Sofonias 1

1 Mao kini ang pulong ni Yahweh nga miabot kang Zefanias nga anak nga lalaki ni Cushi nga anak nga lalaki ni Gedalia nga anak nga lalaki ni Amaria nga anak nga lalaki ni Hezekia, sa mga adlaw ni Josia nga anak nga lalaki ni Amon, nga hari sa Juda.

The word of the Lord which came to Sophonias the son of Chusi, the son of Godolias, the son of Amorias, the son of Ezekias, in the days of Josias son of Amon, king of Juda.

2 “Pagalaglagon ko sa hingpit ang tanan butang nga anaa ibabaw sa kalibotan—mao kini ang gipamulong ni Yahweh.

Let there be an utter cutting off from the face of the land, saith the Lord.

3 Piliglagon ko ang tawo ug ang mapintas nga mananap; laglagon ko ang mga langgam sa kalangitan ug ang mga isda sa kadagatan, ang pagkagun-ob uban sa mga daotan. Tungod kay puohon ko ang tawo sa kalibotan—mao kini ang gipamulong ni Yahweh.

Let man and cattle be cut off; let the birds of the air and the fishes of the sea be cut off; and the ungodly shall fail, and I will take away the transgressors from the face of the land, saith the Lord.

4 Hampakon ko sa akong kamot ang tibuok Juda ug ang tanan nga mga lumulupyo sa Jerusalem. Puohon ko ang tanan nga nagsimba kang Baal gikan niining dapita ug ang mga ngalan sa mga tawo nga nagsimbag diosdios taliwala niining mga pari,

And I will stretch out mine hand upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will remove the names of Baal out of this place, and the names of the priests;

5 ang katawhan nga atoa sa atop sa mga balay nga nagsimba sa langitnong mga binuhat, ug ang katawhan nga nagsimba ug nanumpa kang Yahweh apan nanumpa usab pinaagi sa ilang hari.

and them that worship the host of heaven upon the house-tops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;

6 Puohon ko usab kadtong nagdumili sa pagsunod kang Yahweh, niadtong wala midangop kang Yahweh ug wala nangayo sa iyang giya.”

and them that turn aside from the Lord, and them that seek not the Lord, and them that cleave not to the Lord.

7 Paghilom sa atubangan sa Ginoo nga si Yahweh! Kay haduol na ang adlaw ni Yahweh; Giandam na ni Yahweh ang halad ug gilain na niya ang iyang mga dinapit.

Fear ye before the Lord God; for the day of the Lord is near; for the Lord has prepared his sacrifice, and has sanctified his guests.

8 “Mahitabo kini nga adlaw panahon nga maghalad si Yahweh, niana silotan niya ang mga prinsipe ug ang mga anak nga lalaki sa hari, ug ang tanan nga nagsul-ob ug bisti sa mga langyaw.

And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will take vengeance on the princes, and on the king's house, and upon all that wear strange apparel.

9 Niana nga adlaw silotan ko ang tanan nga managlukso ngadto sa bakanan sa pultahan, niadtong mipuno sa kasamok ug pagpangilad sa balay sa iyang agalon.

And I will openly take vengeance on the porches in that day, [on the men] that fill the house of the Lord their God with ungodliness and deceit.

10 Busa mahitabo gayod kini nianang adlawa—mao kini ang gipamulong ni Yahweh—nga ang paghilak sa kalisdanan maggikan sa Ganghaan sa Isda, pagdanguyngoy nga gikan sa Ikaduhang Distrito, ug ang labihan nga saba sa pagkahugno gikan sa kabungtoran.

And there shall be in that day, saith the Lord, the sound of a cry from the gate of men slaying, and a howling from the second [gate], and a great crashing from the hills.

11 Pagdanguyngoy, mga lumulupyo sa Merkado nga Distrito, tungod kay pagapukanon ang tanang mga negosyante; kadtong tanan nga namaligya sa plata pagapuohon usab.

Lament, ye that inhabit the [city] that has been broken down, for all the people has become like Chanaan; and all that were exalted by silver have been utterly destroyed.

12 Moabot gayod ang panahon nga pangitaon ko ang Jerusalem gamit ang mga lampara ug silotan ko kadtong mga tawo nga nangahubog sa ilang bino ug miingon diha sa ilang kasingkasing, 'Walay buhaton si Yahweh, maayo man o daotan.'

And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] I will search Jerusalem with a candle, and will take vengeance on the men that despise the things committed to them; but they say in their hearts, The Lord will not do any good, neither will he do any evil.

13 Pagailogon ang ilang mga kabtangan, ug ang ilang mga balay mapasagdan ug mangaguba! Motukod silag mga balay apan dili sila makapuyo niini, magtanom sila ug mga ubas apan dili sila makainom sa duga niini.

And their power shall be for a spoil, and their houses for utter desolation; and they shall build houses, but shall not dwell in them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine of them.

14 Ang dakong adlaw ni Yahweh haduol na, haduol na sa hilabihan! Ang tingod sa adlaw ni Yahweh sama sa mapait nga paghilak sa manggugubat!

For the great day of the Lord [is] near, [it is] near, and very speedy; the sound of the day of the Lord is made bitter and harsh.

15 Kana nga adlaw mao ang adlaw sa kaligutgot, ang adlaw sa hilabihan nga kalisdanan ug pag-antos, ang adlaw sa bagyo ug kadaot, ang adlaw sa kangitngit ug kadulom, ang madag-umon nga adlaw ug labihan nga kangitngit.

A mighty day of wrath is that day, a day of affliction and distress, a day of desolation and destruction, a day of gloominess and darkness, a day of cloud and vapour,

16 Adlaw gayod kini sa mga trumpeta ug pasidaan batok sa lig-on nga mga siyudad ug sa taas nga mga panagsangka.

a day of the trumpet and cry against the strong cities, and against the high towers.

17 Kay magdala ako ug kalisdanan alang sa katawhan, aron niana maglakaw sila sama sa buta nga tawo tungod kay nagpakasala man sila batok kang Yahweh. Ang ilang dugo ibubo sama sa abog, ug ang ilang kinasuloran nga mga bahin mahisama sa hugaw.

And I will greatly afflict the men, and they shall walk as blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord; therefore he shall pour out their blood as dust, and their flesh as dung.

18 Nagtuo sila nga ang ilang mga plata ni bulawan makaluwas kanila sa adlaw sa kasuko ni Yahweh. Ang pagdilaab sa iyang pangabubho molamoy sa tibuok nga kalibotan, tungod kay magadala siya sa hingpit, ug makalilisang nga kataposan sa tanan nga mipuyo sa kalibotan.”

And their silver and their gold shall in nowise be able to rescue them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealously; for he will bring a speedy destruction on all them that inhabit the land.
