1 To pacoengah Jesu loe taqawk mah pacuek hanah, Muithla mah praezaek ah caeh haih.
Then Jesus was led up into the Wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the Devil.
2 Qum quipalito hoi ni quipalito buhzah pacoengah, anih loe zok amthlam.
And, after he had fasted for forty days and forty nights, he became hungry.
3 Pacuekkung loe anih khaeah caeh moe, Sithaw Capa ah na oh nahaeloe, hae ih thlungnawk hae takaw ah angcoengsak ah, tiah a naa.
And the Tempter came to him, and said: “If you are God’s Son, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”
4 Toe anih mah, Kami loe takaw khue hoiah hing mak ai, Sithaw pakha thung hoi tacawt lok hoiah ni hing tih, tiah tarik ih oh, tiah a naa.
But Jesus answered: “Scripture says — ‘It is not on bread alone that man is to live, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 To pacoengah taqawk mah anih to kaciim vangpui thungah caeh haih moe, tempul ranui ah ohsak.
Then the Devil took him to the Holy City, and, placing him on the parapet of the temple, said to him:
6 Anih khaeah, Na khok thlung pong daeng han ai ah, anih mah angmah ih van kaminawk to lokpaek ueloe, nihcae ih ban hoiah nang to na tapom o tih, tiah tarik ih lok oh baktih toengah, Sithaw Capa ah na oh nahaeloe, lungpung tathuk ah, tiah a naa.
“If you are God’s Son, throw yourself down, for Scripture says — ‘He will give his angels commands about thee, and on their hands they will upbear thee, lest ever thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Na Angraeng Sithaw to tanoek hmah, tiah tarik ih oh, tiah a naa.
“Scripture also says,” answered Jesus, “Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.’”
8 To pacoengah taqawk mah anih to maesang nuiah caeh haih moe, long nui ih praenawk hoi lensawkhaihnawk boih to patuek.
The third time, the Devil took Jesus to a very high mountain, and, showing him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour, said to him:
9 Anih khaeah, Na cangkrawn moe, kai nang bok nahaeloe, hae hmuennawk boih hae kang paek han, tiah a naa.
“All these I will give you, if you will fall at my feet and do homage to me.”
10 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Setan, hae ahmuen hoi tacawt ah: na Angraeng Sithaw khue to bok ah loe, Anih ih tok khue to sah ah, tiah tarik ih oh, tiah a naa.
Then Jesus said to him: “Begone, Satan! for Scripture says — ‘Thou shalt do homage to the Lord thy God, and worship him only.’”
11 To pacoengah loe taqawk mah anih to caehtaak, khenah, van kaminawk angzoh o moe, Anih ih tok to sak pae o.
Then the Devil left him alone, and angels came and ministered to him.
12 Johan thongim pakhrak o, tito Jesu mah thaih naah, anih loe Kalili prae ah amlaem;
When Jesus heard that John had been committed to prison, he retired to Galilee.
13 Nazareth vangpui to a caehtaak, tuipui taeng ih Zebulun hoi Naphtali prae angzithaih ahmuen ah kaom, Kapernuam vangpui ah a caeh moe, to ah khosak:
Afterwards, leaving Nazareth, he went and settled at Capernaum, which is by the side of the Sea, within the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali;
14 tahmaa Isaiah mah thuih ih lok akoep thai hanah,
in fulfilment of these words in the Prophet Isaiah —
15 Zebulun hoi Naphtali ih prae, tuipui caehhaih loklam, Jordan vapui yaeh, Gentel kaminawk ih Kalili;
‘The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the land of the Road by the Sea, and beyond the Jordan, with Galilee of the Gentiles —
16 vinghaih thungah anghnu kaminawk mah kalen parai aanghaih to hnuk o boeh; to prae thungah kaom, duekhaih tahlip ah anghnu kaminawk nuiah aanghaih to phak boeh, tiah thuih ih lok to akoep han ih ni to tiah oh.
The people who were dwelling in darkness have seen a great Light, and, for those who were dwelling in the shadow-land of Death, a Light has risen!’
17 To nathuem hoi kamtong Jesu mah, Dawnpakhuem oh; van prae loe zoi boeh, tiah tamthanglok thuih amtong.
At that time Jesus began to proclaim — “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
18 Jesu Kalili tuipui taengah caeh naah, Piter tiah kawk ih Simon hoi amnawk Andru, nawkamya hnik loe, tuipui ah palok haeng hoi; to naah Anih mah hnuk: nihnik loe tanga naeh kami ah oh hoi.
As Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers — Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew — casting a net into the Sea; for they were fishermen.
19 Anih mah nihnik khaeah, Ka hnuk ah bang hoih, kami naehkung ah kang sak hoi han, tiah a naa.
“Come and follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will set you to fish for men.”
20 Nihnik loe palok to vah hoi sut moe, Anih hnukah bang hoi.
The two men left their nets at once and followed him.
21 Anih to ahmuen hoiah tacawt pacoengah, ampa Zebedi hoi nawnto palong thungah palok pading, kalah nawkamya Zebedi ih capa Jakob hoi amnawk Johan to anih mah hnuk naah nihnik to a kawk.
Going further on, he saw two other men who were also brothers, James, Zebediah’s son, and his brother John, in their boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus called them,
22 Nihnik loe palong hoi ampa to caeh hoi taak moe, anih hnukah bang hoi roep.
and they at once left their boat and their father, and followed him.
23 Jesu loe Kalili prae thung boih ah caeh moe, Sineko ah kaminawk to patuk, siangpahrang mah ukkhaih prae tamthanglok hoih to a thuih pae, ngantui ai kaminawk hoi congca nathaih tawn kaminawk to ngan a tuisak.
And Jesus went all through Galilee, teaching in their Synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people;
24 To naah Syria prae boih ah Jesu kawng to amthang: congca nathaih tawn kami hoi congca patangkhanghaih tongh kaminawk, ngantui ai kaminawk, kamthunawk, taqawk tawn kaminawk, khok ban angtawt thai ai kaminawk boih, anih khaeah angzoh o haih, anih mah nihcae to ngantuisak.
and his fame spread all through Syria. They brought to him all who were ill with any form of disease, or who were suffering pain — any who were either possessed by demons, or were lunatic, or paralysed; and he cured them.
25 Kalili, Dekapoli, Jerusalem, Judea prae, Jordan vapui yaeh hoiah angzo paroeai kaminawk loe anih hnukah bang o.
And he was followed by large crowds from Galilee, the district of the Ten Towns, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
