< 1 Korin 1 >

1 Sithaw koehhhaih baktiah patoeh ih kami ah oh hanah, Jesu Kri mah kawk ih Pawl hoi aicae nawkamya Sothena loe,
To the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated by union with Christ Jesus and called to become his people, and also to all, wherever they may be, who invoke the name of our Lord Jesus Christ – their Master and ours,
2 Kri Jesu rang hoiah zaehaih ciim boeh moe, kaciim kami ah kawk ih, Korin vangpui ah kaom Sithaw kricaabunawk, ahmuen kruekah nihcae hoi aicae ih, Angraeng Jesu Kri hmin kawk kaminawk boih:
from Paul, who has been called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and from Sosthenes, our fellow follower of the Lord.
3 aicae ampa Sithaw, Angraeng Jesu Kri khae hoi ih tahmenhaih hoi angdaehhaih nangcae khaeah om nasoe.
May God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace.
4 Kri Jesu rang hoiah Sithaw tahmenhaih nangcae khaeah paek boeh pongah, nangcae zuengah Sithaw khaeah kawnhaih lawk ka thuih toepsoep;
I always thank God for you. I thank him for the blessing bestowed on you in Christ Jesus.
5 lokthuihaih hoi panoekhaih boih ah, Anih rang hoi hmuen boih ah na koep o boeh;
For through union with him you were enriched in every way – in your power to preach, and in your knowledge of the truth;
6 ka thuih ih Kri tamthanglok doeh nangcae khaeah caksak boeh:
and so became yourselves a confirmation of my testimony to the Christ.
7 to pongah aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri angzoh lethaih na zing o naah, tangqum maeto doeh pathlong ai ah na oh o:
There is no gift in which you are deficient, while waiting for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.
8 aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri ih niah coek koi om ai ah na oh o thai hanah, boeng khoek to Anih mah na cak o sak tih.
And God himself will strengthen you to the end, so that at the day of our Lord Jesus Christ you may be found blameless.
9 Sithaw loe oepthoh, Anih rang hoiah ni a Capa, aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri hoi angkom hanah nangcae to ang kawk.
God will not fail you, and it is he who called you into communion with his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
10 Nawkamyanawk, nangcae salakah ampraekhaih oh han ai ah, lok maeto ah na thuih o moe, poekhaih maeto tawnh pacoengah, lok na takroek o hanah, aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri hmin hoiah kang pacae o.
But I appeal to you, my friends, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree in what you profess, and not to allow divisions to exist among you, but to be united – of one mind and of one opinion.
11 Nawkamyanawk, nangcae thungah lok angaekhaih oh ti, tiah Khaloe imthung takohnawk mah ang thuih o.
For I have been informed, my friends, by the members of Chloe’s household, that party feeling exists among you.
12 Nangcae thung ih thoemto kaminawk mah, Kai loe Pawl ih kami ni, kai loe Apollo ih kami ni, kai loe Kipha ih kami ni, kai loe Kri ih kami ni, tiah thuih o pongah, vaihi hae lok hae kang thuih o.
I mean this: that every one of you says either ‘I follow Paul,’ or ‘I Apollos,’ or ‘I Cephas,’ or ‘I Christ.’
13 Kri loe ampraek phang maw? Nangcae zuengah Pawl maw takhing o? To ai tih boeh loe Pawl ih ahmin hoiah maw tuinuemhaih na hnuk o?
You have torn the Christ in pieces! Was it Paul who was crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 Krispa hoi Kaia thui ai ah, nangcae thung ih kami maeto doeh tuinuemhaih kang paek o ai pongah, Sithaw khaeah kawnhaih lawk ka thuih;
I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 To tih ai nahaeloe minawk mah kaimah ih ahmin hoiah tuinuemhaih ka paek, tiah thui o moeng tih.
so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name.
16 Stephen cakawhnawk doeh tuinuemhaih ka paek: nihcae ai ah loe kalah kaminawk tuinuem paekhaih ka panoek ai.
I baptized also the household of Stephanas. I do not know that I baptized anyone else.
17 Kri mah tuinuem hanah na patoeh ai, lokthui kophaih hoiah lok taphong hanah doeh na patoeh ai, kahoih tamthanglok taphong han ih ni ang patoeh; to tih ai nahaeloe Kri ih thinglam to azom pui ah om moeng tih.
My mission from Christ was not to baptize, but to tell the good news; not, however, in the language of philosophy, in case the cross of the Christ should be robbed of its meaning.
18 Thinglam tamthanglok loe anghmaa kaminawk hanah amthuhaih ah oh; toe aicae pahlong caanawk hanah loe Sithaw thacakhaih ah oh.
The message of the cross is indeed mere folly to those who are on the path to ruin, but to us who are on the path of salvation it is the power of God.
19 Palungha kami palunghahaih to kam rosak moe, khopoek thaih kami panoekhaih doeh kang hmatsak han, tiah tarik ih oh.
For scripture says – ‘I will bring the philosophy of the philosophers to naught, and the shrewdness of the shrewd I will bring to nothing.’
20 Palungha kami loe naah maw oh? Ca tarik kami loe naah maw oh? Hae long nui ih angaek kop kami loe naah maw oh? Hae long nui palunghahaih loe Sithaw mah amthuhaih ah ni oh, tiah amtuengsak na ai maw? (aiōn g165)
Where is the philosopher? Where the teacher of the Law? Where the disputant of today? Has not God shown the world’s philosophy to be folly? (aiōn g165)
21 Sithaw palunghahaih loe long palunghahaih mah pha thai ai pongah, long palunghahaih hoiah Sithaw panoek thai ai, Sithaw mah loe kamthu tamthanglok taphonghaih rang hoiah tanghaih tawn kaminawk pahlong hanah koeh.
For since the world, in God’s wisdom, did not by its philosophy learn to know God, God saw fit, by the ‘folly’ of our proclamation, to save those who believe in Christ!
22 Judahnawk mah loe angmathaih to pakrong o moe, Griknawk mah loe palunghahaih to pakrong o:
While Jews ask for miraculous signs, and Greeks study philosophy,
23 toe aicae loe Kri takhinghaih tamthanglok ni a thuih o, Judahnawk hanah amtimhhaih ah oh moe, Griknawk hanah loe amthuhaih ah oh;
we are proclaiming Christ crucified! – to the Jews an obstacle, to the Gentiles mere folly,
24 Judahnawk hanah doeh, Gentelnawk hanah doeh, Kri loe kawk ih kaminawk hanah Sithaw thacakhaih hoi Sithaw palunghahaih ah oh.
but to those who have received the call, whether Jews or Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God!
25 Sithaw amthuhaih loe kaminawk palunghahaih pongah palungha kue; Sithaw thazokhaih loe kami pongah thacak kue.
For God’s ‘folly’ is wiser than people, and God’s ‘weakness’ is stronger than people.
26 Nawkamyanawk, tipongah taksa ah palungha parai kaminawk, thacak parai kaminawk hoi kahoih phi kaminawk to kawk ai ah, nangcae ang kawk lathaih kawng to poek oh:
Look at the facts of your call, friends. There are not many among you who are wise, as people reckon wisdom, not many who are influential, not many who are high-born;
27 toe palungha kaminawk azatsak hanah, Sithaw mah long kamthu kaminawk to qoih boeh; thacak kaminawk azatsak hanah, Sithaw mah long thazok kaminawk to qoih boeh;
but God chose what the world counts foolish to put its wise to shame, and God chose what the world counts weak to put its strong to shame,
28 long ah kaom lokpui parai ah poek ih hmuennawk to amrosak hanah, long nui ih amtang kaminawk, patoek koi kaom kaminawk, tidoeh tawn ai kaminawk to Sithaw mah qoih boeh:
and God chose what the world counts poor and insignificant – things that to it are unreal – to bring its ‘realities’ to nothing,
29 mi kawbaktih doeh Anih hmaa ah amoek o thai han ai ah to tiah a sak.
so that in his presence no one should boast.
30 Toe nangcae loe angmah rang hoiah Kri Jesu ah na oh o, anih loe Sithaw mah sak ih baktih toengah, aicae hanah palunghahaih, toenghaih, ciimcaihaih hoi akranghaih ah oh.
But you, by your union with Christ Jesus, belong to God; and Christ, by God’s will, became not only our wisdom, but also our righteousness, holiness, and deliverance,
31 To pongah, amoek kami loe Angraeng ah amoek nasoe, tiah tarik ih oh.
so that – in the words of scripture – ‘Whoever boasts should boast of the Lord!’
