< Job 6 >

1 To naah Job mah,
But Job answered and said,
2 Palung ka sethaih hoi raihaih loe tah thai mak ai,
Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
3 tuipui ih savuet pongah doeh azit kue, to pongah ni kamthlai hmoek ah lok ka paeh moeng.
For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
4 Thacak Sithaw ih palaanawk mah kai to cop moe, ka pakhra mah kasoe tui to naek; zitthok Sithaw thacakhaih loe ka hmaa ah oh.
For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinks up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
5 Qam caak naah taw ih laa hrang hang maw? Caak han phroh oh naah maitawtae ambuu maw?
Does the wild ass bray when he has grass? or lows the ox over his fodder?
6 Kakhraem ai caaknaek paloi ai ah caak thai maw? To tih ai boeh loe aadui tui kanglung pongah khraemhaih oh maw?
Can that which is unpleasing be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
7 Ka pakhra mah to baktih caaknaek sui hanah koeh ai; to baktih caaknaek loe palungsethaih caaknaek ah oh.
The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful food.
8 Aw ka hnik ih hmuen to hak nasoe, ka koeh ih hmuen to Sithaw mah na paek nasoe!
Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
9 Sithaw mah kai hae paro nasoe, tiah koehhaih ka tawnh; a ban phok nasoe loe, na takroek pat halat nasoe!
Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
10 To tiah ni monghaih ka tawn tih, ue, palungsethaih ka pauep han, kai hae na tahmen hmah nasoe; Ciimcai Sithaw ih loknawk to ka aek ai.
Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
11 Thacakhaih ka tawn ai boeh, timaw ka oep khing han vop? Saning kasawk ah ka hing cadoeh tih oephaih maw oh vop?
What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
12 Ka thacakhaih loe thlung thacakhaih ah maw oh? To tih ai boeh loe kai ih angan loe sumkamling ngan maw?
Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
13 Kai loe kaimah hoi kaimah kang bomh thai ai, ka palunghahaih doeh boeng boeh.
Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
14 Patangkhang kami loe angmah ih ampui mah tahmenhaih amtuengsak han oh; toe anih mah tahmen ai nahaeloe, anih loe Lensawk Sithaw zithaih tawn ai kami ah ni oh.
To him that is afflicted pity should be showed from his friend; but he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.
15 Kam nawkamyanawk loe kalen moe, kakang let vacong tui baktiah aling thaih kami ah oh o;
My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
16 to tui loe kamkhawk tui, amtueng ai ah kamzawt dantui mah lensak:
Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
17 toe to tui loe nipui tue ah kang moe, ni kabae mah amzawtsak boih.
What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
18 To vacongnawk loe angmacae longhaih loklam to anghmang o, loklam ai ah a long o moe, anghmat angtaa o.
The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
19 Tema ih kaminawk mah tui to pakrong o, Sheba prae hoi kholong caeh kaminawk mah tui to oephaih hoiah zing o.
The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
20 Nihcae oephaih tawnh o, toe palungboeng o ving; to ah phak o naah, palungboeng o.
They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
21 To baktih toengah nangcae doeh azom pui ni, tiah amtueng boeh; ka tongh ih raihaih na hnuk o naah, na zit o boeh.
For now all of you are nothing; all of you see my casting down, and are afraid.
22 Kai khaeah bokhaih tangqum to sin oh, to tih ai boeh loe na tawnh o ih hmuenmae thung hoiah tangqum na paek oh,
Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
23 misa ban thung hoiah na pahlong oh loe, thacak kami ban thung hoiah na krang oh, tiah ka thuih vai maw?
Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
24 Ka sak pazaehaih na patuek oh, kang hngaiduem han.
Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
25 Toenghaih lok loe thacak! Toe kasae nang aek o ih lok mah timaw angcoengsak?
How forcible are right words! but what does your arguing reprove?
26 Ka thuih ih loknawk kasaethuih hanah na poek o maw, oephaih tawn ai kami mah thuih ih lok loe takhi baktih maw na poek o?
Do all of you imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
27 Ue, ampa tawn ai kaminawk to na pacaekthlaek o moe, nam puinawk hanah quum na qaih pae o.
Yea, all of you overwhelm the fatherless, and all of you dig a pit for your friend.
28 To pongah na khen oh; nangcae hmaa ah lok kam lai mak ai.
Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
29 Khopoek o let rae ah, zaehaih net o hmah; ue, khopoek o let raeh; kai loe toenghaih hoiah ni tok ka sak.
Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
30 Ka palai ah sethaih akap maw? Kai loe kasae kahoih pathlaeng thai ai kami ah maw ka oh?
Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
