Daniel 6
1 Siangpahrang ukhaih thung boih ah prae ukkung angraeng cumvai, pumphaeto suek hanah, Darius koehhaih oh;
It pleased Darius to appoint over the kingdom 120 provincial governors who would rule over all the kingdom.
2 nihcae to kahoih ah uk moe, siangpahrang ukhaih amro han ai ah, ukkung angraeng thumto a kawk; to kami thumto thungah Daniel doeh athum toeng.
Over them there were three chief administrators, and Daniel was one of them. These chief administrators were appointed so that they might supervise the provincial governors, so that the king should suffer no loss.
3 Daniel loe kalah prae ukkung hoi angraengnawk pong kasang koek poekhaih palungthin to tawnh pongah, siangpahrang mah anih khaeah prae to aap boih hanah poek.
Daniel was distinguished above the other chief administrators and the provincial governors because he had an extraordinary spirit. The king was planning to put him over the whole kingdom.
4 Prae ukhaih kawng pongah ukkungnawk hoi angraengnawk mah Daniel sakpazaehaih hnuk thai hanah pakrong o; toe kasae sakpazaehaih to hnu o thai ai; anih loe oepthoh moe, sakpazaehaih om ai pongah sethaih to hnu o thai ai.
Then the other chief administrators and the provincial governors looked for mistakes in the work Daniel did for the kingdom, but they could find no corruption or failure in his duty because he was faithful. No mistakes or negligence was found in him.
5 Hnukkhuem koek ah to ih kaminawk mah, a bok ih Sithaw kawng pong ai ah loe hae kami Daniel nuiah sakpazaehaih a hnu o thai mak ai, tiah thuih o.
Then these men said, “We cannot find any reason to complain against this Daniel unless we find something against him regarding the law of his God.”
6 To pongah ukkungnawk hoi angraengnawk siangpahrang khaeah caeh o moe, anih khaeah, Aw Darius siangpahrang, na hinglung sawk nasoe!
Then these administrators and governors brought a plan before the king. They said to him, “King Darius, may you live forever!
7 Siangpahrang prae thung ih zaehoikungnawk, angraengnawk, poekhaih paekkungnawk, misatuh angraengnawk boih kam khueng o moe, Aw siangpahrang, nang khue ai ah, kalah Sithaw khaeah maw, to tih ai boeh loe kalah kami khaeah maw, ni qui thumto thung lawkthui kami loe, kaipui paunghaih akhaw thungah va oh, tiah aek thai ai siangpahrang lokpaekhaih kacak rap ah sak hanah ka thuih o.
All the chief administrators of the kingdom, the regional governors, and the provincial governors, the advisors, and the governors have consulted together and decided that you, the king, should issue a decree and should enforce it, so that whoever makes a petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to you, king, that person must be thrown into the den of lions.
8 To pongah vaihi, Aw siangpahrang, amkhrai thai ai, Median hoi Persian kaminawk ih daan baktih toengah, lok takroekhaih to sah ah loe, pakhraih thaih han ai ah, ca ah tarik ah, tiah a naa o.
Now, King, issue a decree and sign the document so that it may not be changed, as directed by the laws of the Medes and Persians, so it cannot be repealed.”
9 To pongah Darius siangpahrang mah tarik ih ca hoi lok takroekhaih to catui daengh o.
So king Darius signed the document making the decree into a law.
10 To tiah tarik ih ca to catui daeng boeh, tiah Daniel mah panoek naah, angmah im ah amlaem. Im ranui ah dawh moe, Jerusalem bangah kanghae thokbuem to paongh, nito naah vai thumto khokkhu cangkrawn hoiah lawk a thuih; canghnii hoi a sakzong ih baktih toengah, angmah ih Sithaw khaeah anghoehaih lawk a thuih.
When Daniel learned that the document had been signed into law, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his upper room toward Jerusalem), and he got down on his knees, as he did three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done before.
11 To naah Daniel loe angmah ih Sithaw khaeah lawkthuih moe, tahmenhaih a hnik, tiah to ah amkhueng toksah angraengnawk mah hnuk o.
Then these men who had formed the plot together saw Daniel make requests and seek help from God.
12 To pongah nihcae loe siangpahrang khaeah caeh o moe, siangpahrang mah sak ih lok takroekhaih to a thuih pae o; Aw siangpahrang, nang khae khue ai ah, kalah Sithaw khaeah maw, to tih ai boeh loe kalah kami khaeah maw, ni qui thumto thung lawkthui kami loe, kaipui paunghaih akhaw thungah va oh, tiah lokpaekhaih to catui na daengh boeh na ai maw? tiah a naa o. Siangpahrang mah, Amkhrai thai ai, Median hoi Persian kaminawk ih daan baktih toengah, lok takroekhaih loe cak bae, tiah a naa.
Then they approached the king and spoke with him about his decree: “Did you not make a decree that everyone who makes a petition to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, king, must be throw into the den of lions?” The king answered, “The matter is settled, as directed by the law of the Medes and Persians; it cannot be repealed.”
13 To naah nihcae mah siangpahrang khaeah, Aw siangpahrang, Judah prae ah naeh ih Judah kaminawk thungah kathum, Daniel loe nang to tiah doeh sah ai, catui na daeng ih lokpaekhaih doeh dawncang ai; nito naah vai thumto lawk a thuih, tiah a naa o.
Then they replied to the king, “That person Daniel, who is one of the people of the exile from Judah, pays no attention to you, king, or to the decree that you have signed. He prays to his God three times a day.”
14 Siangpahrang mah to lok to thaih naah, palung set, Daniel to loisak hanah a poek; anih loisak hanah niduem khoek to tha pathok.
When the king heard this, he was terribly distressed, and he applied his mind to rescue Daniel from this ruling. He labored until sunset to try to save Daniel.
15 To pacoengah to kaminawk loe siangpahrang khaeah caeh o moe, Aw siangpahrang, Median hoi Persian kaminawk ih daan baktih toengah, siangpahrang mah sak ih lokpaekhaih hoi daan loe pakhrai thai ai boeh, tiah panoek ah, tiah a naa o.
Then these men who had formed the plot gathered together with the king and said to him, “Know, king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no decree or statute that the king issues can be changed.”
16 To pongah siangpahrang mah paek ih lok baktih toengah, nihcae mah Daniel to cae o haih moe, kaipui khaw thungah vah o. Siangpahrang mah Daniel khaeah, Boeng ai ah na bok ih Sithaw mah na pahlong tih hmang! tiah a naa.
Then the king gave an order, and they brought in Daniel, and they threw him into the lions' den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you.”
17 Thlung kangphaek maeto lak o moe, thlungkhaw to kraeng o khoep; siangpahrang mah Daniel nuiah lokcaekhaih amkhrai thai han ai ah, angmah ih tacik hoi angmah angraengnawk ih tacik to daengh.
A stone was brought over the entrance to the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signet rings of his nobles so that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.
18 To pacoengah siangpahrang loe angmah im ah amlaem, aqum puek buh caa ai; katoeng tamoi kruek kop kaminawk doeh anih khaeah caeh o ai; to pongah iip thai ai boeh.
Then the king went to his palace and he went through the night fasting. No entertainment was brought before him, and sleep fled from him.
19 Siangpahrang loe akhawnbang khawnthaw ah angthawk moe, kaipui khaw ohhaih ahmuen ah karang ah caeh.
Then at daybreak the king got up and he quickly went to the lions' den.
20 Kaipui khaw taeng a phak naah qah hoiah Daniel to a palawk, Aw Daniel, kahing Sithaw ih tamna, boeng thai ai ah na bok ih, na Sithaw mah, kaipui pakha thung hoiah ang loisak maw? tiah a naa.
As he came near to the den, he called out to Daniel in a sad voice, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to save you from the lions?”
21 To naah Daniel mah, Aw siangpahrang, na hinglung sawk nasoe!
Then said Daniel to the king, “King, live forever!
22 Ka Sithaw mah angmah ih van kami to patoeh moe, kaipui pakha to tamuep khoep pongah, ahmaa ka caa ai; a mikhnuk ah zaehaih ka tawn ai, Aw siangpahrang, na hma ah zaehaih tidoeh ka sah ai pongah, nganbawh kana na paek ai, tiah a naa.
My God has sent his messenger and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me. For I was found blameless before him and also before you, king, and I have done you no harm.”
23 To naah siangpharang loe paroeai anghoe moe, Daniel to kaipui khaw thung hoiah lak hanah lok a paek. Daniel to kaipui khaw thung hoiah lak o, anih loe angmah ih Sithaw to tang pongah, takpum nuiah nganbawh kana tidoeh hnu ai.
Then the king was very happy. He gave an order that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was lifted up out of the den. No harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
24 To pacoengah siangpahrang lokpaekhaih baktih toengah, Daniel zaehaih net kaminawk to hoih o moe, a caanawk hoi a zunawk boih kaipui khaw thungah vah o; nihcae loe kaipuinawk mah rawkcak ah caak han mataeng doeh khawt ai, long ah pha o ai naah, kaipuinawk mah nihcae ih ahuh to taaih pae o boih.
The king gave an order, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel and threw them into the den of lions—they, their children, and their wives. Before they reached the floor, the lions overpowered them and broke all their bones to pieces.
25 To naah Darius siangpahrang mah, kaminawk boih, prae kaminawk, lok congca pae kaminawk khaeah, Monghaih nangcae khaeah pung nasoe!
Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages that live in all the earth: “May peace increase for you.
26 Ka ukhaih prae thungah kaom kaminawk boih mah Daniel ih Sithaw hmaa ah tasoeh takuenhaih hoi zithaih hoiah om o nasoe, tiah lok takroekhaih to ka sak boeh. Anih loe dungzan khoek to kacak, kahing Sithaw ah oh, a prae loe amro mak ai, a ukhaih doeh long boeng khoek to cak tih.
I hereby make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God and lives forever, and his kingdom shall not be destroyed; his dominion shall be to the end.
27 Anih mah ni pahlong moe, loisak, van hoi long ah angmathaih hoi dawnrai hmuennawk to a sak; anih mah ni Daniel to kaipui thacakhaih thung hoiah pahlong, tiah ca tarik pae.
He makes us safe and rescues us, and he does signs and wonders in heaven and in earth; he has kept Daniel safe from the strength of the lions.”
28 To pongah Daniel loe Darius siangpahrang ukhaih thung hoi Persia kami Cyrus siangpahrang ukhaih thungah, khosak hoihhaih to hnuk.
So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and during the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
