Now when Yeshua was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
2 vaihiah tapen Judea kaminawk ih siangpahrang loe naa ah maw oh? Ni angyae bangah anih ih cakaeh to ka hnuk o pongah, anih bok hanah kang zoh o, tiah a thuih o.
“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”
3 To lok to Herod siangpahrang mah thaih naah, dawnrai, Jerusalem vangpui ih kaminawk boih dawnrai o.
When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 To naah anih mah kalen koek qaimanawk hoi ca tarikkungnawk to nawnto kawk cuu moe, Kri loe naa ah maw tapen tih, tiah a dueng.
Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Messiah would be born.
5 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Judea prae Bethlehem vangpui ah tapen tih: tahmaa mah,
They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,
6 Judea prae thung ih, Bethlehem, nang loe Judea prae ukkungnawk thungah kathoeng koek na ai ni; nang thung hoiah Ukkung to angzo ueloe, anih mah Kai ih Israel kaminawk to uk tih, tiah tarik ih oh, tiah a naa o.
‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a governor who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
7 To pacoengah Herod mah palungha kaminawk to kawk duem moe, natuek naah maw nihcae khaeah cakaeh amtueng pae, tito kahoihah dueng.
Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared.
8 To pacoengah nihcae to Bethlehem ah patoeh, Caeh oh loe nawkta to kahoihah pakrong oh; anih to na hnuk o naah tamthang na thaih o sak ah, kang zoh moe, anih to ka bok toeng han, tiah a naa.
He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”
9 Siangpahrang ih lok thaih pacoengah nihcae loe caeh o; khenah, ni angyae bangah a hnuk o ih cakaeh loe, nawkta ohhaih ahmuen to phak moe, anghak o ai karoek to nihcae hmaa ah caeh.
They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them until it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 Nihcae mah cakaeh to hnuk o naah, paroeai anghoehaih hoiah oh o.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
11 Imthug ah akun o naah loe, nawkta hoi Anih ih amno Meri to a hnuk o, khokkhu cangkrawn o moe, anih to a bok o: tangqum tabunawk to paongh o moe, sui, hmuihoih Frankinsin hoi myrrth to anih hanah paek o.
They came into the house and saw the young child with Miriam, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 Nihcae Herod khaeah amlaem let han ai ah Sithaw mah amang ah acoehaih paek pongah, loklam kalah bang hoiah angmacae prae ah amlaem o ving.
Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.
13 Nihcae amlaem o pacoengah, khenah, Angraeng ih van kami maeto Joseph ih amang ah amtueng pae, Angthawk ah, nawkta hoi Anih ih amno to lah loe, Izip prae ah cawn haih ah, to ah lok kang thui ai karoek to om ah; Herod mah nawkta hum hanah pakrong tih, tiah a naa.
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
14 Anih loe angthawk moe, nawkta hoi Anih ih amno to lak pacoengah, khoving ah Izip prae ah caeh haih:
He arose and took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt,
15 Anih loe to ah Herod dueh ai karoek to oh: Izip prae hoiah ka Capa to ka kawk, tiah tahmaa patohhaih rang hoiah Angraeng mah thuih ih lok akoep han ih ni to tiah oh.
and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
16 Palungha kaminawk mah ang ling boeh, tiah Herod mah panoek naah, paroeai palungphui; palungha kaminawk khaeah lokduenghaih atue pakoep pacoengah, kami patoeh moe, Bethlehem vangpui hoi a taengah kaom saning hnetto hoi atlim bang nawktanawk to humsak boih.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.
17 To naah Ramah vangpui thungah oihaih, qahhaih hoi palungsethaih lok to oh, Rachel mah a caanawk to qah haih, a caanawk om o ai boeh pongah, monghaih om ai boeh, tiah tahmaa Jeremiah mah thuih ih lok to akoep boeh.
Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
“A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”
19 Toe khenah, Herod duek pacoeng, Izip prae ah oh naah, Angraeng ih van kami maeto Joseph ih amang ah amtueng pae,
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
20 anih khaeah, Angthawk ah, nawkta hoi Anih ih amno to lah loe, Israel prae ah caeh haih ah; nawkta hinghaih lak han pakrong kaminawk loe duek o boeh, tiah a naa.
“Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into Eretz-Israel, for those who sought the young child’s life are dead.”
21 Anih loe angthawk moe, nawkta hoi Anih ih amno lak pacoengah, Israel prae ah amlaem haih.
He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into Eretz-Israel.
22 Toe anih mah Arkhelaus loe ampa Herod zuengah Judea prae to uk, tiah thaih naah to ah caeh hanah zit: Sithaw mah amang ah acoehaih paek baktih toengah, anih loe Kalili prae thungah caeh.
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee,
23 Anih loe Nazareth vangpui ah caeh moe, to ah khosak: Anih loe Nazareth kami, tiah kawk o tih, tiah tahmaanawk mah thuih o ih lok akoep han ih ni to tiah oh.
and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets that he will be called a Nazarene.
