< Luka 14 >

1 Sabbath niah loe kalen koek Farasi im ah buhcaak hanah a caeh, nihcae mah anih kawbangmaw buhcaak, tito khet o.
And it came to pass, when Jesus went into the house of one of the chief of the Pharisees, on the sabbath day, to eat bread, that they watched him.
2 Khenah, anih hmaa ah tui mah caak ih nathaih tawn kami maeto oh.
And behold, there was a certain man before him that had the dropsy.
3 Jesu mah ca tarik kaminawk hoi Farasinawk khaeah, Sabbath niah ngantuisak thaih maw? tiah lokdueng o.
And Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying: Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
4 Nihcae mah pathim pae o ai. Anih mah, nganna kami to ngantuisak moe, a caehsak;
But they held their peace. But he taking him, healed him, and sent him away.
5 nihcae khaeah, Nangcae thung ih kami maeto mah laa hrang maw, to tih ai boeh loe maitaw tae maw Sabbath niah tangqom thungah krah nahaeloe, na la o mak ai maw? tiah a naa.
And answering them, he said: Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fall into a pit, and will not immediately draw him out, on the sabbath day?
6 Anih mah hae tiah dueng ih loknawk to nihcae mah pathim pae o thai ai.
And they could not answer him to these things.
7 Anghnuthaih hmuensang kaqoi, buh pangh han kawk ih kaminawk to anih mah hnuk; to naah nihcae khaeah hae patahhaih lok hae a thuih pae.
And he spoke a parable also to them that were invited, marking how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:
8 Kami maeto mah zu paluemhaih poihkung ah buhcaak han ang kawk o naah, anghnuthaih hmuensang to qoi o hmah; nangcae pong kalen kue kami buhcaak kung ah kawk o moeng nahaeloe;
When thou art invited to a wedding, sit not down in the first place, lest perhaps one more honourable than thou be invited by him:
9 imkung mah nang khaeah angzo ueloe, Nang hnuthaih ahmuen to hae kami hanah paek ah, tiah na naa tih. To naah azat hoiah ni anghnuthaih ahmuen kahnaem ah nang hnu tih.
And he that invited thee and him, come and say to thee, Give this man place: and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place.
10 To pongah minawk mah buhcaak han ang kawk o naah, caeh oh loe, anghnuthaih ahmuen kahnaem koek ah anghnu oh; to naah ni buhcaak han na kawkkung to angzo ueloe, nang khaeah, Ampui anghnuthaih hmuensang ah anghnu ah, tiah na naa tih: to tiah ni buhcaak han angzo kami boih hmaa ah pakoehhaih na hnu tih.
But when thou art invited, go, sit down in the lowest place; that when he who invited thee, cometh, he may say to thee: Friend, go up higher. Then shalt thou have glory before them that sit at table with thee.
11 Mi kawbaktih doeh angmah hoi angmah amkoeh kami loe krah tathuk tih; mi tlim ah kaom kami loe pakoehhaih hnu tih, tiah a naa.
Because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.
12 Jesu mah anih buhcaak han kawk kami khaeah, duembuh maw, to tih ai boeh loe duembuh caakhaih poih maw na sak naah, nam puinawk, nam nawkamyanawk, na caanawk hoi imtaeng ih angraengnawk to kawk hmah; na kawk nahaeloe nihcae mah nang to na kawk o toeng tih, na sak ih baktih toengah na pathok o roep tih.
And he said to him also that had invited him: When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor thy neighbours who are rich; lest perhaps they also invite thee again, and a recompense be made to thee.
13 To pongah buhcaakhaih poih na sak naah, kamtang kami, khokkhaem kami, takpum koep ai kaminawk hoi mikmaengnawk to kawk oh:
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind;
14 to tiah na sak o nahaeloe tahamhoihaih na hnu o tih; nihcae loe nang hanah pathok o let thai ai, toe katoeng kaminawk angthawk lethaih niah na pathok let tih, tiah a naa.
And thou shalt be blessed, because they have not wherewith to make thee recompense: for recompense shall be made thee at the resurrection of the just.
15 To loknawk to angmah hoi nawnto anghnu kami maeto mah thaih naah, Anih khaeah, Sithaw ukhaih prae ah buh caa kami loe tahamhoih, tiah a naa.
When one of them that sat at table with him, had heard these things, he said to him: Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Anih mah to kami khaeah, Kami maeto loe kalen parai buhraenghaih poih to sak moe, pop parai kaminawk to kawk:
But he said to him: A certain man made a great supper, and invited many.
17 duembuh caakhaih atue phak naah buhcaak han kawkkung mah a kawk ih kaminawk khaeah a tamna to patoeh moe, Hmuennawk boih loe sakcoek boeh, angzo oh, tiah a kawksak.
And he sent his servant at the hour of supper to say to them that were invited, that they should come, for now all things are ready.
18 Toe nihcae loe loihhaih loklam to pakrong o. Hmaloe koek kami mah anih khaeah, Long ahmuen to ka qanh, ka caeh moe, khet han angai vop: tahmenhaih hoiah na prawt raeh, tiah a naa.
And they began all at once to make excuse. The first said to him: I have bought a farm, and I must needs go out and see it: I pray thee, hold me excused.
19 Kalah maeto mah, Maitaw pangato ka qanh, ka caeh moe, tanoek han angai vop: tahmenhaih hoiah na prawt raeh, tiah a naa.
And another said: I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to try them: I pray thee, hold me excused.
20 Kalah maeto mah, Kai loe zu ka lak, kang zo thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
And another said: I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 To tamna loe angzoh moe, to tiah kaom hmuen kawng to angmah ih angraeng khaeah thuih pae boih. To naah im tawnkung loe palungphui, a tamna khaeah, Vangpui thung ih kalen loklam hoi tamcaek loklamnawk ah karangah caeh ah loe, amtang kami, khokkhaem kami hoi mikmaengnawk to haeah na hoiah, tiah a naa.
And the servant returning, told these things to his lord. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant: Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the feeble, and the blind, and the lame.
22 Tamna mah, Angraeng, nang thuih ih baktih toengah ka sak boeh, toe ahmuen loe kong vop, tiah a naa.
And the servant said: Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 Angraeng mah a tamna khaeah, Lampui hoi takha taengah caeh ah loe, ka im ah kami koi thai hanah, nihcae to pacae nganga ah.
And the Lord said to the servant: Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 Kang thuih o, Ka kawk ih kawbaktih to kaminawk mah kai ih duembuh to pataengh o mak ai, tiah a naa.
But I say unto you, that none of those men that were invited, shall taste of my supper.
25 Pop parai kaminawk loe anih hoi nawnto caeh o: to naah anih mah angqoi moe, nihcae khaeah,
And there went great multitudes with him. And turning, he said to them:
26 mi kawbaktih doeh ampa, amno, a zu, a caanawk, nawkamyanawk hoi tanuhnawk, ue, a hinghaih to hnuma ai ah, kai khaeah angzo kami loe, ka hnukbang kami ah om thai mak ai.
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 Mi kawbaktih doeh angmah ih thinglam apu ai ah, ka hnukah bang kami loe, ka hnukbang kami ah om thai mak ai.
And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 Nangcae thung ih kami maeto mah, imsang maeto sak han atim nahaeloe, anih mah anghnu ueloe, im sak hanah tangka khawt maw khawt ai, tito pakoep hmaloe mak ai maw?
For which of you having a mind to build a tower, doth not first sit down, and reckon the charges that are necessary, whether he have wherewithal to finish it:
29 Poek het ai ah anih mah im to sah amtong moe, pacoeng thai ai nahaeloe, hnu kaminawk mah anih to pahnui o thui tih,
Lest, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that see it begin to mock him,
30 hae kami loe im sak amtong, toe pacoeng thai ai, tiah thui o tih.
Saying: This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 To tih ai boeh loe kami sang pumphae to hoi nawnto angzo kalah siangpahrang to tuk hanah, anih mah kami sang hato hoiah tuk pazawk tih maw pazawk mak ai, tito panoek hanah, anghnut moe, pakoep hmaloe ai ah misatuk han amsak siangpahrang om tih maw?
Or what king, about to go to make war against another king, doth not first sit down, and think whether he be able, with ten thousand, to meet him that, with twenty thousand, cometh against him?
32 To tih ai boeh loe anih mah tuk pazawk han koiah om ai nahaeloe, misanawk loklam ah angzoh o li naah, laicaeh to patoeh ueloe, angdaehhaih to sah tih.
Or else, whilst the other is yet afar off, sending an embassy, he desireth conditions of peace.
33 To baktih toengah mi kawbaktih doeh a tawnh ih hmuennawk to caehtaak ai kami loe, ka hnukbang kami ah om thai mak ai.
So likewise every one of you that doth not renounce all that he possesseth, cannot be my disciple.
34 Paloi loe hoih: toe a khrumhaih to anghmaa nahaeloe, kawbangmaw khrumsak let thai tih?
Salt is good. But if the salt shall lose its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 Kahoih long baktiah patoh han ih hoih ai, maitaw aek ah patoh han ih doeh hoih ai; kaminawk mah vah sut han ih ni oh boeh. Thaih hanah naa tawn kami loe, thaih nasoe, tiah a naa.
It is neither profitable for the land nor for the dunghill, but shall be cast out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
