< 1 Timothy 1 >

1 Mamih kah khangkung Pathen neh mamih kah ngaiuepnah Jesuh Khrih kah olpaek vanbangla Jesuh Khrih kah caeltueih Paul loh,
From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the appointment of God, our Saviour, and Christ Jesus, our hope.
2 tangnah dongah ka ca tak Timothy taengah kan pat. Pa Pathen neh mamih Boeipa Jesuh Khrih lamkah lungvatnah, rhennah, ngaimongnah om saeh.
To Timothy, my true child in the faith: May God, the Father, and Christ Jesus, our Lord, bless you, and be merciful to you, and give you peace.
3 Makedonia la ka caeh vaengah Ephisa ah aka om nang te kan uen. Te daengah ni khat khat loh a thuituen tholh pawt ham khaw, cil neh aka puh rhuirhong hnatung pawt ham na uen thai eh.
I beg you, as I did when I was on my way into Macedonia, to remain at Ephesus; so that you may instruct certain people there not to teach new and strange doctrines,
4 Te rhoek te tangnah dongah Pathen kah hnokhoemnah lakah olpungnah la lat a coeng sak.
nor to devote their attention to legends and interminable genealogies, which tend to give rise to argument rather than to further that divine plan which is revealed in the faith.
5 Tedae oluen dongkah a cuinah tah thinko a caih lamkah lungnah, aka then mingcimnah neh hmantang kah tangnah te ni.
The object of all instruction is to call forth that love which comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.
6 He lamkah hlangvang tah hlihloeh tih olhongpaika la mael uh.
And it is because they have not aimed at these things that the attention of certain people has been diverted to unprofitable subjects.
7 Saya la om ham a ngaih uh. Tedae a thui te khaw yakming uh pawt tih ba khaw a cak sak uh moenih.
They want to be teachers of the Law, and yet do not understand either the words they use, or the subjects on which they speak so confidently.
8 Tedae khat khat long ni a longim la a rhoidoeng atah olkhueng tah then tila m'ming uh.
We know, of course, that the Law is excellent, when used legitimately,
9 Aka dueng ham olkhueng he khueh pawh tila m'ming. Tedae lailak rhoek neh thinthah rhoek ham, baltalh rhoek neh hlangtholh rhoek, aka cimpawt rhoek neh aka rhonging rhoek, a napa aka ngawn neh a manu aka ngawn, hlang aka ngawn,
by one who recognises that laws were not made for good people, but for the lawless and disorderly, for irreligious and wicked people, for those who are irreverent and profane, for those who ill-treat their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
10 Hlanghalh rhoek, uicuk rhoek, hlang aka yoi, laithae, aka basa neh aka soep thuituennah te a tloe la aka kingkalh boeih ham ni a om.
for the immoral, for perverts, for slave traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is opposed to sound Christian teaching –
11 Yoethen Pathen kah thangpomnah vanbangla tekah olthangthen te kai m'paek coeng.
as is taught in the glorious good news of the ever-blessed God, with which I was entrusted.
12 Kai aka thaphoh mamih kah Khrih Jesuh Boeipa taengah uemonah ka khueh. Kai he uepom la m'poek dongah bibi la ng'khueh.
I am thankful to Christ Jesus, our Lord, who has been my strength, for showing that he thought me worthy of trust by appointing me to his ministry,
13 Lamhma la ska soehsal tih aka hnaemtaekkung neh hnaephnapkung la ka om. Tedae hnalvalnah dongah mangvawt la ka saii oeh dongah n'rhen.
though I once used to blaspheme, and to persecute, and to insult. Yet mercy was shown me, because I acted in ignorance, while still an unbeliever;
14 Mamih Boeipa kah lungvatnah tah Khrih Jesuh ah tangnah, lungnah neh pawk long.
and the loving kindness of our Lord was boundless, and filled me with that faith and love which come from union with Christ Jesus.
15 Ol tah uepom neh hlang boeih kah a doe tueng la om. Te dongah ni Khrih Jesuh tah hlangtholh khang ham Diklai la ha pawk. Amih khuiah kai tah tanglue la ka om coeng.
How true the saying is, and worthy of the fullest acceptance, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”! And there is no greater sinner than I!
16 Tedae he nen he n'rhen coeng. Te daengah ni Khrih Jesuh tah thinsennah boeih neh ka khuiah a tueng lamhma eh. Amah soah tangnah ham aka cai rhoek kah dungyan hingnah ham a ninglam pakhat la om sak ham ni. (aiōnios g166)
Yet mercy was shown me for the express purpose that Christ Jesus might exhibit in my case, beyond all others, his exhaustless patience, as an example for those who were afterwards to believe on him and attain eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Tahae ah kumhal kah Manghai, aka kuei, hmuhmueh Pathen bueng te hinyahnah neh thangpomnah kumhal kah kumhal duela om saeh. Amen. (aiōn g165)
To the eternal King, ever-living, invisible, the one God, be ascribed honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
18 Camoe Timothy nang te he oluen he kan tloeng. Nang soah tonghma ol bangla ka lamhma sak coeng. Te daengah ni te nen te aka then vathohnah te na vathoh thai eh.
This, then, is the charge that I lay on you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with what was predicted of you – Fight the good fight in the spirit of those predictions,
19 Tangnah neh aka then mingcimnah te pom lah. Te te hlangvang loh a tueihno uh dongah tangnah sangpho a poci pauh.
with faith, and with a clear conscience; and it is because they have thrust this aside, that, as regards the faith, some have wrecked their lives.
20 Amih khuiah Hymenaeus neh Alexander nuen rhoi van. Amih rhoi te Satan taengah ka voeih daengah ni ueih rhoi vetih a soehsal pawt eh.
Hymenaeus and Alexander are instances – the men whom I delivered over to Satan so that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
