1 Kaminawk mah hnuk hanah, kaminawk hmaa ah tahmenhaih hoi paek ih hmuen to sak han ai ah acoe oh: to tiah na sak o nahaeloe, van ah kaom nangcae ampa khae hoi tangqum na hnu o mak ai.
“Be careful that you don’t do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2 To pongah tahmenhaih hoiah hmuen to na paek o naah, minawk mah pakoeh hanah, angsah thaih kaminawk mah, Sineko hoi lamkrung ah sak o ih baktih toengah, nangmah hma ah mongkah baktiah ueng hmah. Loktang kang thuih o, Nihcae loe angmacae ih tangqum to hnuk o boeh.
Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a shofar before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
3 Toe nangcae mah hmuen na paek o naah, na bantang ban mah sak ih hmuen to banqoi ban mah panoek hmah nasoe:
But when you do merciful deeds, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand does,
4 to tiah ni na paek o ih hmuen to tamquta ah om ueloe, tamquta hoi khenkung nangcae ampa mah kamtuengah tangqum to na paek o tih.
so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
5 Lawk na thuih o naah, angsah thaih kaminawk baktiah om o hmah: nihcae loe minawk mah hnuk hanah, Sineko hoi lamkrung ah angdoet o moe, lawkthuih han a koeh o. Loktang kang thuih o, Nihcae loe angmacae ih tangqum to hnuk o boeh.
“When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
6 Toe nangcae mah lawk na thuih o naah, imthung ah akun oh, thok to kha oh loe, tamquta hoi kaom nangcae ampa khaeah lawkthui oh; to tiah ni tamquta hoi khenkung nangcae ampa mah kamtuengah tangqum to na paek o tih.
But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
7 Nangcae mah lawkthuih naah, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk baktiah, thui kok ih lok to thui o let hmah: nihcae loe kapop ah lawkthuih naah ni nihcae mah thuih ih lok to thaih pae tih, tiah a poek o.
In praying, don’t use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
8 Nangcae loe nihcae baktiah om o hmah: nangcae mah na hnih o ai naah, nang toeng o ih hmuen to nam Pa mah panoek boeh.
Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him.
9 To pongah nangcae mah hae tiah lawkthui oh, tiah a naa: Van ah kaom kaicae Ampa, na hmin saiqathaih om nasoe.
Pray like this: “‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
10 Na prae to angzo lai nasoe, van ih baktiah, na koehhaih, long nuiah sah lai nasoe.
Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Ni thokkruek caaknaek khawt na paek ah.
Give us today our daily bread.
12 Kaicae khae laiba tawn kaminawk ka tahmen o baktih toengah, kaicae ih laiba to tahmen ah.
Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
13 Pacuekhaih thungah na caeh haih hmah loe, kasae thung hoi na loisak ah: na prae loe, thacakhaih, lensawkhaih hoi dungzan ah om poe nasoe, Amen.
Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’
14 Minawk zaehaih na tahmen o nahaeloe, van ah kaom nam pa mah doeh nangcae zaehaih to tahmen toeng tih:
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 toe minawk zaehaih na tahmen o ai nahaeloe, nam pa mah doeh nangcae zaehaih to tahmen mak ai. Sithaw hmaa ah buhzaa ah
But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16 Nangcae mah buh na zah o naah, angsah thaih kaminawk baktiah, palungsethaih mikhmai to amtueng o sak hmah: nihcae loe minawk mah buhzah tiah panoek hanah, minawk hma ah mikhmai sae to amtueng o sak. Loktang kang thuih o, nihcae loe angmacae ih tangqum to hnuk o boeh.
“Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
17 Toe nangcae mah buh na zah o naah, ungsi to angnok oh loe, mikhmai to pathlak oh;
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
18 nangcae loe kaminawk hma ah buh na zaa o ai, tamquta ah kaom nangcae ampa hmaa ah ni buh na zah o: to tiah ni tamquta hoi khenkung, nangcae ampa mah kamtuengah tangqum to na paek o tih.
so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
19 Karaa hoi aek mah caak thaih moe, kamqunawk mah doeh pakhoih moe, paquk thaih ih, hae long nuiah hmuen to patung o hmah:
“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
20 karaa hoi aek mah caa thai ai, kamqunawk mah doeh pakhoih moe, paquk thai ai ih, van prae ah hmuen to patung oh:
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal;
21 hmuenmae ohhaih ahmuen ah ni, na palung doeh om toeng tih.
for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 Takpum ih hmaithaw loe mik hae ni: to pongah na mik to hoih nahaeloe, na takpum boih aang tih.
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.
23 Toe na mik to hoih ai nahaeloe, na takpum to ving boih tih. To pongah nangcae thung ih aanghaih to ving nahaeloe, to vinghaih loe kawkruk maw len!
But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
24 Mi mah doeh angraeng hnetto ih tok to sah hmaek thai ai: maeto hnuma ueloe, kalah maeto to palung tih; to tih ai boeh loe maeto patawn ueloe, kalah maeto loe prawt tih. Sithaw ih tok hoiah phoisa ih tok na sah hmaek thai mak ai.
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.
25 To pongah kang thuih o, Timaw ka caak moe, timaw ka naek han tiah, hing hanah mawn o hmah; timaw kang khuk han tiah, na takpum han mawn o hmah. Hinghaih loe caaknaek pongah lokpui kue moe, takpum doeh khukbuen pongah lokpui kue na ai maw?
Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 Van ih tavaanawk ho khen oh: nihcae loe cang tuh o ai, cang doeh aat o ai, tapup thungah doeh patung o ai; toe van ah kaom nangcae ampa mah nihcae to pacah: nangcae loe nihcae pongah na hoih o kue na ai maw?
See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?
27 Mawnhaih rang hoiah nangcae thung ih mi mah maw a sanghaih to dongto thap thaih?
“Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?
28 Tipongah angkhuk hanah na mawnh o loe? Lawk ih lili pawknawk loe toksah o ai, pathlah doeh kae o ai; toe kawbangah maw qoeng o tahang, tito khen oh:
Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,
29 toe kang thuih o, Solomon mah mataeng doeh, hae ih apawknawk baktiah a lensawkhaih boih hoiah amthoep ai.
yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
30 To baktih toengah, vaihniah hing moe, khawnbangah hmai thungah vah han koi lawk ih phroh mataeng doeh, Sithaw mah khenzawn nahaeloe, Aw tanghaih tamsi kaminawk, anih mah loe nangcae to kamtlai ah na khenzawn o mak ai maw?
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith?
31 To pongah timaw ka caak o moe, timaw ka naek o han? To tih ai boeh loe, timaw kang khuk o han, tito mawn o hmah.
“Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’
32 (Gentel kaminawk mah ni hae baktih hmuennawk hae pakrong o; ) hae baktih hmuennawk nang toeng o, tito van ah kaom nangcae ampa mah panoek.
For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 Sithaw prae hoi a toenghaih to pakrong o hmaloe ah; to pacoengah hae hmuennawk boih hae na paek o tih.
But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 To pongah khawnbang hanah mawn o hmah: khawnbang mah angmah ih hmuennawk hanah kho poek tih. Vaihni raihaih loe vaihni hanah khawt boeh.
Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.
