It happened on the Sabbath Day when he went into the house of a certain ruler among Pharisees to take a meal, that they were watching him.

And lo! there was in front of him a man who had dropsy.

So Jesus questioned the lawyers and the Pharisees, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath Day or not?"
4 Nihcae mah pathim pae o ai. Anih mah, nganna kami to ngantuisak moe, a caehsak;
They kept silent. Then Jesus took him and healed him and let him go.

6 Anih mah hae tiah dueng ih loknawk to nihcae mah pathim pae o thai ai.
They could not answer this.
7 Anghnuthaih hmuensang kaqoi, buh pangh han kawk ih kaminawk to anih mah hnuk; to naah nihcae khaeah hae patahhaih lok hae a thuih pae.
He told a parable to the guests when he noticed how they began choosing the best seats. He said to them.
8 Kami maeto mah zu paluemhaih poihkung ah buhcaak han ang kawk o naah, anghnuthaih hmuensang to qoi o hmah; nangcae pong kalen kue kami buhcaak kung ah kawk o moeng nahaeloe;
"When you are invited by any one to a marriage-feast, do not sit down in the best seat, lest a guest more distinguished than yourself has been invited, and your host come to you and say,

10 To pongah minawk mah buhcaak han ang kawk o naah, caeh oh loe, anghnuthaih ahmuen kahnaem koek ah anghnu oh; to naah ni buhcaak han na kawkkung to angzo ueloe, nang khaeah, Ampui anghnuthaih hmuensang ah anghnu ah, tiah na naa tih: to tiah ni buhcaak han angzo kami boih hmaa ah pakoehhaih na hnu tih.
"But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when your host arrives he may say to you, ‘My friend, come up higher.’ Then you will be honored before the other guest.
11 Mi kawbaktih doeh angmah hoi angmah amkoeh kami loe krah tathuk tih; mi tlim ah kaom kami loe pakoehhaih hnu tih, tiah a naa.
"For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
12 Jesu mah anih buhcaak han kawk kami khaeah, duembuh maw, to tih ai boeh loe duembuh caakhaih poih maw na sak naah, nam puinawk, nam nawkamyanawk, na caanawk hoi imtaeng ih angraengnawk to kawk hmah; na kawk nahaeloe nihcae mah nang to na kawk o toeng tih, na sak ih baktih toengah na pathok o roep tih.
Also to his host who had invited him, he continued, saying. "When you are making a dinner-party or a supper, do not invite your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your rich neighbors, lest it chance that they invite you in return, and a recompense be made by you.
13 To pongah buhcaakhaih poih na sak naah, kamtang kami, khokkhaem kami, takpum koep ai kaminawk hoi mikmaengnawk to kawk oh:

15 To loknawk to angmah hoi nawnto anghnu kami maeto mah thaih naah, Anih khaeah, Sithaw ukhaih prae ah buh caa kami loe tahamhoih, tiah a naa.
One of his fellow guest who was listening to him, said to him, "Blessed are those who eat bread in the kingdom of God."
16 Anih mah to kami khaeah, Kami maeto loe kalen parai buhraenghaih poih to sak moe, pop parai kaminawk to kawk:
Jesus answered. "A certain man was making a great feast to which he invited many guests.

"At dinnertime he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’
18 Toe nihcae loe loihhaih loklam to pakrong o. Hmaloe koek kami mah anih khaeah, Long ahmuen to ka qanh, ka caeh moe, khet han angai vop: tahmenhaih hoiah na prawt raeh, tiah a naa.

19 Kalah maeto mah, Maitaw pangato ka qanh, ka caeh moe, tanoek han angai vop: tahmenhaih hoiah na prawt raeh, tiah a naa.
"The second said. ‘I have bought five yolk of oxen and am on my way to try them. I pray that you will have me excused.’
20 Kalah maeto mah, Kai loe zu ka lak, kang zo thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
"‘I have taken a wife,’ said the another, ‘and for that reason I am unable to come.’

"So the slave came and presented all these answers to his master. Then the master of the house was indignant, and said to his slave. ‘Go out, quickly, into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in hither the poor, the maimed, the blind, the lame.’
22 Tamna mah, Angraeng, nang thuih ih baktih toengah ka sak boeh, toe ahmuen loe kong vop, tiah a naa.

Great crowds were along with him, and he turned to them and said.

27 Mi kawbaktih doeh angmah ih thinglam apu ai ah, ka hnukah bang kami loe, ka hnukbang kami ah om thai mak ai.

32 To tih ai boeh loe anih mah tuk pazawk han koiah om ai nahaeloe, misanawk loklam ah angzoh o li naah, laicaeh to patoeh ueloe, angdaehhaih to sah tih.

33 To baktih toengah mi kawbaktih doeh a tawnh ih hmuennawk to caehtaak ai kami loe, ka hnukbang kami ah om thai mak ai.
"Just so any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
34 Paloi loe hoih: toe a khrumhaih to anghmaa nahaeloe, kawbangmaw khrumsak let thai tih?
"Salt is good, but if even the salt have lost its flavor, with what shall it be seasoned?
35 Kahoih long baktiah patoh han ih hoih ai, maitaw aek ah patoh han ih doeh hoih ai; kaminawk mah vah sut han ih ni oh boeh. Thaih hanah naa tawn kami loe, thaih nasoe, tiah a naa.
"It is fit neither for the land nor the dung-hill; men cast it out. He who has ears to hear let him listen to this!"
