< Caeltueih 1 >

1 Aw Theophilu lamhma kah olka ngawn tah cungkuem la ka khueh coeng.
The first account I prepared, Theophilus [God-lover], concerned all that Jesus began to do and to teach
2 Te tah Jesuh loh a saii ham neh thuituen ham a tong lamloh Mueihla Cim dongah caeltueih rhoek a uen khohnin hil kah ni. Amih ni a tuek tih a loh.
until the day in which He was taken back, after He had given commandment, by Holy Spirit, to the apostles whom He had chosen;
3 A patang phoeiah a hing te mingphanah cungkuem neh amah loh a pai puei bal coeng. Khohnin sawmli khuiah amih taengla phoe tih Pathen ram kawng te a thui.
to whom He also showed Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing evidences, appearing to them during forty days and speaking of things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
4 Te vaengah, “Jerusalem lamkah nong kolla tingtun uh lamtah kai taengkah pa olkhueh na yaak uh te rhingoel uh.
And being together He directed them not to go away from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, “which you heard from me;
5 Nangmih te Johan loh tui n'nuem coeng dae khohnin muep a di mueh la Mueihla Cim neh n'nuem uh ni,” tila amih te a uen.
John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6 Te dongah aka tingtun rhoek loh amah te a dawt uh tih, “Boeipa, tihnin ah Israel ram na thoh koinih ta,” a ti nauh.
Well then, being together they asked Him saying, “Lord, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel at this time?”
7 Tedae amih taengah, “Pa loh amah kah saithainah neh a khueh a tue khohnin he nangmih kah a ming koi la a om moenih.
So He said to them: “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has placed within His own authority.
8 Tedae nangmih soah aka thoeng Cim Mueihla kah saithainah na dang uh bitni. Te vaengah Jerusalem neh Judea pum, Samaria neh diklai khobawt duela kai kah laipai la na om uh ni,” a ti nah.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be witnesses to me—both in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria, and even to the last part of the earth.”
9 He rhoek he a thui tih a sawt uh vaengah Boeipa te a pom hang. Te phoeiah khomai loh amih mikhmuh lamkah voelh a doe.
Upon saying these things, as they watched, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight.
10 Amah vaan la a caeh vaengah rhep aka hmaitang la amih te om uh. Te vaengah hlang panit loh himbai bok neh amih taengah pakcak a pai pah.
And as they were staring into the sky, while He was going, suddenly two men in white clothing stood beside them;
and they said: “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into the sky? This very Jesus who is being taken up from you into the sky, He will come again in the precise manner that you observed Him going into the sky.”
12 Te phoeiah Olive la a khue tlang lamloh Jerusalem la bal uh. Tekah te Sabbath kah yincaeh khoeng Jerusalem taengah om.
They then returned to Jerusalem from the mount called ‘of Olives’, which is near Jerusalem (a Sabbath day's journey).
13 Cet uh tih imhman la a luei uh vaengah, Peter neh Johan, James neh Andrew, Philip neh Thomas, Bartholomew neh Matthai, Alphaeus capa James, namlung Simon neh James capa Judah khaw ana pah uh tih ana om uh.
When they had entered [the city] they went up into the upper room where they were staying: namely Peter and James, John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas of James.
14 Amih boeih loh huta rhoek nen khaw, Jesuh kah a manu Mary, a manuca rhoek nen khaw, thikat la om tih thangthuinah te a khuituk uh.
All these were continuing with one purpose in prayer and petition, along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
15 Te vaengah hnin ah Peter loh manuca rhoek kah laklung ah pai Hmuen pakhat ah ming pakhat neh aka om hlangping he ya pakul tluk tah om van tih,
Well in those days Peter stood up in the middle of the disciples (the number of people assembled there was about 120) and said:
16 “Ka hlang rhoek, ka manuca rhoek, Jesuh aka tu rhoek kah longtueng la aka om, Judas kawng dongah, David ka dongah Mueihla Cim loh a thui olcim te a soep ham a kuek.
“Men, brothers: It was necessary that this Scripture be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by David's mouth concerning Judas, who was guide to those who arrested Jesus;
17 Te dongah mamih khuikah aka om he tae sih lamtah tahae kah bibi he hmulung neh yo saeh.
in that he was numbered with us and obtained his share in this ministry.”
18 Anih loh boethae phu neh khohmuen te kaelh ngawn cakhaw singling singloei lamni a om. Te dongah a laklung ah vawh tih a kotak boeih coe coeng.
(In fact this man acquired a field with the wages of his wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle, and all his innards were spilled out.
19 Te dongah Jerusalem kah khosa boeih loh a hmat om coeng tih khohmuen te amah ol neh Akeldamah a sui. Te tah hlang thii khohmuen ni.
And it became known to all who lived in Jerusalem, so that in their own language that field came to be called ‘Akeldama’, that is, ‘Field of Blood’.)
20 Te dongah ni tingtoeng cabu dongah khaw, “A dap te khosoek la poeh saeh lamtah a khuiah khosa loh om boel saeh. Te phoeiah, anih kah hiphoelnah te hlang tloe loh loh pah saeh, “tila a daek.
“Because it stands written in Book of Psalms: ‘Let his residence become desolate, and may no one live in it’ and, ‘Let another take his office.’
21 Te dongah Boeipa Jesuh tah mamih taengah a voei a bal tue khui boeih ah hlang rhoek he mamih taengah a tingtun ham a kuek.
So then, of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22 Johan kah baptisma lamloh a tong tih mamih taeng lamkah a loh hnin duela mamih taengkah aka om longtah a thohkoepnah laipai pakhat la om van saeh,” a ti.
beginning from the baptism of John until the day when He was taken up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
23 Te dongah Barasabbas la a khue Joseph Anih te Justus lam khaw a khue neh Matthias hlang panit te a pai sakuh.
So they nominated two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24 Te phoeiah thangthui uh tih, “Soeprhaep boeih kah lungming Boeipa nang loh he rhoi khuiah tahae kah bibi neh caeltueih hmuen aka lo ham na tuek pakhat te phoe sak lah.
And praying they said: “You, Lord, Knower of all hearts, show which one of these two You have chosen
25 Amah hmuen la aka cet ham koi Judas tah palang coeng,” a ti uh.
to receive the portion of this ministry and apostleship, out of which Judas turned aside to go into his own place.”
26 Te phoeiah amih rhoi ham hmulung a naan uh hatah Matthias te hmulung loh a tlak thil tih a hlaikhat nah caeltueih la a tae thiluh.
And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven Apostles.
