1 Pathen kah kongaih rhangneh Jesuh Khrih kah caeltueih la a khue Paul neh manuca Sosthenes loh,
Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and brother Sosthenes,
2 Kawrin ah aka om tih Khrih Jesuh ah a ciim, hlangcim la a khue neh hmuen takuem ah mamih Boeipa Jesuh Khrih ming aka khue Pathen kah hlangboel taengah kan yaak sak. Boeipa tah amih neh mamih kah Boeipa ni.
to the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, along with all those everywhere who call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord —yes, theirs and yours:
3 A pa Pathen neh Boeipa Jesuh Khrih taeng lamkah lungvatnah neh ngaimongnah nangmih taengah om saeh.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and Sovereign Jesus Christ.
4 Khrih Jesuh ah nangmih te Pathen kah lungvatnah m'paek dongah nangmih ham khaw ka Pathen te ka uem yoeyah.
Concerning you, I always thank my God because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus;
5 A cungkuem dongah amah lamloh olka cungkuem nen khaw, mingnah cungkuem nen khaw na boei uh.
for in Him you were enriched in every way, in all speech and all knowledge,
6 Khrih kah laipai tah nangmih ah cak pataeng coeng.
even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
7 Te dongah mamih Boeipa Jesuh Khrih kah a pumphoenah aka lamtawn nangmih te kutdoe khat khaw na hlavawt uh moenih.
so that you lack no spiritual gift as you expectantly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8 Nangmih khaw mamih Boeipa Jesuh Khrih kah khohnin ah a bawt due amah loh cibit la n'cak sak bitni.
who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the Day of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
9 Uepom Pathen amah loh a capa Jesuh Khrih, mamih boeipa kah rhoinaengnah khuila ng'khue.
God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Now I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be restored to the same mind and to the same purpose.
11 Ka manuca rhoek, nangmih ah tohhaemnah om tila Khaloe rhoek loh kai taengah nangmih kawng a thuicaih.
You see, my brothers, it has been reported to me concerning you, by some from Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.
12 Te dongah hekah he ka thui. Nangmih ah khat rhip loh, “Kai tah Paul kah ni, Kai tah Apollo kah, Kai tah Kephas kah, kai tah Khrih kah,” na ti uh.
What I mean is that you are individually saying: “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ!”
13 Khrih loh a paekboe a? Nangmih ham Paul te a tai pawn pawt nim? Paul ming ah khaw na nuem uh a?
Has Christ been divided? It was not Paul who was crucified for you, was it? You were not baptized into the name of Paul, were you?
14 Krispu neh Kaiyu bueng mueh atah nangmih kan nuem pawt te Pathen ni ka uem.
I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 Te daengah ni kai ming neh nuem uh tila pakhat long khaw a thui pawt eh.
lest anyone should say that I had baptized into my own name.
16 Tahae ah Stephen cako tah ka nuem van tangloeng. Te phoeiah a tloe pakhat khaw ka nuem nim ka ming pawh.
O yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanus; besides them I do not remember if I baptized anyone else.
17 Aka nuem ham pawt tih olthangthen phong ham ni Khrih loh kai n'tueih. Calthai cueihnah nen moenih ta. Te daengah man Khrih kah thinglam tah a tlongtlai pawt ve.
Because Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel—not with eloquent ‘wisdom’, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of power.
18 Thinglam olthang tah aka poci rhoek ham angnah la om dae mamih a khang rhoek ham tah Pathen kah thaomnah la om.
The message of the cross, you see, is foolishness to those who are being wasted, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 A daek coeng dongah, aka cueih rhoek kah cueihnah te ka poci sak vetih lungming rhoek kah yakmingnah te ka hnawt ni.
For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and confound the shrewdness of the intelligent.”
20 Menim aka cueih? Menim cadaek? Ta kumhal kah oelhkung tah menim? Diklai kah cueihnah he Pathen loh a dap sak pawt nim? (aiōn g165)
Where is the wise one? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)
21 Pathen kah cueihnah neh ana khueh parhi te Diklai loh Pathen te cueihnah neh ana ming moenih. Pathen long tah olhoe kah angnah lamloh aka tangnah rhoek te khang ham a lungtlun.
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its ‘wisdom’ did not get to know God, it pleased God to save the believing ones through the ‘foolishness’ of what was preached—
22 Te dongah Judah rhoek loh miknoek a bih uh tih Greek rhoek loh cueihnah a toem uh.
since Jews request a sign while Greeks seek after wisdom,
23 A tai tangtae Khrih kawng he ka hoe uh dae Judah hlangvang ham thangkui neh namtom ham angnah la om.
but we proclaim a crucified Christ: an offense to Jews, foolishness to Greeks.
24 Tedae amih a khue tangtae Judah rhoek ham neh, Greek rhoek ham khaw Khrih he Pathen kah thaomnah neh Pathen kah cueihnah la om.
Now to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God,
25 Pathen kah ang tah hlang kah a cueih la om tih Pathen kah tattloel tah hlang kah thaomnah lakah a thaom ngai.
because the ‘foolishness’ of God is wiser than men, and the ‘weakness’ of God is stronger than men.
26 Te dongah, manuca rhoek, nangmih n'khuenah te pumsa ah tah muep cueih pawh. Thaom yet pawh, hlangtang khaw yet pawh tila na ming uh.
Just look at your calling, brothers: not many are wise, not many are powerful, not many are of noble birth, by human standards;
27 Tedae Diklai kah aka ang rhoek te Pathen loh a tuek daengah man aka cueih rhoek te yah a poh sak ve. Diklai kah tattloel rhoek te a tuek daengah man thaom rhoek te Pathen loh yah a poh sak ve.
but God has chosen the foolish things of the world that He might put the wise to shame, and God has chosen the weak things of the world that He might put the strong things to shame;
28 Diklai kah mathoe rhoek neh a hnaelcoe rhoek te Pathen loh a tuek. Aka khueh te hmil hamla aka khueh pawt te a tuek.
and God has chosen the lowly things of the world and the despised things—even the ‘nothings’—that He might nullify the ‘somethings’;
29 Te dongah pumsa boeih loh Pathen hmaiah pomsang uh boel saeh.
so that no flesh should boast in God's presence.
30 Tedae amah lamkah nen ni Khrih Jesuh ah na om uh. Anih tah mamih ham Pathen taengkah cueihnah, duengnah, cimcaihnah neh tlannah lam khaw om.
It is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God—also righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
31 Te dongah a daek vanbangla, aka pomsang long tah Boeipa ah pomsang saeh.
so that, as it is written: “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”
