< Marka 1 >

1 Sithaw Capa, kahoih Jesu Kri tamthanglok AMTONGHAIH loe hae tiah oh;
This is the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way.”

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”
4 Johan mah praezaek ah tuinuemhaih to paek moe, zaehaihnawk tahmen hanah, dawnpakhuem tuinuemhaih lok to thuih.
John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

People went out to him from all of Jerusalem and the countryside of Judea. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
6 Johan loe kaengkuu hrang moihin to angkhuk moe, moihin kaengkaeh to kaengah angzaeng; pakhuh hoi khoitui to buh ah a caak;
John was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

And he began to proclaim: “After me will come One more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.
8 Kai mah loe tui hoiah ni tuinuemhaih kang paek o: toe anih mah loe Kacai Muithla hoiah tuinuemhaih na paek o tih, tiah a thuih.
I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
9 Jesu loe Kalili prae Nazareth vangpui hoiah angzoh moe, Jordan vapui ah Johan mah tuinuemhaih to paek.
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 Jesu tui thung hoi angthawk tahang naah, vannawk to am-ongh moe, a nuiah anghum tathuk pahu baktih Muithla to a hnuk:
As soon as Jesus came up out of the water, He saw the heavens breaking open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove.
11 to naah van hoiah, Nang loe ka palung duek ih Capa ah na oh, a nuiah kang hoe parai, tiah lok angzoh tathuk.
And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
12 Akra ai ah Muithla mah Anih to praezaek ah caeh haih.
At once the Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness,
13 Anih loe ni quipalito thung praezaek ah oh moe, Setan pacuekhaih to a tongh; kasan moinawk hoi nawnto a oh; van kaminawk mah anih ih tok to sak pae o.
and He was there for forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels ministered to Him.
14 Johan thongim krak pacoengah, Jesu Kalili prae ah angzoh moe, Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae ih kahoih tamthanglok to taphong.
After the arrest of John, Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the gospel of God.
15 Atue akoep boeh, Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae loe zoi boeh: dawnpakhuem oh loe, kahoih tamthanglok to tang oh, tiah taphong.
“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!”
16 Anih Kalili tuipui taengah caeh naah, tuipui thungah palok haeng Simon hoi amnawk Andru to a hnuk, nihnik loe tanga naeh kami ah oh hoi.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
17 Jesu mah nihnik khaeah, Ka hnukah bang hoih, kami naehkung ah kang sak hoi han, tiah a naa.
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
18 Nihnik mah angmah hnik ih palok to a caeh hoi taak moe, Anih hnukah bang hoi.
And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
19 To ahmuen hoi kangthla kue ah a caeh pacoengah, palong thungah angmah hnik ih palok pading, Zebedi ih caa Jakob hoi amnawk Johan to a hnuk.
Going on a little farther, He saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat, mending their nets.
20 Nihnik to a kawk roep: nihnik loe ampa Zebedi hoi tamnanawk to caeh hoi taak moe, Anih hnukah caeh hoi.
Immediately Jesus called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him.
21 Nihcae loe Kapernuam vangpui ah caeh o; Sabbath niah loe Sineko thungah akun moe, kaminawk to patuk.
Then Jesus and His companions went to Capernaum, and right away Jesus entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and began to teach.
22 Anih loe ca tarik kaminawk baktiah patuk ai, sakthaihaih tawn kami baktiah patuk pongah, anih patukhaih to nihcae mah dawrai o.
The people were astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Nihcae ih Sineko thungah taqawk sae tawn kami maeto oh; anih loe hang moe,
Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue:
24 nang Nazareth Jesu, kaimacae hmawk ah om o ue; kaicae hoi nang asaenghaih timaw oh? Kaicae amroksak han ih maw nang zoh? Nang loe mi maw, tito ka panoek, Ciimcai Sithaw Maeto, tiah a naa.
“What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
25 Jesu mah, anghngai duem ah loe, anih takoh thung hoi tacawt ah, tiah zoeh.
But Jesus rebuked the spirit. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!”
26 Taqawk sae mah anih to asoek naah, anih loe tha hoi hangh moe, anih takoh thung hoiah tacawt.
At this, the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and came out with a loud shriek.
27 To naah nihcae boih dawnrai o, hae loe kawbaktih hmuen maw? Kawbaktih patukhaih kangtha maw? Anih mah sakthaihaih hoiah lok to thuih naah, kahoih ai taqawknawk mah mataeng doeh anih ih lok to tahngaih pae o, tiah angmacae hoi angmacae lok angdueng o.
All the people were amazed and began to ask one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!”
28 Akra ai ah anih kawng to Kalili prae boih ah amthang.
And the news about Jesus spread quickly through the whole region of Galilee.
29 Sineko hoi tacawt o pacoengah, Jakob, Johan, Simon hoi nawnto Andru im ah a caeh o.
As soon as Jesus and His companions had left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.
30 Toe Simon amsae nongpata loe ngannat moe, angsong sut, tiah nihcae mah Jesu khaeah thuih pae o.
Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and they promptly told Jesus about her.
31 Anih loe angzoh moe, nongpata ih ban to patawnh pae pacoengah, pathawk tahang; to naah nongpata loe ngantui roep moe, nihcae khetzawnhaih tok to a sak pae.
So He went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.
32 Duembang, ni akun naah loe nathaih congca tawn kaminawk hoi taqawk sae tawn kaminawk anih khaeah angzoh o haih.
That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were sick and demon-possessed,
33 Vangpui kaminawk boih thok taengah amkhueng o.
and the whole town gathered at the door.
34 Anih mah nathaih congca tawn pop parai kaminawk to ngan a tuisak, pop parai kahoih ai taqawknawk to a haek; nihcae mah anih loe mi maw tito panoek o pongah, taqawknawk to lok apae sak ai.
And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and drove out many demons. But He would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
35 Anih loe akhawnbang khawnthaw, khodai ai naah angthawk moe, kamding rue ahmuen ah caeh pacoengah, to ah lawk a thuih.
Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and slipped out to a solitary place to pray.
36 Simon hoi nawnto kaom kaminawk mah anih to pakrong o.
Simon and his companions went to look for Him,
37 Anih to hnuk o naah, kaminawk boih mah nang ang pakrong o, tiah a thuih pae o.
and when they found Him, they said, “Everyone is looking for You!”
38 Anih mah nihcae khaeah, A taengah kaom vangpui ah caeh o si, to ah tamthanglok ka thuih han, tiah a naa.
But Jesus answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns so I can preach there as well, for that is why I have come.”
39 Anih loe Kalili prae thung ih Sineko boih ah tamthanglok to thuih moe, taqawknawk to a haek.
So He went throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
40 Ngansae man kami maeto anih khaeah angzoh moe, khokkhu cangkrawn pacoengah, anih khaeah, Na koeh nahaeloe, kai hae nang ciimsak thaih, tiah a naa.
Then a leper came to Jesus, begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
41 Jesu mah tahmen pongah, a ban payangh moe, anih to sui, anih khaeah, Ka koeh; ciim lai ah, tiah a naa.
Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!”
42 To tiah a thuih pacoeng akra ai ah, ngansae nathaih to hoih pae roep, anih loe kaciim ah oh.
And immediately the leprosy left him, and the man was cleansed.
43 Anih mah kahoihah lokthuih pae moe, to kami to patoeh ving;
Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning:
44 to kami khaeah, Mi khaeah doeh thui hmah; toe caeh ah loe qaima khaeah ngan na tuihaih to patuek ah, nihcae khaeah hnukung ah oh hanah, Mosi mah paek ih kaalok baktih toengah hmuenpaekhaih to sah ah, tiah a naa.
“See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
45 Toe anih loe tasa bangah caeh moe, to kawng to thuih thai tawk a thuih pongah, ahmuen kruekah amthang, to pongah Jesu loe vangpui thungah kamtueng ah akun thai ai boeh, toe anih loe vangpui tasa bang ih kamding rue ahmuen ah oh: ahmuen kruek ih kaminawk anih khaeah angzoh o.
But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter.
