< 2 Korin 8 >

1 Nawkamyanawk, Macedonia prae ih kricaabunawk nuiah Sithaw mah paek ih tahmenhaih to na panoek o han kang koeh o haih;
We want to remind you, friends, of the love that God has shown to the churches in Macedonia –
2 to kricaabunawk loe kanung parai patangkhanghaih a tongh o, toe anghoehaih a tawnh o, paroeai amtang o, toe paawthaih om ai ah hmuen a paek o thaih.
How, tired though they were by many a trouble, their overflowing happiness, and even their deep poverty, resulted in a flood of generosity.
3 Ue, nihcae loe a paek o thaihaih pong kamthlai ah paek koehhaih palung a tawnh o, tito ka panoek;
I can bear witness that to the full extent of their power, and even beyond their power, spontaneously,
4 Sithaw tok nawnto sah kaciim kaminawk abomhaih nihcae ih tangqum ka talawk pae o hanah, tahmenhaih ang hnik o.
and with many an appeal to us for permission, they showed their love, and contributed their share towards the fund for their fellow Christians.
5 Ka poek o ih hmuen pong kamthlai ah tok ka sak o, hmaloe koekah angmacae hoi angmacae to Angraeng khaeah ang paek o, to pacoengah Sithaw koehhaih baktiah kaicae khaeah doeh ang paek o.
And that, not only in the way we had expected; but first they gave themselves to the Lord, and to us also, in accordance with God’s will.
6 Anih mah nangcae khaeah hae baktih toksak amtong boeh pongah, hae tahmenhaih tok hae boeng khoek to a sak ngala hanah, Titu khaeah tamenhaih ka hnik o.
And this led us to beg Titus, that since he had started the work for you, he should also see to the completion of this expression of your love.
7 Toe nangcae loe tanghaih, lokthuihaih, palunghahaih, panoekhaih hoi hmuennawk boih ah minawk kalah pongah na sak o thai kue; Kaicae palunghaih bangah na koep o baktih toengah, hae tahmenhaih toksakhaih bangah doeh tha na pathok o hanah kang koeh o haih.
And, remembering how you excel in everything – in faith, in teaching, in knowledge, in unfailing earnestness, and in the affection that we have awakened in you – I ask you to excel also in this expression of your love.
8 Nangcae khaeah kaalok paek ih baktiah lok ka thui ai, toe kalah kaminawk mah tha pathokhaih hoi nangcae amlunghaih loe tangtang maw tangtang ai, tito tah tanoek han ih ni ka thuih.
I am not laying a command on you, but I am making use of the earnestness shown by others to test the genuineness of your affection.
9 Aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri tahmenhaih to na panoek o, Anih loe angraeng, toe Anih amtanghaih rang hoiah nangcae angraeng o thai hanah, nangcae pongah Anih loe kamtang ah oh.
For you do not forget the loving kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ – how that for your sakes, although he was rich, he became poor, so that you also might become rich through his poverty.
10 Hnukbang saning hoiah toksak nam tong o khue na ai ah, koehhaih palungthin hoiah na sak o hanah, poekhaih kang paek o;
I am only making suggestions on this matter; for this is the best course for you, since you were a year before others, not only in taking action, but also in showing your readiness to do so.
11 sak han na koeh o pongah, vaihi na sak o ih tok to, pacoeng khoek to na sak o han oh.
And now I want you to complete the work, so that its completion may correspond with your willing readiness – in proportion, of course, to your means.
12 Tawn ai thung hoiah paek ih hmuen baktih na ai ah, paek koehhaih palungthin tawnh hmaloe pongah, a tawnh ih hmuen thung hoiah paek ih hmuen loe, talawk thaih koiah oh.
For, where there is willingness, a person’s gift is valued by its comparison with what they have, and not with what they do not have.
13 Minawk han khosak zoisak moe, nangcae hmuenzit phawsak hanah thuih koehhaih ih na ai ni:
For our object is not to give relief to others and bring distress on you. It is a matter of a fair balance.
14 kangvan ah khen si tih nahaeloe, vaihi na tawnh o mangh naah, kavawt nihcae to na bomh o han oh, nihcae tawnh o mangh naah doeh, kavawt nangcae to abom o han oh, to tiah ni maeto hoi maeto angvanhaih om tih:
On this occasion what you can spare will supply what they need, at another time what they can spare may supply your need, and so things will be equal.
15 kapop ah akhui kami loe kamthlai ah tawn ai; zetta akhui kami doeh vawt ai, tiah tarik ih oh.
As scripture says – “Those who had much had nothing over, and those who had little did not lack!”
16 Titu ih palung thungah nangcae khetzawn koehhaih palung paekkung, Sithaw khaeah kawnhaih lawk ka thuih.
I thank God for inspiring Titus with the same keen interest in your welfare that I have;
17 Anih loe ka thuih ih lok to talawk moe, nangcae khetzawn koehhaih palung tawnh pongah, a caeh koehhaih palungthin hoiah ni nangcae khaeah angzoh.
for Titus has responded to my appeals and, in his great earnestness, is starting to go to you of his own accord.
18 Tamthanglok thuihaih bangah kricaabu boih mah pakoeh o ih, nawkamya to anih hoi nawnto kang patoeh o;
We are sending with him one of the Lord’s followers whose fame in the service of the good news has spread through all the churches;
19 to khue ai, to nawkamya loe Angraeng angmah to pakoeh moe, a tawnh o ih abomh koehhaih palungthin amtuengsak hanah, hae tangqum sinh hoiah kaicae hoi nawnto kholong caeh hanah, kricaabu mah qoih ih kami ah oh.
and not only that, but he has been elected by the churches to accompany us on our journey, in connexion with this expression of your love, which we are personally administering to the honour of the Lord, and to show our deep interest.
20 Pop parai hae tangqum paekhaih tok ka sak o naah, minawk mah kasae ang thuih o han ai ah, kaicae loe acoehaih hoiah ni tok ka sak o:
What we are specially guarding against is that any fault should be found with us in regard to our administration of this charitable fund;
21 Angraeng hmaa khue ah na ai, kaminawk hmaa ah doeh, pakoeh koi kaom ah tok ka sak o.
for we are trying to make arrangements which will be right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of people.
22 Kicae ih amnawk maeto doeh, nihcae hoi nawnto kang patoeh, anih loe hmuen boih ah minawk abomh koehhaih bangah palungthin thacak kami ni, tito panoek o boeh, nangcae nuiah kating ai oephaih ka tawnh pongah, anih loe vaihi abom koehhaih palungthin thacak aep aep.
We are also sending with them another of our friends, whose earnestness we have many a time proved in many ways, and whom we now find made even more earnest by his great confidence in you.
23 Titu loe kawbaktih kami maw, tiah dueng han koeh kami om nahaeloe, anih loe nangcae khaeah kai hoi nawnto toksah ampui ah oh: kalah aicae ih nawkamyanawk loe mi maw, tiah dueng o nahaeloe, nihcae loe Kri lensawkhaih ah kaom, kricaabunawk mah patoeh ih kami ah oh o.
If I must say anything about Titus, he is my intimate companion, and he shares my work for you; if it is our friends, they are delegates of the churches, an honour to Christ.
24 To pongah nangcae amlunghaih hoi kam oek o haih to, kricaabunawk hmaa hoi nihcae khaeah amtueng o sak ah.
Show them, therefore – so that the churches may see it – the proof of your affection, and the ground for our boasting to them about you.
