< Johan 6 >

1 To pacoengah Jesu loe Kalili tuipui yaeh ah kaom, Tiberia tuipui ah caeh.
After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, or Tiberias.
2 Nathaih tawn kaminawk nuiah a sak ih dawnrai hmuen to hnuk o pongah, paroeai kaminawk anih hnukah bang o.
And a huge crowd was following Him because they had seen His signs that He kept performing on the sick.
3 Jesu loe mae nuiah dawh moe, a hnukbang kaminawk hoi nawnto anghnut.
So Jesus went up on the mountain and sat down there with His disciples.
4 Judahnawk ih misong loihhaih poih loe, zoi boeh.
(Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.)
5 Jesu mah doeng tahang naah, anih khaeah angzo paroeai kaminawk to hnuk, to naah anih mah Philip khaeah, Hae kaminawk caak o hanah naa ah maw takaw a qan o han? tiah a naa.
Then, raising His eyes and observing that a huge crowd was coming toward Him, Jesus says to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread so that these folks may eat?”
6 Anih mah a sak han koi hmuen to panoek boeh, toe Philip to tanoek hanah hae lok hae a thuih.
Now He said this to test him, for He Himself knew what He was about to do.
7 Philip mah anih khaeah, denari cumvai hnetto tho takaw qan cadoeh nihcae han khawt mak ai, kami maeto mah zetta ni hak o tih, tiah a naa.
Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for them, so that each of them could receive a little.”
8 A hnukbang kami maeto, Simon Piter ih amnawk Andru mah, anih khaeah,
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says to Him,
9 Barley cang hoi sak ih takaw pangato hoi tanga tetta katawn nawkta maeto haeah oh: toe kami hae zetto hanah loe tiah maw angcoeng tih? tiah a naa.
“There is a little boy here who has five loaves of barley bread and two small fish, but what are they for so many?”
10 Jesu mahkaminawk anghnu o sak ah, tiah a naa. To ahmuen loe paroeai phroh pop ahmuen ah oh. Sang pangato thuemtham kaom kaminawk loe phroh nuiah anghnut o.
Then Jesus said, “Make the people recline.” Now there was plenty of grass in the place; so the men reclined, about five thousand in number.
11 Jesu mah takaw to lak moe, kawnhaih lawkthuih pacoengah, hnukbang kaminawk khaeah a paek; hnukbang kaminawk mah toah anghnu kaminawk hanah pazet pae o; to baktih toengah tanga doeh kaminawk zok amhah hanah a paek.
Then Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were reclining; so too with the fish, as much as they wanted.
12 To kaminawk zok amhah o pacoengah, Anih mah a hnukbang kaminawk khaeah, Caaknoinawk to phrom oh, tidoeh anghmat o sak hmah, tiah a naa.
So when they were full He says to His disciples, “Collect the leftover fragments so that nothing be wasted.”
13 Kaminawk mah zok amhah ah caak o pacoengah, barley takaw pangato hoiah kamtlai caaknoinawk to a phrom o naah, benthang hatlai hnetto koi.
So they collected and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves that were left over from those who had eaten.
14 Jesu mah sak ih dawnrai hmuen to pop parai kaminawk mah hnuk o naah, Hae kami loe long nuiah angzo han koi Tahmaa tangtang boeh ni, tiah thuih o.
Now then, having seen the miraculous sign that Jesus performed the men said, “This One really is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
15 Nihcae angzo o ueloe, anih to Siangpahrang ah om o sak nganga tih, tiah Jesu mah panoek naah, angmah bueng mae ah oh hanah caehtaak.
So Jesus, perceiving that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew up the mountain again by Himself, alone.
16 Aduem bang phak naah, a hnukbang kaminawk loe tuipui ah caeh o tathuk,
Now as evening came on His disciples had gone down to the sea,
17 palong thungah akun o moe, Kapernuam avang ah caeh o. Khoving boeh, toe Jesu loe nihcae khae pha ai vop.
and getting into the boat they started to go across the sea toward Capernaum. Well it had been dark for a while and Jesus had not come to them.
18 Takhi sae song pongah tuiphu angthawk tahang.
Further, the sea was being agitated by a strong wind blowing.
19 Nihcae mah meng thumto maw, to tih ai boeh loe meng palito maw palong mong o pacoengah, palong ohhaih bangah tuipui nuiah kacaeh Jesu to nihcae mah hnuk o; nihcae loe zit o.
Then, after they had rowed some three or four miles, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat; and they were afraid.
20 Toe Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Zii o hmah; Kai ni, tiah a naa.
But He said to them, “It is I; don't be afraid!”
21 To pacoengah nihcae mah Anih to palong thungah akun o sak: akra ai ah palong hoiah caeh han amsak o ih ahmuen to a phak o.
Then they wanted to receive Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
22 Khawnbang phak naah, tuipui yaeh ah angdoe kaminawk loe a hnukbang kaminawk mah angthueng o ih palong khue ai ah loe, toah kalah palong om ai boeh, tito panoek o, a hnukbang kaminawk loe angmacae bueng ni caeh o, Jesu loe a hnukbang kaminawk hoi nawnto palong thungah akun ai;
The next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea, having seen that there was no other boat there except the one into which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not gotten into the boat with His disciples but only His disciples had gone away—
23 (toe kalah palongnawk loe Angraeng mah kawnhaih lawkthuih pacoengah, nihcae takaw caakhaih ahmuen taengah Tiberia bang hoiah angzoh o: )
although other boats had come from Tiberias, near the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks—
24 to ih kaminawk mah Jesu hoi a hnukbang kaminawk to ih ahmuen ah om o ai boeh, tiah panoek o naah, palong to angthueng o moe, Jesu pakrong hanah, Kapernuam vangpui bangah caeh o.
so when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum, looking for Jesus.
25 Nihcae mah tuipui yaeh ah Anih to hnuk o naah, nihcae mah anih khaeah, Rabbi, natuek naah haeah na phak loe? tiah dueng o.
When they found Him on another side of the sea they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”
26 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Loktang to, loktang ah, kang thuih o, dawnrai hmuennawk na hnuk o pong na ai ah, zok kamhah ah takaw na caak o pongah ni, kai nang pakrong o.
Jesus answered them and said: “Most assuredly I say to you, you are not seeking me because you saw miraculous signs, but because you ate the bread and were filled.
27 Ampa Sithaw mah Anih nuiah catui daeng boeh pongah, Kamro koi buh hak hanah toksah o hmah, Kami Capa mah nangcae han paek han ih dungzan hinghaih hnuk hanah, tok to sah oh, tiah a naa. (aiōnios g166)
Do not work for the food that wastes away but for the food that endures into life eternal, which the Son of the Man will give you; because on Him God the Father has set His seal.” (aiōnios g166)
28 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Sithaw mah koeh ih tih tok maw ka sak o han? tiah dueng o.
So they said to Him, “What should we do so that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Anih mah patoeh ih Kami tang hae Sithaw ih tok boeh ni, tiah a naa.
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe into the One whom He sent.”
30 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Ka hnuk o moe, kang tang o hanah, kawbaktih angmathaih maw nang patuek han? Tih tok maw na sak han? tiah a naa o.
So they said to Him: “Well then, what sign are you going to do so we may see and believe you? What are you going to perform?
31 Aicae ampanawk mah praezaek ah manna to caak o; nihcae mah caak o hanah, Anih mah van bang hoiah takaw to paek, tiah tarik ih oh, tiah a naa.
Our fathers ate the manna in the desert, just as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from Heaven to eat.’”
32 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Loktang to, loktang ah, kang thuih o, Mosi mah nangcae han van hoiah takaw to paek ai; Kam Pa mah ni van hoiah takaw tangtang to ang paek o.
Then Jesus said to them: “Most assuredly I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from Heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from Heaven.
33 Van hoiah angzo tathuk, long hinghaih paek Anih loe Sithaw ih takaw ah oh, tiah a naa.
For the bread of God is the One coming down out of Heaven and giving Life to the world.”
34 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Angraeng, to takaw to kaicae han na paek poe ah, tiah a naa o.
Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”
35 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kai loe hinghaih takaw ah ka oh: mi kawbaktih doeh kai khaeah angzo kami loe zok amthlam mak ai; kai tang kami loe natuek naah doeh tui anghae mak ai, tiah a naa.
So Jesus said to them: “I am the bread of the Life. Whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes into me will never thirst.
36 Toe kang thuih o baktih toengah, Kai nang hnuk o boeh, toe nang tang o ai vop.
But, as I told you, you have actually seen me, yet you do not believe.
37 Pa mah kai hanah paek ih kaminawk boih, Kai khaeah angzo o tih; kai khae angzo kami loe ka haek mak ai.
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will not throw out;
38 Ka koehhaih sak han ih na ai ah, kai patoehkung koehhaih sak han ih ni, van hoiah kang zoh tathuk.
because it is not to do my own will that I have come down out of Heaven, but the will of the One who sent me.
39 Kai hanah ang paek ih kaminawk boih mi doeh anghmaa ai ah, hnukkhuem niah pathawk let han ih tok loe, kai patoehkung Pa koehhaih ah oh.
Now this is the will of the Father who sent me, that I should lose nothing out of all that He has given me, but should raise it up at the last day.
40 Mi kawbaktih doeh Capa to hnu moe, anih tanghaih tawn kami loe dungzan hinghaih tawn tih, hae loe kai patoehkung Anih koehhaih ah oh: hnukkhuem niah anih to kang thawksak let han, tiah a naa. (aiōnios g166)
Again this is the will of Him who sent me, that everyone who ‘sees’ the Son and believes into Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (aiōnios g166)
41 Kai loe van hoiah angzo takaw ah ka oh, tiah a thuih pongah, Judah kaminawk mah anih to laisaep o thuih.
Then the Jews started complaining about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that came down out of Heaven.”
42 Nihcae mah, Hae kami loe Joseph capa, Jesu na ai maw? Anih ih amno hoi ampa doeh ka panoek o, kawbangmaw anih mah, Kai loe van hoiah ni kang zoh tathuk, tiah a thuih halat loe? tiah a thuih o.
And they were saying: “Isn't this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? So how can he say, ‘I have come down out of Heaven’?”
43 To pongah Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Laisaep o hmah.
So Jesus answered and said to them: “Stop complaining among yourselves.
44 Hnukkhuem niah anih kang thawksak let hanah, Kai patoehkung Pa mah anih to ze ai nahaeloe, mi doeh kai khaeah angzo thai mak ai.
No one is able to come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 Tahmaanawk ih Cabu thungah Sithaw mah nihcae to patuk boih tih, tiah tarik ih oh. To pongah mi kawbaktih doeh Pa ih lok to tahngai moe, anih khaeah amtuk kami loe, kai khaeah angzoh.
It is written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who listens and learns from the Father comes to me.
46 Sithaw khae hoi angzo kami ai ah loe, mi mah doeh Pa to hnu vai ai, Anih khue mah ni Pa to hnuk.
(Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God—He has seen the Father.)
47 Loktang to, loktang ah, Kang thuih o, mi kawbaktih doeh kai tang kami loe dungzan hinghaih to tawnh boeh. (aiōnios g166)
Most assuredly I say to you: the one believing into me has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Kai loe hinghaih takaw ah ka oh.
“I am the bread of the Life.
49 Nam panawk loe praezaek ah manna to caak o moe, duek o.
Your fathers ate manna in the desert, and they died.
50 Hae loe van hoiah angzo tathuk takaw ah oh, mi kawbaktih doeh to takaw caa kami loe dueh mak ai.
This is the bread that comes down out of Heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die.
51 Kai loe van hoiah angzo tathuk hinghaih takaw ah ka oh: mi kawbaktih doeh hae takaw caa kami loe, dungzan ah hing tih: long mah hinghaih tawnh hanah, ka paek han koi takaw loe ka ngan hae boeh ni, tiah a naa. (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread which came down out of Heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. Actually, the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give on behalf of the life of the world.” (aiōn g165)
52 To pongah Judahnawk angmacae salakah lok angaekhaih to oh, Kawbangmaw hae kami mah caak hanah angmah ih ngan to aicae han paek thai tih? tiah a thuih o.
At that the Jews started quarrelling among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?!”
53 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Loktang to, loktang ah, Kang thuih o, Kami capa ih ngan to caak moe, anih ih athii to nae ai ah loe, a thungah hinghaih na tawn o mak ai.
So Jesus said to them: “Most assuredly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of the Man and drink His blood, you do not have Life within yourselves.
54 Mi kawbaktih doeh ka ngan to caa moe, ka thii to nae kami loe, dungzan hinghaih to tawnh; hnukkhuem niah anih to kang thawksak let han. (aiōnios g166)
Whoever chews my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Ka ngan loe buh tangtang ah oh moe, ka thii loe naek koi hmuen tangtang ah oh.
Really, my flesh is genuine food and my blood is genuine drink.
56 Ka ngan to caa moe, ka thii to nae kami loe, anih kai thungah oh, kai doeh anih thungah oh.
Whoever chews my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him.
57 Kahing Pa mah ni Kai hae ang patoeh, Kai loe Pa rang hoiah ka hingh; to pongah kai caa kami loe kai rang hoiah hing tih.
Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
58 Hae loe van hoiah angzo tathuk takaw ah oh: nam panawk mah manna to caak o moe, duek o baktih na ai ah, hae takaw caa kami loe dungzan ah hing tih. (aiōn g165)
This is the bread that came down out of Heaven. Whoever feeds on this bread of mine will live forever (in contrast to your fathers who ate the manna and died).” (aiōn g165)
59 Hae loknawk loe Kapernuam avang ih sineko thungah patuk naah thuih.
He said these things while teaching in a synagogue in Capernaum.
60 A hnukbang paroeai kaminawk mah hae lok to thaih o naah, a thuih ih lok loe rai parai; mi mah maw panoek thai tih, tiah a thuih o.
Therefore, upon hearing this many from among His disciples said: “This word is hard! Who is able to hear it?”
61 A hnukbang kaminawk laisaep o, tiah Jesu mah panoek naah, anih mah nihcae khaeah, Hae lok pongah palung na boeng o maw?
So Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were complaining about this, said to them: “Does this offend you?
62 To tiah nahaeloe a oh tangsuekhaih ahmuen ah daw tahang Kami Capa na hnuk o naah cae loe, kawbangmaw na om o tih!
What if you should see the Son of the Man going up to where He was at first?
63 Hinghaih loe Muithla mah ni paek; taksa loe avanghaih om ai: kang thuih o ih loknawk loe Muithla ah oh pongah, hinghaih to oh.
The Spirit is the One who makes alive; the flesh does not benefit anything. The words that I speak to you are spirit, are Life.
64 Toe nangcae thung ih thoemto kaminawk mah loe tang o ai, tiah a naa. Jesu mah loe tangsuek nathuem hoiah boeh ni, nihcae loe kawbaktih kami maw, tanghaih tawn ai kami loe mi maw, mi mah maw anih to angphat taak tih, tiah panoek coek boeh.
But there are some among you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the start who they were who did not believe, and who was betraying Him.)
65 To pongah ni anih mah, Kam Pa mah anih han paek ai ah loe, mi kawbaktih doeh kai khaeah angzo thai mak ai, tiah kang thuih o, tiah a naa.
And He said, “That is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by my Father.”
66 To nathuem hoiah loe pop parai a hnukbang kaminawk mah anih to angqoi o taak boih, anih hoi nawnto caeh o ai boeh.
From that time many of His disciples turned back and stopped going around with Him.
67 Jesu mah hatlai hnettonawk khaeah, Nangcae doeh angqoi ving han na koeh o maw? tiah a naa.
So Jesus said to the twelve, “You don't want to go away too, do you?”
68 Simon Piter mah anih khaeah, Angraeng, na lok ah ni dungzan hinghaih to oh, mi khaeah maw ka caeh o han? (aiōnios g166)
So Simon Peter answered Him: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
69 Nang loe kahing Sithaw Capa, Kri ni, tiah kang panoek o moe, kang tang o boeh, tiah a naa.
Further, we have come to believe and to know that you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God!”
70 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kaimah na ai maw nangcae hatlai hnettonawk to kang qoih? Toe nangcae thung ih kami maeto loe taqawk sae ah oh ving, tiah a naa.
He said to them: “Did I myself not choose you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.”
71 Simon capa Juda Iskariot to thuih koehhaih ih ni: anih loe hatlai hnetto thungah kathum maeto ah oh, toe hnukhuem ah loe Jesu to angphat taak ving.
He was referring to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.
