< Job 2 >

1 Ni kalah nito naah, Angraeng hmaa ah amtueng hanah Sithaw ih caanawk to angzoh o, Setan doeh Angraeng hmaa ah amtueng hanah nihcae hoi nawnto angzoh toeng.
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
2 Angraeng mah Setan khaeah, naa hoiah maw nang zoh? tiah a naa. Setan mah Angraeng khaeah, Long pum ahnuk ahmaa kam het nakung hoiah kang zoh, tiah a naa.
And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence come you? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
3 To pacoengah Angraeng mah Setan khaeah, Ka tamna Job ho na poek vai maw? Anih baktih kami long nuiah mi doeh om ai; anih loe coek koi om ai, katoeng kami ah oh, Sithaw to zit moe, kasae hmuen sak koeh ai kami ah oh; tidoeh na ai ah anih amrosak hanah kai nang zoek cadoeh, anih loe oepthok kami ah ni oh poe, tiah a naa.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and turns away from evil? and still he holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause.
4 Setan mah Angraeng khaeah, Ahin hanah ahin, tiah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, kami maeto mah a tawnh ih hmuen to a hinghaih hanah paek boih tih.
And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man has will he give for his life.
5 Toe vaihi na ban to phok ah loe, anih ih ngan hoi ahuh to sui ah, na hmaa roe ah nang hae kasae thui tih, tiah a naa.
But put forth your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.
6 Angraeng mah Setan khaeah, Khenah, anih loe na ban ah oh, toe a hinghaih to pathlung ah, tiah a naa.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in your hand; but save his life.
7 To pongah Setan loe Angraeng hmaa hoi tacawt moe, Job to khokpadae hoi lu khoek to ahlut mansak.
So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and stroke Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
8 Job loe tak tahawh haih hanah kakoi long laom to lak moe, maiphu thungah anghnut.
And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself likewise; and he sat down among the ashes.
9 A zu mah anih khaeah, Katoeng kami ah maw na oh poe han vop? Sithaw to pasoih ah loe dueh khae, tiah a naa.
Then said his wife unto him, Do you still retain your integrity? curse God, and die.
10 Toe anih mah a zu khaeah, Kamthu koek nongpata baktiah lok na paeh; Sithaw khae hoi kahoih hmuen a hak o baktih toengah, kasae hmuen doeh a hak o mak ai maw? tiah a naa. Hae hmuennawk boih a tongh, toe Job loe pahni hoiah mataeng doeh zaehaih sah ai.
But he said unto her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
11 Job nuiah kaom kasae hmuennawk kawng to ampui thumtonawk mah thaih o; Teman acaeng Eliphaz, Shuh acaeng Bildad hoi Naamath acaeng Zophar cae loe angmacae im hoiah angzoh o; anih to palungset o haih moe, pathloep hanah ani to khaeh o.
Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12 Nihcae mah kangthla hoiah khet o naah, Job to maat o ai boeh; nihcae loe tha hoiah qah o; angmacae ih kahni to asih o moe, angmacae lu nuiah krak hanah maiphu to van ah a haeh o.
And when they lifted up their eyes far off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13 To tiah nihcae mah Job to long ah ni sarihto hoi qum sarihto thung anghnut o haih, anih patangkhanghaih loe nat pae hmoek pongah, mi mah doeh anih to lok tapring o ai.
So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spoke a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.
