< Joshua 17 >

1 Manasseh loe Josep ih calu ah oh; Makir doeh Manasseh ih calu ah oh pongah, Manasseh acaeng hanah taham khethaih phoisa to vah moe, qawktoep ih prae loe hae tiah oh; Makir loe misahoih misatuh kami ah oh moe, Gilead hoi Bashan prae to toep; Makir loe Gilead kaminawk ih ampa ah oh.
And the lot is for the tribe of Manasseh (for he [is] firstborn of Joseph), for Machir firstborn of Manasseh, father of Gilead, for he has been a man of war, and his are Gilead and Bashan.
2 Joseph capa Manasseh ih caa nongpa ah kaom, Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Shekem, Hepher hoi Shemida acaengnawk loe, taham khethaih phoisa vah o ih baktih toengah prae to a toep o.
And there is [a lot] for the sons of Manasseh who are left, for their families; for the sons of Abiezer, and for the sons of Helek, and for the sons of Asriel, and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher, and for the sons of Shemida; these [are] the children of Manasseh son of Joseph—the males—by their families.
3 Manasseh capa Makir, Makir capa Gilead, Gilead capa Hepher, Hepher capa Zelophehad loe ca nongpa tawn ai, canu khue ni a tawnh; anih ih canu hminnawk loe Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah hoi Tirzah.
As for Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, he has no children except daughters, and these [are] the names of his daughters: Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah,
4 Nihcae loe qaima Eleazar, Nun capa Joshua hoi zaehoikungnawk khaeah caeh o moe, Kam nawkamyanawk salakah qawktoep hanah Angraeng mah Mosi khaeah lokpaek boeh, tiah a naa o. To pongah Angraeng mah paek ih lok baktih toengah, Joshua mah ampanawk ih nawkamyanawk salakah nihcae hanah qawk to paek.
and they draw near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, “YHWH commanded Moses to give an inheritance to us in the midst of our brothers”; and he gives to them, at the command of YHWH, an inheritance in the midst of the brothers of their father.
5 Manasseh loe Jordan vapui ni angyae bangah kaom, Gilead hoi Bashan pacoengah, kalah ahmuen hato doeh anih taham ah paek o bae vop;
And ten portions fall [to] Manasseh, apart from the land of Gilead and Bashan, which [are] beyond the Jordan;
6 Manasseh ih canunawk doeh capanawk hoi nawnto qawk to toep o pongah, kalah Manasseh ih capanawk mah Gilead prae to toep o.
for the daughters of Manasseh have inherited an inheritance in the midst of his sons, and the land of Gilead has been for the sons of Manasseh who are left.
7 Manasseh ih prae loe Asher prae thung hoiah caeh moe, Shekem vangpui hmaa ah kaom, Mikmethath karoek to kawk; to ahmuen hoi bantang bangah caeh tathuk moe, En-Tappuah kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen khoek to athum.
And the border of Manasseh is from Asher to Michmethah, which [is] on the front of Shechem, and the border has gone on to the right, to the inhabitants of En-Tappuah.
8 Manasseh mah Tappuah prae to toep; toe Manasseh ramri ah kaom, Tappuah vangpui loe Ephraim kaminawk mah toep o.
The land of Tappuah has been for Manasseh, and Tappuah to the border of Manasseh for the sons of Ephraim.
9 Ramri loe Kanah vapui aloih bangah caeh tathuk poe, Manasseh ih vangpuinawk salakah Ephraim ih thoemto vangpuinawk athum toeng; toe Manasseh ih ramri loe, vapui ranui bang khoek to caeh tahang moe, tuipui ah boeng.
And the border has come down [to] the Brook of Kanah, southward of the brook; these cities of Ephraim [are] in the midst of the cities of Manasseh, and the border of Manasseh [is] on the north of the brook, and its outgoings are at the sea.
10 Aloih bangah Ephraim ih prae to oh moe, aluek bangah loe Manasseh ih prae to oh; tuipui loe Manasseh prae ramri ah oh; aluek bangah loe Asher hoi angbet, ni angyae bangah loe Issakar hoi angbet.
Southward [is] for Ephraim and northward for Manasseh, and the sea is his border, and in Asher they meet on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
11 To prae thung hoi Manasseh mah toep ih prae thumtonawk loe, Beth-Shean vangpui hoi a taeng ih vangpuinawk, Ibleam vangpui hoi a taeng ih vangpuinawk, Dor vangpui hoi a taengah kaom vangpuinawk hoi kaminawk, En-Dor vangpui hoi a taengah kaom kaminawk, Taanak vangpui hoi a taengah kaom kaminawk, Megiddo vangpui hoi a taengah kaom kaminawk boih athum o.
And in Issachar and in Asher, Manasseh has Beth-Shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns—three counties.
12 Toe Manasseh kaminawk loe to vangpuinawk thungah kaom kaminawk to haek o thai ai; to pongah Kanaan kaminawk loe to vangpuinawk thungah oh o poe.
And the sons of Manasseh have not been able to occupy these cities, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in this land,
13 Toe Israel kaminawk thacak o aep aep naah loe, Kanaan kaminawk to haek boih ai, tamut to paek o sak.
and it comes to pass, when the sons of Israel have been strong, that they put the Canaanite to forced labor, and have not utterly dispossessed him.
14 Joseph ih acaengnawk mah Joshua khaeah, Kaicae loe Angraeng mah tahamhoihaih paek pongah, paroeai kami ka pop o, toe tipongah kaicae han taham khethaih phoisa maeto khue nang vahsak moe, ahmuen maeto khue qawk ah nang paek loe? tiah a naa o.
And the sons of Joseph speak with Joshua, saying, “Why have you given an inheritance to me—one lot and one portion, and I [am] a numerous people? YHWH has blessed me until now.”
15 To naah Joshua mah nihcae khaeah, Na pop o parai moe, Ephraim ahmuen maeto nangcae han khawt ai boeh nahaeloe, taw ah caeh o tahangh loe, Periz hoi kalen parai kaminawk ih prae to, nangmacae han lawk ah vaat oh, tiah a naa.
And Joshua says to them, “If you [are] a numerous people, go up to the forest for yourself, then you have created [a place] for yourself there in the land of the Perizzite and of the Rephaim, when Mount Ephraim has been narrow for you.”
16 Joseph ih caanawk mah, Mae nui loe kaicae han khawt ai boeh; azawn ah kaom Kanaan kaminawk, Beth-Shan hoi Jezreel azawn ah kaom kaminawk boih loe, sum hoi sak ih hrang lakok to tawnh o boih, tiah a naa o.
And the sons of Joseph say, “The mountain is not enough for us, and a chariot of iron [is] with every Canaanite who is dwelling in the land of the valley—to him who [is] in Beth-Shean and its towns, and to him who [is] in the Valley of Jezreel.”
17 Joshua mah Joseph imthung takoh, Ephraim imthung takoh hoi Manasseh imthung takoh khaeah, Nangcae loe paroeai na pop o moe, tha doeh na cak o; to pongah taham khethaih phoisa maeto khue na va o mak ai;
And Joshua speaks to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, “You [are] a numerous people, and have great power; you do not have [only] one lot,
18 mae loe nangcae taham ah ni om tih; taw ah oh pongah, lawk ah vaat oh loe, na vah o thai thung nangcae taham ah om tih; Kanaan kaminawk loe thacak o moe, sum hoi sak ih hrang lakok tawn o cadoeh, na haek o boih thai tih, tiah a naa.
because the mountain is yours; because it [is] a forest—you have created it, and its outgoings have been yours; because you dispossess the Canaanite, though it has chariots of iron—though it [is] strong.”
