< Efisa 4 >

1 Kawk ih kami ah na oh o baktih toengah, kawk ih kami hoi kamcuk ah kho na sak o hanah, Angraeng pongah thongkrah kami, Kai mah kang pacae o,
So then, as the prisoner in the Lord I urge you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,
2 hmuen boih ah, minawk tlim ah khosakhaih, poeknaemhaih hoi palungsawkhaih to tawn oh loe, maeto hoi maeto amlunghaih hoiah khosah oh;
with all humility and courtesy, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
3 Muithla ah poekhaih maeto amhong thai hanah tha pathok oh.
taking pains to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of the peace.
4 Oephaih maeto tawnh hanah nangcae to kawk baktih toengah, takpum maeto hoi Muithla maeto ni oh;
There is one body and one Spirit (just as you also were called in one hope of your calling),
5 Angraeng maeto, tanghaih maeto, tuinuemhaih maeto,
one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 kaminawk boih ih Ampa, Sithaw maeto khue ni oh, anih loe aicae boih ranui ah oh, kami boih khaeah oh moe, nangcae boih thungah oh.
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in us all.
7 Toe Kri ih tangqum paekhaih baktih toengah, tahmenhaih loe aicae boih khaeah paek boeh.
Now to each one of us the grace according to the measure of Christ's gift was given.
8 To pongah ni Anih ranui bangah caeh tahang naah, misong ah kaom kaminawk to a zaeh moe, kaminawk khaeah tangqumnawk to paek, tiah a thuih.
That is why He says, “When He ascended into the heights He captured the concentration camp, and distributed gifts to men.”
9 (Anih caeh tahang, tiah thuih naah, anih loe long thung ih kahnaem koek ahmuen ah anghum tathuk hmaloe, tiah doeh thuih koehhaih ih na ai maw?
(What does ‘He ascended’ imply if not that He also first descended into the interior regions of the earth?
10 Anghum tathuk kami loe, hmuen boih koepsak hanah, van boih ranui koekah daw tahang kami to thuih koehhaih ih ni.)
He who descended is the very one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
11 Anih mah thoemto kaminawk to patoeh ih kami, thoemto kaminawk to tahmaa, thoemto kaminawk to tamthanglok taphong kami, thoemto kaminawk to kricaa zaehoikung hoi patukkung ah paek:
Yes, He Himself gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
12 kaciim kaminawk toksak akoep moe, Kri takpum a qoeng o sak thai hanah,
for the equipping of the saints into the work of the ministry, so as to build up the body of Christ,
13 aicae boih tanghaih hoi Sithaw Capa panoekhaih bangah maeto ah amhong moe, Kri akoephaih tawn kami maeto ah a pha o ai karoek to om tih;
until we all attain into the unity of the faith and of the real knowledge of the Son of God, into a complete man, into the resulting full stature of Christ;
14 aicae loe aling thaih kaminawk mah, aling thai hanah patuk ih loknawk pongah, takhi mah hmuh naah ahnuk ahmaa kangthui nawktanawk baktiah a oh o han om ai,
so that we no longer be ‘infants’, tossed about as by waves and carried off by every doctrinal fad, through the underhanded dealings of the people who collect the fee for the error;
15 toe tih boih ah lu ah kaom, Kri hoi kangvan ah a qoeng o thai hanah, amlunghaih hoiah loktang lok thui kami ah a oh o han oh boeh:
rather, speaking the truth in love, let us in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, the Christ;
16 Anih khae hoiah ni takpum boih nawnto amcong moe, kamtomh ahuhnawk boih doeh thacaksak, takpum ah kaom tanghangnawk boih mah angmacae ih tok a sak o boih baktih toengah, takpum to amlunghaih bangah a qoeng o sak tahang.
from whom the whole body, being fitted and knit together by what every joint supplies, as each individual part does its work, promotes its own growth, its own edification, in love.
17 To pongah Angraeng rang hoiah hae tiah lok ka thuih, vaihi hoi kamtong tiah doeh angcoeng ai, Gentelnawk caehhaih baktiah caeh o hma lai ah,
So then, I affirm and insist on this in the Lord: you must no longer carry on as the rest of the Gentiles do, in the futility of their mind,
18 nihcae panoekhaih loe khoving baktiah tahmuep moe, panoekhaih tawn o ai, palung mik a maeng o pongah, Sithaw hinghaih hoiah amkhraeng o ving boeh:
having been darkened in their understanding, being alienated [as a continuing condition] from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts,
19 nihcae loe azathaih tawn o ai, taksa koehhaih bangah thacak o parai moe, long taksa koeh hmoekhaih palung tawnh o pongah, kaciim ai hmuennawk boih to a sak o.
who, having become dead to hope, have abandoned themselves to depravity, greedily indulging in every kind of vileness.
20 To baktih hmuen to Kri khae hoiah nam tuk o ai;
Now that is not how you ‘learned Christ’—
21 Anih kawng to na thaih o boeh, loktang loe Jesu ah ni oh, tiah anih mah ang patuk o boeh:
if indeed you have heard Him and been taught by Him (as the truth is in Jesus):
22 canghnii ih aling koehhaih palungthin hoiah kamro kangquem hinghaih to angkhring oh loe,
that you put away, concerning your former way of life, the old man (that keeps on being corrupted by the deceitful desires),
23 Muithla ah poekhaih palungthin to angtha o sak ah;
and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 toenghaih hoi loktang ciimcaihaih bangah, Sithaw ah sak ih kami kangtha to angkhuk oh.
and put on the new man, created in the likeness of God, in true righteousness and holiness.
25 To pongah lok amlaihaih to takhoe oh, aicae loe takpum maeto hoi kaom tanghang ah a oh o pongah, kami boih mah a imtaeng kami khaeah loktang lok to thuih han oh.
Therefore, having put away falsehood, ‘Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,’ for we are members of one another.
26 Palung na phui o, toe zaehaih sah o hmah: palung na phuihaih loe niduem hmah nasoe.
‘Be angry but do not sin’; do not let the sun set on your angry mood,
27 Setan hanah ahmuen pahoe pae o hmah.
nor give an opportunity to the devil.
28 Paqu kami loe paqu hma lai nasoe: toksah nasoe loe, amtang kaminawk abom hanah, kahoih hmuen to a ban hoiah sah nasoe.
The one who steals must steal no longer, but rather let him work, doing something good with his hands, that he may have something to share with someone in need.
29 Na pakha thung hoiah loksae tacawt hmah nasoe, tahngai kaminawk atho oh thai hanah, atho kaom lok to patoh oh.
Let no evil word proceed from your mouth, but only what is good for edification, as needed, that it may impart grace to those who hear.
30 Sithaw ih Kacai Muithla to palungsae o sak hmah, Anih hoiah ni akranghaih ni karoek to hanah catui ang daeng o.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Hnukmahaih, poek amthuenghaih, palungphuihaih, hraw-anghaih, loksethaih hoi uthaihnawk boih to nangmacae khae hoiah takhoe o ving ah:
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and slander be removed from you, with all malice.
32 maeto hoi maeto nuiah tahmenhaih hoi amlunghaih to tawn oh, Kri ah Sithaw mah ang tahmen o baktih toengah, nangcae doeh maeto hoi maeto tahmenhaih tawn oh.
Rather, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as in Christ God forgave you.
