< Luka 23 >

1 Toah amkhueng paroeai kaminawk loe angthawk o moe, anih to Pilat khaeah caeh o haih.
And the whole company of them rose up, and brought him before Pilate.
2 Nihcae mah anih to kasae net o, Hae kami mah kaminawk aling moe, Caesar khaeah tamut paek han ai ah lok a thuih, angmah hoi angmah to Kri, Siangpahrang ni, tiah a thuih, tiah a naa o.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king.
3 Pilat mah anih to lokdueng, Nang loe Judahnawk ih Siangpahrang maw? tiah a naa. Anih mah, Na thuih ih baktiah ka oh, tiah a naa.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest.
4 Pilat mah kalen koek qaima hoi rangpuinawk khaeah, Hae kami zaehaih ka hnu ai, tiah a naa.
And Pilate said unto the chief priests and the multitudes, I find no fault in this man.
5 To naah nihcae mah tha hoi hangh o, Hae kami loe Kalili hoi kamtong hae ahmuen khoek to, Judah prae thung boih ah patukhaih sah kami, minawk ih palungthin pahruek kami ah oh, tiah a naa o.
But they were the more urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judæa, and beginning from Galilee even unto this place.
6 Pilat mah Kalili, tih ih lok to thaih naah, anih loe Kalili kami maw, tiah a dueng.
But when Pilate heard it, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.
7 Akra ai ah Jesu loe Herod ukhaih thungah kaom kami ni, tito Pilat mah panoek naah, Anih to Herod khaeah patoeh, Herod loe to nathuem ah Jerusalem ah oh.
And when he knew that he was of Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him unto Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem in these days.
8 Herod mah Jesu to hnuk naah, paroeai oephaih to tawnh: anih khae hoi thaih ih paroeai hmuennawk oh pongah, anih hnuk han koehhaih loe sawk parai boeh; anih mah sak ih dawnrai hmuen to hnuk han a koeh.
Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was of a long time desirous to see him, because he had heard concerning him; and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.
9 Anih mah pop parai ah lok to dueng; toe Jesu mah anih han tidoeh pathim pae ai.
And he questioned him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 Qaima hoi ca tarik kaminawk to ahmuen ah angdoet o moe, anih to zaehaih net o.
And the chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.
11 Herod hoi anih ih misatuh kaminawk mah Jesu to tiah doeh poek o ai, pahnui o thuih, anih hanah kahoih kahni to angkhuk o sak moe, Pilat khaeah patoeh o let.
And Herod with his soldiers set him at nought, and mocked him, and arraying him in gorgeous apparel sent him back to Pilate.
12 To na ni roe ah Pilat hoi Herod loe ampui ah oh hoi: canghniah loe maeto hoi maeto misa ah ni oh hoi.
And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 Pilat loe kalen koek qaima, ukkungnawk hoi kaminawk to nawnto kawk moe, nihcae khaeah,
And Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 hae kami mah misa angthawk hanah kaminawk to pacuek, tiah na thuih o pongah kai khaeah nang hoih o: khenah, nangcae hma ah anih hae lok ka caek boeh, toe na net o ih zaehaih baktiah hae kami nuiah zaehaih tidoeh ka hnu ai.
and said unto them, Ye brought unto me this man, as one that perverteth the people: and behold, I, having examined him before you, found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 Herod mah doeh a sakpazaehaih hnu ai: anih khaeah doeh kang patoeh o boeh, khenah, anih mah duek han kakrah sak ih zaehaih tidoeh om ai.
no, nor yet Herod: for he sent him back unto us; and behold, nothing worthy of death hath been done by him.
16 To pongah anih to ka thuitaek moe, ka prawt han, tiah a naa.
I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 (To poih thungah anih mah kami maeto rangpuinawk khaeah prawt pae han angaih).
18 To naah nihcae boih mah, Hae kami hae hum ah loe, Barabba to kaicae khae prawt ah, tiah nawnto hang o:
But they cried out all together, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: —
19 (Barabba loe vangpui thungah misa angthawk kami ah oh moe, kami hum pongah thongim ah pakhrak o).
one who for a certain insurrection made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.
20 Pilat mah Jesu to prawt han koeh pongah, nihcae khaeah lokthuih let.
And Pilate spake unto them again, desiring to release Jesus;
21 Toe nihcae mah, Thinglam pong takhing ah, thinglam pong takhing ah, tiah hangh o.
but they shouted, saying, Crucify, crucify him.
22 Pilat mah nihcae khaeah vai thumto, Tipongah, hae kami mah tih zaehaih maw sak? Anih hum hanah zaehaih tidoeh ka hnu ai: to pongah anih to ka thuitaek moe, ka prawt han, tiah a naa o.
And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath this man done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him and release him.
23 Toe anih to thinglam pong takhing ah, tiah kanung aep ah a hangh o. To naah rangpuinawk hoi kalen koek qaima ih lok mah pazawk.
But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
24 Nihcae mah hnik o ih baktih toengah Pilat mah paroi pae.
And Pilate gave sentence that what they asked for should be done.
25 Nihcae mah prawt han hnik o ih, misa angthawk moe, kami hum pongah, thongim ah pakhrak ih Barabba to nihcae khaeah a prawt pae; Jesu to angmacae koeh baktiah sak hanah nihcae khaeah a paek.
And he released him that for insurrection and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26 Anih to loklam ah a acaeh o haih li naah, vangta bang hoiah angzo, Cyrene prae ah kaom, Simon to a naeh o moe, Jesu hnukah thinglam aput o sak.
And when they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and laid on him the cross, to bear it after Jesus.
27 Paroeai kaminawk anih hnukah bang o, palungset hoiah kaqah nongpatanawk doeh anih hnukah bang o toeng.
And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him.
28 Jesu nihcae khaeah angqoi moe, Jerusalem canunawk, kai na qah o haih hmah, nangmacae hoi na caanawk to qah o haih ah.
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 Khenah, nihcae mah, Zokpom vai ai caa kak kaminawk hoi nawkta tahnu naesak vai ai nongpatanawk loe tahamhoih o, tiah thuih ih ninawk to pha tih.
For behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the breasts that never gave suck.
30 To naah nihcae mah, Maesangnawk khaeah, Kaicae hae tanim thui ah; maesomnawk khaeah, Kaicae hae taet ah, tiah naa o tih.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 Nihcae mah kahing thing to hae tiah sah o nahaeloe, kangqo thing cae loe kawbangah maw sah o tih? tiah a naa.
For if they do these things in the green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 Kami kazae hnik doeh thinglam pong takhing hanah anih hoi nawnto caeh o haih.
And there were also two others, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 Kalvary, tiah kawk ih ahmuen to phak o naah loe, anih to thinglam pongah takhing o, kami zae hnik doeh bantang bangah maeto, banqoi bangah kalah maeto takhing o toeng.
And when they came unto the place which is called The skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand and the other on the left.
34 Jesu mah, Pa, nihcae to tahmen ah; nihcae loe a sak o ih hmuen to panoek o ai, tiah a naa. Taham khethaih phoisa to azuh o moe, anih ih kahni to amzet o.
And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots.
35 Kaminawk loe angdoet o moe, khet o. Ukkungnawk mah anih to pahnui o thuih, kalah kaminawk to a pahlong; Sithaw mah qoih ih, Kri ah om nahaeloe, angmah hoi angmah to amhlong nasoe, tiah a naa o.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also scoffed at him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen.
36 Misatuh kaminawk doeh anih khaeah angzoh o, anih to pahnui o thuih moe, anih hanah kathaw tui to paek o,
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, offering him vinegar,

and saying, If thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself.
38 HAE LOE JUDAHNAWK IH SIANGPAHRANG, tiah Grik ca, Latin ca, Hebru ca hoiah a lu nuiah tarik pae o.
And there was also a superscription over him, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Thinglam pong takhing ih kami zae maeto mah, Nang loe Kri ah na oh nahaeloe, nangmah hoi nangmah to amhlong ah loe, kaihnik doeh pahlong khae, tiah hang thuih.
And one of the malefactors that were hanged railed on him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.
40 Toe kalah kami zae maeto mah loe anih to zoeh, Sithaw to na zii ai maw, nang loe anih hoi kangvan ah na ai maw danpaekhaih to na tongh?
But the other answered, and rebuking him said, Dost thou not even fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 Aihnik loe katoeng lokcaekhaih ni a hak hoi; a sak hoi ih hmuen baktih toengah ni tangqum to a hnuk hoi: toe hae kami loe zaehaih tidoeh sah ai, tiah a naa.
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 To pacoengah anih mah Jesu khaeah, Angraeng, siangpahrang ah na ukhaih prae ah phak naah kai na pahnet hmah, tiah a naa.
And he said, Jesus, remember me when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Loktang kang thuih, Vaihniah kai hoi nawnto paradise ah na om tih, tiah a naa.
And he said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in Paradise.
44 Atue tarukto hoi kamtong takawtto karoek to long nui boih ah khoving.
And it was now about the sixth hour, and a darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,
45 Ni aengh anghmat moe, tempul pakaa ih kahni to hnetto ah angsih.

46 Jesu loe tha hoiah hangh moe, Pa, ka hinghaih Muithla na ban ah kang paek, tiah thuih: to tiah thuih pacoengah a hinghaih qui to apet.
And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the ghost.
47 Misatuh angraeng mah to tiah kaom hmuen to hnuk naah, Sithaw to pakoeh moe, Hae loe kami katoeng ni, tiah thuih.
And when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 To ahmuen ah nawnto kaom kaminawk boih mah, to tiah kaom hmuennawk to hnuk o naah, angmacae ih saoek to atumh o moe, amlaem o.
And all the multitudes that came together to this sight, when they beheld the things that were done, returned smiting their breasts.
49 Anih panoek kaminawk boih hoi a hnukbang Kalili prae ih nongpatanawk loe, ahmuen kangthla ah angdoet o moe, to ah kaom hmuennawk to khet o.
And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed with him from Galilee, stood afar off, seeing these things.
50 Khenah, Joseph, tiah ahmin kaom kami maeto oh, anih loe lok takroekkung maeto ah oh; anih loe kahoih kami, katoeng kami ah oh:
And behold, a man named Joseph, who was a councillor, a good and righteous man

52 Anih loe Pilat khaeah caeh moe, Jesu ih qok to hnik.
this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
53 Qok to a lak moe, puu kahni hoiah ayaw pacoengah, mi doeh aphum vai ai ih, thlung hoiah thuk ih taprong thungah pasong.
And he took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn in stone, where never man had yet lain.
54 To ni loe amprikcaihaih niah oh moe, Sabbath ni to anghnai boeh.
And it was the day of the Preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 Kalili prae hoiah Jesu hnukbang nongpatanawk loe, Joseph hnukah bang o moe, anih ih qok kawbangmaw pasong o, tito khet hanah, taprong ah caeh o.
And the women, who had come with him out of Galilee, followed after, and beheld the tomb, and how his body was laid.
56 To pacoengah im ah amlaem o moe, hmuihoihtuinawk to a sak o: toe nihcae loe kaalok baktih toengah Sabbath niah loe anghak o.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments. And on the sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
