosae neh kohoenah, omngaihnah neh umponah la a om pah.
The Jews had light and gladness, and joy and honour.
17 Paeng neh paeng tom ah khaw, khopuei neh khopuei tom ah khaw, manghai ol neh a olkhan loh a pha nah hmuen ah kohoenah neh omngaihnah om. Judah lakli ah khaw buhkoknah neh khohnin then a buluh. Khohmuen pilnam lamkah te a taengah Judah birhihnah loh a khuk dongah Judah khuila muep kun uh.
And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness and joy, a feast and a good day. And many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen upon them.
