< Johan 3 >

1 Judah uk kaminawk thungah, Nicodemu, tiah ahmin kaom Farasi kami maeto oh:
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Judeans.
2 anih loe qum ah Jesu khaeah caeh moe, anih khaeah, Rabbi, nang loe Sithaw khae hoi angzo patukkung ah na oh, tiah kang panoek o: Sithaw mah anih to om thuih ai nahaeloe, na sak ih dawnrai hmuennawk hae mi mah doeh sah thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
He came to Yeshua by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.”
3 Jesu mah anih ih lok to pathim pae, anih khaeah, Loktang to, loktang ah kang thuih, Mi kawbaktih doeh tapen let ai kami loe, Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah uk ih prae to hnu thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
Yeshua answered him, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”
4 Nikodemu mah anih khaeah, Kami loe mitong pacoengah kawbangmaw tapen let thai tih, anih loe amno zokthung ah vai hnetto akun ueloe, tapen let thai tih maw? tiah a naa.
Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesu mah, Loktang to, loktang ah kang thuih, Tui hoi Muithla hoiah tapen ai kami loe, Sithaw prae thungah akun thai mak ai.
Yeshua answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom.
6 Taksa ah tapen kami loe taksa ah oh; Muithla ah tapen kami loe muithla ah oh.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Na tapen let han oh, tiah kang thuih pongah dawnrai hmah.
Don’t marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born anew.’
8 Takhi loe a koeh baktiah song, takhi tuen to na thaih, toe naa bang hoiah maw angzoh moe, naa bangah maw caeh, tiah na thui thai ai: Muithla ah tapen kami loe to tiah oh, tiah a naa.
The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don’t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nikodemu mah anih khaeah, Hae hmuenawk loe kawbangmaw om thai tih? tiah pathim.
Nicodemus answered him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Israel kaminawk patukkung ah na oh to mah, hae hmuennawk hae na panoek ai maw? tiah a naa.
Yeshua answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and don’t understand these things?
11 Loktang to, loktang ah kang thuih, Kaicae loe panoek ih hmuen to ka thuih o moe, ka hnuk o ih hmuen to ni ka taphong o; ka taphong o ih hmuen to na talawk o ai.
Most certainly I tell you, we speak that which we know and testify of that which we have seen, and you don’t receive our witness.
12 Long hmuen kawngnawk ka thuih naah mataeng doeh, na tang o ai nahaeloe, van hmuen kawngnawk ka thuih nahaeloe, kawbangmaw na tang o thai tih?
If I told you earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13 Van hoi angzo tathuk, van ah kaom kami Capa ai ah loe, mi doeh van ah daw vai ai.
No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven.
14 Mosi mah praezaek ah takhing ih pahui baktih toengah, kami Capa to takhing o tih.
As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15 Mi kawbaktith doeh Anih tang kami loe anghmaa mak ai, dungzan hinghaih to hnu tih. (aiōnios g166)
that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
16 Sithaw mah long palung phi pongah, maeto khue tawnh ih a Capa to a paek, mi kawbaktih doeh Anih tang kami loe anghmaa mak ai, dungzan hinghaih to hnu tih. (aiōnios g166)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only born Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Long lokcaek hanah Sithaw mah a Capa to long ah patoeh ai; Anih rang hoiah long pahlong han ih ni patoeh.
For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
18 Anih tang kami loe lokcaek mak ai, toe tang ai kami loe maeto khue tawnh ih Sithaw Capa ahmin to tang ai pongah, lokcaek ah oh boeh.
He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only born Son of God.
19 Hae loe lokcaekhaih ah oh, aanghaih loe long ah angzoh, toe a sak o ih hmuennawk to hoih ai pongah, kaminawk mah aanghaih pongah vinghaih to koeh o kue.
This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil.
20 Kahoih ai hmuen sah kami loe aanghaih to hnukma, a toksakhaih amtueng moeng tih, tiah a poek pongah, aanghaih thungah angzoh han koeh ai.
For everyone who does evil hates the light and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.
21 Toe loktang hoi kahing kami loe, Sithaw rang hoiah a sak o ih hmuennawk to amtueng thai hanah, aanghaih thungah angzoh, tiah a naa.
But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.”
22 To pacoengah Jesu hoi a hnukbang kaminawk loe Judea prae ah caeh o; anih loe nihcae hoi nawnto to ahmuen ah oh moe, tuinuemhaih to paek.
After these things, Yeshua came with his disciples into the land of Judea. He stayed there with them and immersed.
23 Johan mah doeh Salim taengah kaom Aenon avang ah tuinuemhaih to paek: to ahmuen ah loe tui pop pongah, kaminawk angzoh o moe, tuinuemhaih to sak o.
Yochanan also was immersing in Enon near Salim, because there was much water there. They came and were immersed;
24 To nathuem ah Johan loe thongim krah ai vop.
for Yochanan was not yet thrown into prison.
25 Ciimcaihaih kawng pongah Judahnawk hoi Johan hnukbang kaminawk lok angaek o.
Therefore a dispute arose on the part of Yochanan’s disciples with some Judeans about purification.
26 Nihcae loe Johan khaeah caeh o moe, anih khaeah, Rabbi, khenah, Jordan vapui yaeh ah nang hoi nawnto kaom kami, na taphong ih kami mah tuinuemhaih to paek, kaminawk loe anih khaeah caeh o boih boeh, tiah a naa o.
They came to Yochanan and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, he immerses, and everyone is coming to him.”
27 Johan mah, Van hoiah anih han paek ai ah loe, kami mah tidoeh hnu thai mak ai.
Yochanan answered, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven.
28 Kai loe Kri na ai ni, toe kai loe Anih hmaa ah patoeh ih kami ni, tiah hnukung ah nangcae na oh o.
You yourselves testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah,’ but, ‘I have been sent before him.’
29 Zu lak naah nongpa mah ni nongpata to lak: toe zu kala thendoeng ih ampui loe anih taengah angdoet moe, anih ih lok to thaih, zu lakung ih lok to thaih pongah, paroeai anghoe: to pongah kang hoehaih loe hae tiah akoep boeh.
He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore my joy is made full.
30 Anih loe pung tahang aep tih, toe kai loe amsah tathuk tih.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 Van hoiah angzo kami loe hmuen boih ranui ah oh: long hoiah angcoeng kami loe long hmuen ah oh moe, long hmuen kawng to a thuih: van hoiah angzo kami loe hmuen boih ranui ah oh.
“He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.
32 Anih mah loe hnuk moe, thaih ih hmuen to ni a thuih; mi mah doeh a thuih ih lok to talawk pae o ai.
What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness.
33 A thuih ih lok talawk kami mah loe, Sithaw loe loktang ni, tiah catui to a daengh.
He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true.
34 Sithaw mah patoeh ih kami loe Sithaw lok to thuih: Sithaw mah anih khaeah tahhaih om ai ah Muithla to paek.
For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.
35 Ampa mah Capa to palung pongah hmuennawk anih ban ah paek boih.
The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
36 Capa tang kami loe dungzan hinghaih to tawnh: Capa tang ai kami loe hinghaih hnu mak ai; Sithaw palungphuihaih a nuiah om tih, tiah a naa. (aiōnios g166)
One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (aiōnios g166)
