1 Josiah he kum rhet a lo ca vaengah manghai tih Jerusalem ah sawmthum kum khat manghai. A manu ming tah Bozkath lamkah Adaiah canu Jedidah ni.
Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jedidah, daughter of Adaiah of Bozcath.
2 BOEIPA mikhmuh ah a thuem a saii. A napa David kah longpuei cungkuem dongah pongpa tih banvoei bantang la phael pawh.
And he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand nor to the left.
3 Manghai Josiah kah kum hlai rhet dongla a pha vaengah tah manghai loh BOEIPA im kah cadaek Meshullam koca Azaliah capa Shaphan te a tah tih,
And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, [that] the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Jehovah, saying,
4 “Khosoih puei Hilkiah taengla cet lamtah BOEIPA im kah a khuen tangka te cum sak saeh. Te te cingkhaa aka tawt loh pilnam taeng lamkah ni a coi.
Go up to Hilkijah the high priest, that he may sum up the money which is brought into the house of Jehovah, which the doorkeepers have gathered of the people,
5 Te phoeiah BOEIPA im kah im bitat aka saii aka hung kut ah pae rhoe pae saeh. Te te BOEIPA im ah bi aka saii taeng neh im puut aka biing roek taengah,
and let them give it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and let them give it to those that do the work in the house of Jehovah, to repair the breaches of the house,
6 kutthai rhoek ham neh im aka sa rhoek ham khaw, aka biing ham neh thing lai ham khaw, im biing vaengkah lungrhaih lung ham khaw pae saeh,” a ti nah.
to the carpenters and the builders and the masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
7 Tedae amih khaw uepomnah neh a saii uh dongah amih kut dongah a paek tangka te amih taengah koep toem voel pawh.
But no reckoning was made with them of the money that was given into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
8 Te vaengah khosoih puei Hilkiah loh cadaek Shaphan taengah, “BOEIPA im ah olkhueng cabu ka hmuh,” a ti nah. Te phoeiah Hilkiah loh cabu te Shaphan taengah a paek tih a tae.
And Hilkijah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkijah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9 Te phoeiah cadaek Shaphan te manghai taengla pawk tih manghai te ol a mael. Te vaengah, “Im khuikah a hmuh tangka te na sal rhoek loh a khok uh coeng. Te te BOEIPA im kah bi saii rhoek aka hung kut ah a paek uh coeng,” a ti nah.
And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again and said, Thy servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah.
10 Cadaek Shaphan te manghai taengla puen tih, “Khosoih Hilkiah loh kai taengah cabu m'paek,” a ti nah. Te phoeiah te te Shaphan loh manghai mikhmuh ah a tae.
And Shaphan the scribe informed the king saying, Hilkijah the priest has given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11 Manghai loh olkhueng cabu dongkah ol te a yaak van neh a himbai te a phen coeng.
And it came to pass when the king heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his garments.
12 Te dongah manghai loh khosoih Hilkiah, Shaphan capa Ahikam, Mikaiah capa Akbor, cadaek Shaphan neh manghai kah sal Asaiah te a uen tih,
And the king commanded Hilkijah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying,
13 “Cet uh, kai ham neh pilnam ham khaw, Judah pum ham khaw BOEIPA te toem uh laeh. Cabu dongkah ol a hmuh dongah he BOEIPA kah kosi tah mamih taengah muep rhong coeng. He cabu olka he a pa rhoek lohngai uh pawh. Mamih ham a daek tah a cungkuem ah ngai ham om,” a ti nah.
Go, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book which is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written [there] for us.
14 Te dongah khosoih Hilkiah, Ahikam, Akbor, Shaphan neh Asaiah tah himbai aka khoem Harhas koca Tikvah capa Shallum yuu, tonghmanu Huldah taengla cet uh. Te vaengah anih te Jerusalem kah hnukthoi khopuei ah kho a sak tih amah te a voek uh.
And Hilkijah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe: now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter [of the town]; and they spoke with her.
15 Te vaengah amih te, “Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Kai taengla nangmih aka tueih hlang taengah thui pah.
And she said to them, Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Tell the man that sent you to me,
16 BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Kai loh he hmuen so neh a khuikah khosa rhoek soah khaw boethae ka khuen coeng. Cabu dongkah ol cungkuem te Judah manghai loh a tae coeng te.
Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will bring evil upon this place and upon the inhabitants thereof, all the words of the book that the king of Judah hath read.
17 Kai n'toeng uh tih a kut dongkah bitat cungkuem neh kai veet hamla a tloe pathen taengah phum uh. Te dongah ka kosi loh he hmuen he a hlup tih daeh voel mahpawh.
Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my fury is kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
18 BOEIPA toem hamla nangmih aka tueih Judah manghai te a taengah Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh a thui ol he na yaak bangla thui pah.
But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus shall ye say to him: Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel touching the words which thou hast heard:
19 He hmuen so neh a khuikah khosa soah imsuep neh rhunkhuennah la om sak ham ka cal te na yaak vaengah na thinko phoena tih BOEIPA mikhmuh ah na kunyun coeng. Te vaengah na himbai te na phen tih ka mikhmuh ah na rhah khaw ka yaak bal coeng. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and didst rend thy garments and weep before me, I also have heard [thee], saith Jehovah.
Therefore, behold, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil that I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
