1 (Jesu mah loe tuinuemhaih to paek ai, a hnukbang kaminawk mah ni paek o, ) toe Jesu loe Johan pongah hnukbang kaminawk pop kue ah tawnh, kapop kue tuinuemhaih paek ti, tiah Farasinawk mah thaih o boeh, tiah Angraeng mah panoek naah,
When therefore the Lord knew, that the Pharisees had heard—Jesus, more disciples, is making and immersing, than John, —
although indeed, Jesus himself, was not immersing, but his disciples,
3 Judea prae to tacawt taak moe, Kalili ah a caeh let.
he left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 To tiah a caeh naah Samaria prae thung hoiah caeh han angaih.
Now he must needs pass through Samaria.
5 Anih loe caeh moe, Jacob mah a capa Joseph khaeah paek ih lawk taeng ih, Samaria prae thungah kaom Sikar, tiah kawk ih avang to phak.
He cometh, therefore, unto a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground which Jacob gave unto Joseph his son.
6 To ahmuen ah loe Jacob mah takaeh ih tuikhaw to oh, Jesu loe kholong caeh angpho pongah tuikhaw nuiah anghnut: to naah atue tarukto thuemtham oh boeh.
Now Jacob’s fountain was there. Jesus, therefore, having become toil-worn with the journey, was sitting thus, upon the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.
7 Samaria nongpata maeto loe tuidok hanah angzoh: Jesu mah anih khaeah, Naek han tui na paek ah, tiah a naa.
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith unto her—Give me to drink!
8 (A hnukbang kaminawk loe buh qan hanah avang ah caeh o.)
for, his disciples, had gone away into the city, that, food, they might buy.
9 Samaria nongpata mah anih khaeah, Judah kami maeto ah na oh to mah, kawbangmaw Samaria nongpata, kai khaeah naek han tui nang hnik loe? Judahnawk loe Samari kaminawk hoi angkom o ai bae, tiah a naa.
The Samaritan woman, therefore, saith unto him—How dost, thou, being, a Jew, ask to drink, of me, who am, a Samaritan woman? [for, Jews, have no dealings with Samaritans.]
10 Jesu mah nongpata khaeah, Tui naek han na paek ah, tiah nang khaeah lokthui kami, Sithaw ih tangqum to na panoek soe nahaeloe, nang mah ni anih khaeah na hni ueloe, anih mah hinghaih tui to na paek tih, tiah a naa.
Jesus answered, and said unto her—If thou hadst known the free gift of God, and who it is that is saying unto thee, Give me to drink, thou, wouldst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 Nongpata mah anih khaeah, Patukkung, nang loe tui sohhaih tidoeh na tawn ai, tuikhaw loe thuk parai bae: to hinghaih tui loe naa hoiah maw na hnu tih?
She saith unto him—Sir! not even a bucket, hast thou, —and, the well, is, deep: —Whence, then, hast thou the living water?
12 Nang loe kaicae ampa Jakob pongah na len kue maw? Anih loe angmah doeh, a caanawk hoi a pacah ih moinawk mah doeh naek o ih, tuikhaw to kaicae hanah ang paek, tiah a naa.
Art, thou, greater than, our father Jacob, who gave us the well, —and, himself, out of it drank, and his sons, and his flocks?
13 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Mi kawbaktih doeh hae tui nae kami loe tui anghae let tih:
Jesus answered, and said unto her—Whosoever drinketh of this water, will thirst, again;
15 Nongpata mah anih khaeah, Patukkung, tui kang haeh han ai, haeah tuidok han ai ah, to tui to na paek khae, tiah a naa.
The woman saith unto him—Sir! give me this water, that I thirst not, neither be coming hither to draw.
16 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Caeh ah loe, na sava to kawk pacoengah, haeah angzo ah, tiah a naa.
He saith unto her—Go, call thy husband, and come hither!
17 To naah nongpata mah, Sava ka tawn ai, tiah a naa. Jesu mah nongpata khaeah, Sava ka tawn ai, tiah na thuih ih lok loe amsoem:
The woman answered, and said [unto him]—I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her—Well, saidst thou, A husband, I have not;
18 sava pangato na tawnh boeh; vaihi na tawnh ih nongpa doeh na sava na ai ni: na thuih ih lok loe amsoem, tiah a naa.
for, five husbands, thou hast had, —and, now, he whom thou hast, is not thy, husband: This true thing, hast thou spoken.
19 Nongpata mah anih khaeah, Patukkung, nang loe tahmaa maeto ah na oh, tito kang panoek.
The woman saith unto him—Sir! I perceive that, a prophet, art, thou: —
20 Kaicae ampanawk loe hae mae ah sithaw bok o; nangcae mah loe Jerusalem ah ni kaminawk mah Sithaw bok han oh, tiah na thuih o, tiah a naa.
Our fathers, in this mountain, worshipped; and, ye, say, that, in Jerusalem, is the place, where, to worship, it behoveth.
21 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Nongpata, Kai hae na tang ah, hae mae ah na ai, Jerusalem ah doeh na ai ah, Pa na bok o haih atue to phak tom boeh.
Jesus saith unto her—Believe me, woman! There cometh an hour, when, neither in this mountain, nor yet in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.
22 Nangcae loe na panoek o ai ih hmuen to na bok o: kaicae loe panoek ih hmuen to ni ka bok o: pahlonghaih loe Judahnawk ih ni.
Ye, worship, that which ye know not; We, worship, that which we know; because, salvation, is, of the Jews.
23 Toe Sithaw bok kaminawk mah Pa to Muithla hoi loktang ah bokhaih atue to pha tih, vaihi doeh phak boeh: Ampa loe to tiah Anih bok kaminawk to ni pakrong.
But there cometh an hour, and, now, is, —when, the real worshippers, shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for, even the Father, is seeking, such as these, as his worshippers.
24 Sithaw loe Muithla ah oh: Anih bok kaminawk loe Muithla hoi loktang ah bok o han oh, tiah a naa.
God is, spirit; and, they that worship him, in spirit and truth, must needs worship.
25 Nongpata mah anih khaeah, Kri, tiah kawk ih Messiah angzo tih, tito ka panoek: anih angzoh naah loe kaicae hanah hmuennawk to thui boih tih, tiah a naa.
The woman saith unto him—I know that, Messiah, cometh, who is called Christ, —Whensoever, he, shall come, he will tell us, everything.
26 To naah Jesu mah anih khaeah, Nang khaeah lokthui Kai loe Anih to boeh ni, tiah a naa.
Jesus saith unto her—I, that speak unto thee, am he.
27 To nathuem ah a hnukbang kaminawk to phak o, nongpata hoi lok kapae Anih to hnuk o naah dawnrai o: toe mi mah doeh timaw na koeh? To tih ai boeh loe tikhoe nongpata hoiah lok na paeh loe? tiah dueng o ai.
And, hereupon, came his disciples, and they began to marvel, that, with a woman, he was talking. No one, however, said—What seekest thou? or—Why talkest thou with her?
28 To nongpata loe tui laom to caehtaak moe, avang thungah caeh pacoengah, kaminawk khaeah,
The woman, therefore, left her water-vessel, and went away into the city, and saith unto the men—
29 angzo oh loe, ka sak ih hmuennawk boih thui kami to khen oh: hae kami loe Kri na ai maw? tiah a naa.
Come! see a man, that told me all things that ever I did: Can, this, be, the Christ?
30 Kaminawk loe avang thung hoiah tacawt o moe, anih khet hanah caeh o.
They came forth out of the city, and were coming unto him.
31 To naah a hnukbang kaminawk mah, Patukkung, buhcaa raeh, tiah a naa o.
In the meantime, the disciples were requesting him, saying—Rabbi! eat.
32 Toe anih mah nihcae khaeah, Na panoek o ai ih buhcaak han ka tawnh, tiah a naa.
But, he, said unto them—I, have, food, to eat, of which, ye, know not.
33 To pongah a hnukbang kaminawk mah, Kami maeto mah caak han buh sinh pae mue, tiah maeto hoi maeto thuih o.
The disciples, therefore, began to say, one to another—Hath anyone brought him, to eat?
34 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kai patoehkung koehhaih to sak moe, anih ih tok sak pacoeng pae haih loe, Kai ih buh ah oh.
Jesus saith unto them—My food, is, that I should do the will of him that sent me, and complete, his work.
35 Khrah palito pacoengah loe cang aah han khawt boeh, tiah na thuih o na ai maw? Khenah, kang thuih o, Mikpadai oh loe, lawknawk ho khen o noek ah; caang aah han hmin boeh.
Are, ye, not saying—Yet, a fourmonth, it is, and, the harvest, cometh? Lo! I say unto you—Lift up your eyes, and gaze at the fields, —that, white, are they unto, harvest. Already,
36 Cang aat kami loe atho to hnuk moe, dungzan hing hanah athaih to pakhrik: to naah ni caang tuh kami hoi aat kami to anghoe hoi hmaek tih. (aiōnios g166)
he that reapeth, receiveth, a reward, and gathereth fruit unto life age-abiding; that, he that soweth, together may rejoice, with him that reapeth. (aiōnios g166)
37 Kami maeto mah patit moe, maeto mah aah, tiah thuih ih lok loe amsoem.
For, herein, doth the saying, hold good, —One, is the sower, and, another, is the reaper.
38 Tok na sah o ai ih lawk ah cang aah hanah kang patoeh o: kalah kaminawk mah toksak o, nangcae loe nihcae toksakhaih thungah na kun o, tiah a naa.
I, sent you forth, to be reaping that whereon, ye, have not toiled: Others, have toiled, and, ye, into their toil, have entered.
39 Nongpata mah, Ka sak ih hmuennawk ang thuih boih, tiah thuih pongah to avang thung ih paroeai Samaritan kaminawk mah Anih to tang o.
And, out of that city, many, believed on him—of the Samaritans, —by reason of the word of the woman in bearing witness—He told me all things that ever I did.
40 Samaritan kaminawk anih khaeah caeh o naah, nihcae khaeah cam pae hanah Anih to tahmenhaih hnik o, to pongah nihcae khaeah ni hnetto a cam pae.
When, therefore, the Samaritans came unto him, they went on to request him to abide with them; and he abode there two days.
41 Anih mah thuih ih lok pongah paroeai kaminawk mah tanghaih to tawnh o;
And, many more, believed by reason of his discourse;
42 nihcae mah to nongpata khaeah, Nang mah thuih ih lok pongah na ai ni, kaimacae khaeh mah anih ih lok to ka thaih o moe, hae kami loe long pahlongkung, Kri ni, tiah ka panoek o pongah ni, vaihi ka tang o, tiah a naa o.
and, unto the woman, began to say—No longer, by reason of thy talk, do we believe; for, we ourselves, have heard, and know that, This One, is, in truth, the Saviour of the world.
43 Toah ni hnetto cam pacoengah, Kalili bangah a caeh.
But, after the two days, he went forth from thence, into Galilee.
44 Tahmaa loe angmah prae ah pakoeh ah om vai ai, tiah Jesu angmah khaeh mah thuih.
For, Jesus himself, bare witness, that, a prophet, in his own fatherland, hath not, honour.
45 Anih Kalili ah phak naah, Kalili kaminawk mah anih to dawt o, nihcae doeh poihkung ah caeh o toeng, Jerusalem poihkung ah Anih mah sak ih hmuennawk to nihcae mah hnuk o boih.
So, when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans welcomed him, having seen, all things, whatsoever he had done in Jerusalem during the feast; for, they also, went unto the feast.
46 Jesu loe tui misurtui ah angcoengsakhaih, Kalili prae thung ih Kana avang ah caeh let. Kapernuam avang ah a capa nganna angraeng maeto oh.
So he came again into Cana of Galilee, where he had made the water, wine. And there was a certain courtier, whose son was sick, in Capernaum.
47 Anih mah Jesu Judea prae hoi Kalili prae ah angzoh ti, tiah thaih naah, anih khaeah caeh moe, kadueh duih a capa to ngantuisak hanah tahmenhaih hnik.
The same, hearing that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, came away unto him, and began requesting him, that he would come down and heal his son; for he was on the point of dying.
48 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Dawnrai hmuen hoi angmathaihnawk na hnu o ai ah loe, na tang o mak ai, tiah a naa.
Jesus therefore said unto him—Except, signs and wonders, ye see, in nowise will ye believe.
49 To naah angraeng mah anih khaeah, Angraeng, ka capa dueh ai naah angzo tathuk raeh, tiah a naa.
The courtier saith unto him—Sir! come down, ere my child die!
50 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Caeh lai ah, na capa loe ngantui boeh, tiah a naa. Jesu mah thuih ih lok to a tang pongah, anih loe angmah im ah amlaem.
Jesus saith unto him—Be going thy way: thy son, liveth! And the man believed in the word which Jesus spake to him, and at once went his way.
51 Loklam ah a caeh li naah, a tamnanawk angzoh o moe, anih khaeah, Na capa loe ngantui boeh, tiah thuih pae o.
And, when he was even now going down, his servants, met him, saying, that, his boy, was living.
52 Natuek naah maw a capa ngantui let, tiah a dueng naah, Cangduem atue sarihto naah ngantui let, tiah a thuih pae o.
So he enquired the hour, from them, when he began, to amend. They said, therefore, unto him—Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him.
53 To atue nathuem ah ni, Jesu mah anih khaeah, Na capa loe ngantui boeh, tiah a thuih pae, tito ampa mah panoek; to pongah angmah hoi a imthung takoh kaminawk boih mah tang o.
So the father took note that it was, in that hour, wherein Jesus said unto him—Thy son, liveth! and he believed, he, and all his house.
54 Hae loe Jesu mah Judea prae hoi Kalili prae ah caeh naah, sak ih dawnrai hmuen vai hnetto haih ah oh.
Now, this again, as, a second sign, Jesus did, after coming out of Judaea into Galilee.
