1 Caesarea vangpui ah Kornelia, tiah kawk ih kami maeto oh, anih loe Italy misatuh kami cumvaito ukkung ah oh moe,
NOW there was a man at Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of the cohort called the Italic,
2 anih hoi a imthung takoh boih loe Sithaw zii kami, bokhaih bangah angpaek kami ah oh o, anih loe amtang kaminawk hanah hmuenmae paek khue ai ah, Sithaw khae lawkthui toepsoep kami ah oh.
a man of piety, and who feared God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and praying to God continually.
3 Atue thumto phak naah, anih mah hnuksakhaih hmuen maeto a hnuk, Sithaw ih van kami angzoh moe, anih khaeah, Kornelia, tiah a naa.
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.
4 Kornelia mah anih to khet naah zit moe, Angraeng, tih maw? tiah a naa. Anih mah Kornelia khaeah, Na lawkthuihaih hoi amtang kaminawk hanah na paqumh ih hmuen loe, panoek poe hanah Sithaw hmaa angzoh tahang boeh.
Then looking stedfastly on him, and being terrified, he said, What means this, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
5 Vaihi Joppa vangpui ah kami patoeh ah loe Piter, tiah kawk ih, Simon to kawk ah:
And now send men to Joppa, and inquire for Simon, who is surnamed Peter:
6 anih loe moihin huikung Simon im ah oh, anih ih im loe tuipui taengah oh: anih mah na sak han koi hmuen to na thui tih, tiah a naa.
he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is near the sea: this man will tell thee what thou must do.
7 Anih khaeah lok kathui van kami to tacawt pacoengah, Kornelia mah a tamna hnik hoi Sithaw tanghaih tawn misatuh kami maeto a kawk moe;
But when the angel departed who spake to Cornelius, he called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier, persons who constantly were in attendance upon him;
8 a hnuk ih hmuen hoi a thaih ih hmuennawk to a thuih pae boih pacoengah, nihcae to Joppa vangpui ah patoeh.
and relating all things to them, sent them to Joppa.
9 Khawnbangah loe nihcae kholong caeh amsak o, Joppa vangpui to a phak o tom boeh, Piter loe lawkthuih hanah atue tarukto naah im ranui asom ah dawh tahang:
Then the next morning, as they were on their journey, and drew near to the city, Peter went up to the flat roof to pray about the sixth hour:
10 anih loe zok amthlam parai pongah, buhcaak han koeh boeh: buhcaak hanah patoem pae o naah, hnuksakhaih to a hnuk,
and he grew very hungry, and desired something to eat: but whilst they were getting it ready, a sacred ecstacy fell upon him.
11 kam-ong van to a hnuk, anih khae krah tathuk, takii palito kaom kahni anih khaeah long ah khrah tathuk hmuen to a hnuk.
And he saw heaven opened, and there descended to him a certain vessel, as a great sheet with chains at the four corners, and resting upon the earth:
12 To kahni pongah loe khok palito kaom congca moinawk to oh, long ah kaom moisannawk, long ah kavak hmuennawk hoi van ah kazawk tavaanawk doeh oh.
in which were all the quadrupeds of the earth, and wild beasts, and reptiles, and birds of the air.
13 To naah anih khaeah lok maeto angzoh moe, Piter angthawk ah; bop ah loe, caa ah, tiah a naa.
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; slay and eat.
14 Toe Piter mah, Angcoeng thai ai, Angraeng; caak vai ai ih hmuen, to tih ai boeh loe ciimcai ai hmuen roe ka caa vai ai, tiah a naa.
But Peter said, By no means, Lord for I have never at any time eaten of any thing common or unclean.
15 Vai hnetto haih ih lok mah anih khaeah, Sithaw mah ciimsak tangcae ih hmuen to ciimcai ai, tiah na thuih han om ai, tiah a naa.
And the voice again a second time came to him, What God hath cleansed, call not thou unclean.
16 To tiah vaithumto amtueng; to pacoengah loe to hmuen to van ah lak tahang let.
This was thrice repeated: and the vessel was again taken up into heaven.
17 Piter mah to tiah hnuk ih hmuen loe tih thuih koehhaih ih maw vai, tiah a poek li naah, khenah, Kornerlia mah patoeh ih kaminawk mah Simon ih im to pakrong o, khongkha hma ah angdoet o moe,
But while Peter was perplexed in himself what was meant by the vision which he had seen, then, behold! the men which had been sent by Cornelius having inquired out the house of Simon, stood before the door,
18 Piter, tiah kawk ih Simon to haeah oh maw? tiah a dueng o.
and calling, asked if Simon, surnamed Peter, lodged there.
19 Piter mah a hnuk ih hmuen to poek li naah, Muithla mah anih khaeah, Khenah, kami long thumto mah nang ang pakrong o, tiah a naa.
But while Peter was musing upon the vision, the Spirit said to him, Lo! three men are inquiring after thee.
20 To pongah angthawk ah, anghum tathuk ah loe, nihcae hoi nawnto caeh ah, palunghaenghaih tawn hmah, kai mah ni nihcae to kang patoeh, tiah a naa.
Arise then, and go down, and go with them, entertaining no doubt, for I have sent them.
21 Piter loe anghum tathuk moe, Kornelia mah patoeh ih kaminawk khaeah; khenah, na pakrong o ih kami loe kai hae ni: tih sak han ih maw nang zoh o? tiah a naa.
Then Peter went down to the men who were sent by Cornelius to him; and said, Lo! I am the person that ye ask for: what is the business on which ye are come hither?
22 Nihcae mah, Kami katoeng, Sithaw zii kami, Judah kaminawk boih mah saiqat o ih misatuh cumvaito ukkung Kornerlia mah, nang to angmah im ah kawk moe, na thuih ih lok to tahngaih hanah, Sithaw mah kaciim van kami maeto rang hoiah lok a thuih pae, tiah a naa o.
Then they said, Cornelius a centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report with all the nation of the Jews, has been divinely admonished by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, to hear words from thee.
23 To naah Piter mah nihcae to imthung ah kawk moe, anghaksak. Khawnbangah Piter loe nihcae hoi nawnto caeh, Joppa vangpui ah kaom nawkamya thoemtonawk doeh anih hnukah bang o.
Then inviting them in, he lodged them there. And the next morning Peter went with them, and some of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
24 Khawnbangah Caesarea vangpui thungah akun o. Kornerlia loe angmah ih canawk hoi kangzong ampuinawk to kawk moe, nihcae to zing o.
And the next day they entered into Caesarea. Now Cornelius was expecting them, having called together his relations and nearest friends.
25 Piter imthung ah akun naah, Kornerlia mah anih to dawt moe, a khokkung ah tabok hoiah anih to bok.
And as Peter was entering, Cornelius met him, and falling at his feet, paid him homage.
26 Toe Piter mah anih to pathawk, angthawk ah, kai doeh kami maeto toeng ni, tiah a naa.
But Peter raised him up, saying, Arise; I also myself am a man.
27 Lok apaeh hoi pacoengah, Piter loe imthung ah akun, to naah pop parai amkhueng kaminawk to a hnuk.
And conversing with him, he entered, and found many assembled together.
28 Peter mah nihcae khaeah, minawk kalah hoi angkom moe, nawnto oh hae Judah kaminawk ih atawk na ai ni, tito na panoek o; toe kawbaktih kami khaeah doeh nang loe na ciimcai ai, nam hnong aak, tiah thuih han ai ah, Sithaw mah hmuen ang patuek boeh.
And he said unto them, Ye know how contrary it is to established usage, for a man who is a Jew to associate with or visit one of another nation; but God hath shewed me to call no man common or unclean.
29 To pongah kai nang kawk o naah, angaekhaih tidoeh om ai ah nangcae khaeah kang zoh: tih han ih maw kai haeah nang kawk o? tiah lokdueng han ka koeh, tiah a naa.
Wherefore also without a word, I came when invited: I beg to know therefore for what purpose ye have sent for me?
30 To naah Kornerlia mah, Kalaem tangcae ni palito, vaihi tue thuem, atue takawtto naah, buhzah hoiah kaimah im ah lawk ka thuih; khenah, kampha kahni angkhuk kami maeto ka hma ah angdoet moe,
Then Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting till this hour; and at the ninth hour I was praying in my house, and, lo! a man stood before me in shining apparel,
31 kai khaeah, Kornerlia, lawk na thuihaih lok to thaih boeh, amtang kaminawk han na paqumh ih hmuennawk doeh Sithaw mah panoek boeh.
and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thy alms are remembered before God.
32 To pongah Joppa vangpui ah kami to patoeh ah loe, Piter, tiah ahmin kaom Simon to kawk ah; anih loe tuipui taengah kaom moihin sahkung, Simon im ah toemh: anih phak naah, nang hanah lokthui tih, tiah ang naa.
Send therefore to Joppa, and invite Simon, whose surname is Peter, to come to thee; he lodgeth in the house of Simon the tanner, near the sea: who, when he is come will talk with thee.
33 To pongah kami kang patoeh roep; haeah nang zoh hae paroeai hoih. To pongah Sithaw mah ang paek ih hmuennawk boih tahngaih hanah, kaicae loe vaihi Sithaw hmaa ah kang cuu o, tiah a naa.
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast done well in coming. Now therefore are all we here present before God, to hear all things that are given in charge to thee from God.
34 To pacoengah Piter mah lokthuih amtong, Sithaw loe mi kawbaktih ih mikhmai doeh khen ai, tiah thuih ih lok loe amsoem, tito vaihi ka panoek boeh;
Then Peter opening his mouth, said, In truth I perceive that God is not a respecter of persons:
35 toe zithaih tawn kami hoi toenghaih sah prae kaminawk boih to anih mah talawk.
but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.
36 Sithaw mah Israel caanawk khaeah patoeh ih lok mah, Jesu Kri rang hoiah monghaih lok to thuih: (anih loe kaminawk boih ih Angraeng ah oh: )
The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, (he is Lord of all, ) ye know:
37 Johan mah tuinuemhaih lok thuih pacoengah, Kalili prae hoiah amtong moe, Judea prae boih ah thuih ih to tamthang lok to na panoek o boeh;
even that which was the common talk through all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 Sithaw mah anih to oh thuih pongah, Sithaw mah Kacai Muithla hoi thacakhaih hoiah Nazareth Jesu to situi bawh, anih loe kahoih hmuennawk to sak moe, taqawk mah pacaekthlaek ih kaminawk doeh ngan a tuisak, tito na panoek o.
respecting Jesus, who was of Nazareth, how God had anointed him with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were tyrannically oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39 Kaicae loe anih mah Judah prae hoi Jerusalem ah sak ih hmuenawk boih hnukung ah ka oh o; Anih to thinglam pongah takhing o moe, hum o:
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the region of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they killed suspending him on a tree:
40 Toe Sithaw mah ni thumto pacoengah Anih to pathawk let, Anih to kamnoek ah amtuengsak boeh;
him God raised up the third day, and ordained that he should be visibly manifested;
41 Anih loe kaminawk boih khaeah amtueng ai, toe duekhaih thung hoi angthawk let pacoengah, angmah hoi buh nawnto kacaa Sithaw angmah qoih coek ih hnukungah kaom, kaicae khaeah ni amtueng.
not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he was arisen from the dead.
42 Sithaw mah Anih hanah kadueh hoi kahing kaminawk lokcaekhaih to paek boeh, tiah kaminawk khaeah thuih moe, panoeksak hanah, kaicae khaeah lok ang paek.
And hath commanded us to proclaim to the people, and to bear our testimony that this is the person who is ordained of God the Judge of the living and the dead.
43 Mi kawbaktih doeh anih tang kami loe angmah ih ahmin rang hoiah zae tahmenhaih to hnu tih, tiah tahmaanawk boih mah thuih o boeh.
To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one who believeth in him, shall receive remission of sins.
44 Piter mah hae loknawk thuih li naah, lok thaih kaminawk boih nuiah Kacai Muithla to krak tathuk.
While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all who heard the discourse.
45 Gentel kaminawk nuiah doeh Kacai Muithla tangqum to kraih pae toeng boeh pongah, Piter hoi nawnto angzo tangzat hin aat tangcaanawk loe dawnrai o.
And they of the circumcision who were believers, as many as came with Peter, were amazed, because even on the Gentiles the gift of the holy Ghost was poured out.
46 Nihcae mah kalah loknawk to apaeh o moe, Sithaw pakoeh o boeh, tito nihcae mah thaih o. To pacoengah Piter mah,
For they heard them speaking in different languages, and magnifying God. Then Peter addressed them,
47 tuinuemhaih paek han ai ah, mi mah maw hae kaminawk hae pakaa thai tih? Kaicae mah talawk ih baktih toengah, nihcae mah doeh Kacai Muithla to talawk o toeng boeh, tiah a naa.
Can any one forbid the water for baptising these persons, who have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 To pongah nihcae to Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah tuinuem hanah a thuih pae. To pacoengah nihcae mah Piter khaeah, ni nazetto thungah maw loe cam rae hanah, tahmenhaih hnik o.
So he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then they entreated him to tarry there some days.
