< Job 8 >

1 To naah Shuh acaeng Bildah mah,
Then responded Bildad the Shuhite, and said: —
2 hae baktih hmuen kawngnawk hae vai nazetto maw na thuih han vop? Na pakha hoi tacawt loknawk loe nasetto maw takhi baktiah thacak vop tih?
How long wilt thou speak these things? Or, as a mighty wind, shall be the sayings of thy mouth?
3 Sithaw loe katoeng ai ah lokcaek maw? Katoeng ah lokcaekhaih to Thacak Sithaw mah phrae ving tih maw?
Should, GOD, pervert justice? Or, the Almighty, pervert righteousness?
4 Na caanawk mah a nuiah hmuen sakpazae o pongah, a sakpazae o haih baktih toengah, anih mah nihcae to thuitaek;
Though, thy children, sinned against him, and he delivered them into the hand of their transgression,
5 toe Sithaw khaeah nang qoi moe, Thacak Sithaw khaeah tahmenhaih na hnik nahaeloe,
Yet, if, thou thyself, wilt diligently seek unto GOD, —and, unto the Almighty, wilt make supplication;
6 na ciim moe, na toeng nahaeloe, vaihi nang hanah angthawk ueloe, katoengah kho na sakhaih ahmuen to qoengsak tih.
If, pure and upright, thou thyself, art, surely, now, will he answer thy prayer, and will prosper thy righteous habitation:
7 Nam tong tangsuek naah thoengkae cadoeh, hnukkhuem ah loe lensawkhaih hoiah na qoeng tahang tih.
So shall thy beginning appear small, —when, thy latter end, he shall greatly increase!
8 Kalaem tangcae atue to dueng ah, nam panawk mah tongh o ih hmuennawk to dueng ah loe poek ah;
For inquire, I pray thee, of a former generation, and prepare thyself for the research of their fathers; —
9 (aicae loe zangduem ah ni tapen o vop, to pongah tidoeh a panoek o ai, long nuiah aicae khosakhaih aninawk loe tahlip ah ni oh.)
For, of yesterday, are, we, and cannot know, for, a shadow, are our days upon earth:
10 Nihcae mah loe palung tang hoi patuk ueloe, na thuitaek o mak ai maw?
Shall, they, not teach thee—tell thee, and, out of their memory, bring forth words?
11 Cakrungkung baktih akung loe tangnong om ai ahmuen ah amprawk thai maw? Tui taeng ih phroh loe tui om ai ah ampraek thai maw?
Can the paper-reed grow up, without a marsh? Or the rush grow up, without water?
12 To akung loe amprawk tahang naah, aqam hing suep pongah mi mah doeh aat ai; toe kalah qam pongah azaem zoi kue.
Though while still, in its freshness, it be not plucked off, yet, before any kind of grass, it doth wither:
13 Sithaw pahnet kaminawk caehhaih loklam doeh to tiah oh; Sithaw tidoeh sah ai kami oephaih loe amro tih.
So, shall be the latter end of all who forget GOD, and, the hope of the impious, shall perish:
14 Nihcae oephaih loklam loe amro tih, nihcae amhahaih loe bongpaha tazae baktiah ni om tih.
Whose trust shall be contemptible, —and, a spider’s web, his confidence:
15 Anih loe angmah im ah amha, toe angdoe thai ai; a ban hoi patawnh, toe cak ai.
He leaneth upon his house, and it will not stand, he holdeth it fast, and it will not remain erect.
16 To baktih kami loe ni bet naah hing suep moe, tanghang mah takha to khuk boih.
Full of moisture he is, before the sun, and, over his garden, his shoot goeth forth:
17 A tangzun mah thlung to zaeng boih moe, thlung salakah tangzun sakhaih ahmuen to pakrong.
Over a heap, his roots are entwined, a place of stones, he descrieth;
18 Toe kami mah a ohhaih ahmuen hoiah aphongh ving naah loe, a ohhaih ahmuen mah anih khaeah, Nang hae kang hnuh vai ai, tiah naa ueloe, angphat taak tih.
If one destroy him out of his place, then will it disown him [saying] —I have not seen thee.
19 Khenah, anih anghoehaih loklam loe to tiah oh; anih amprawkhaih ahmuen ah, kalah thingnawk to amprawk o lat tih.
Lo! that, is the joy of his way, —and, out of the dust, shall others spring up.
20 Khenah, coek koi om ai kami to Sithaw mah haek ai; kasae hmuen sah kami doeh abomh ai:
Lo! GOD, will not reject a blameless man, neither will he grasp the hand of evil-doers:
21 anih mah na pakha to pahnuisak ueloe, na pahni to anghoehaih hoiah koisak tih.
At length he shall fill with laughter thy mouth, and thy lips, with a shout of triumph:
22 Nang hnuma kaminawk to azatsak tih, kasae kami ohhaih im to anghma tih boeh, tiah a naa.
They who hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, but, the tent of the lawless, shall not be!
