Josue 20

1 Unya miingon si Yahweh kang Josue,

The LORD also spoke to Joshua, saying,

2 “Sultihi ang katawhan sa Israel, 'Nga magpili ug mga siyudad nga dalangpanan diin akong gisulti kanimo pinaagi sa kamot ni Moises.

Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint for you cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses:

3 Buhata kini aron nga ang usa nga nakapatay nga wala tuyo-a makaadto didto. Kini nga mga siyudad mahimong dapit nga dalangpanan gikan sa tanan nga nagapangita sa pagpanimalos sa dugo sa usa ka tawo nga gipatay.

That the slayer that killeth any person unintentionally and unknowingly may flee there: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

4 Modagan siya sa usa niadtong mga siyudara ug mobarog didto sa pultahan sa ganghaan sa siyudad, ug ipasabot ang iyang sala ngadto sa mga kadagkoan niana nga siyudad. Unya dalhon nila siya ngadto sa siyudad ug hatagan ug dapit aron magpuyo uban kanila.

And when he that doth flee to one of those cities shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city to them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.

5 Ug kung adunay moabot aron sa pagpanimalos sa dugo sa tawo nga gipatay, dili kinahanglan itugyan sa mga tawo niana nga siyudad ngadto sa mga panggamhanan ang tawo nga nakapatay kaniya. Kinahanglan dili nila kini buhaton, tungod kay wala niya gituyo ang pagpatay sa iyang silingan ug wala man siyay kasuko kaniya sa wala pa kini nahitabo.

And if the avenger of blood shall pursue him, then they shall not deliver the slayer into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unknowingly, and had not hated him in times past.

6 Kinahanglan magpabilin siya niana nga siyudad hangtod nga moatubang siya sa panagtigom alang sa paghukom, hangtod sa kamatayon sa tawo nga nagbarog ingon nga labawng pari niadtong mga adlawa. Unya ang tawo nga nakapatay nga wala gituyo mamahimo na nga mobalik sa iyang kaugalingon nga lungsod ug sa iyang kaugalingong panimalay, ngadto sa lungsod nga iyang gibiyaan.

And he shall dwell in that city, until he shall stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city from which he fled.

7 Busa gipili sa mga Israelita ang Kedes sa Galilea didto sa kabungtoran sa Neftali, ang Siquem didto sa kabungtoran sa Efraim, ug ang Kiriat Arba (sama sa Hebron) didto sa kabungtoran sa Juda.

And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.

8 Unahan sa Jordan sidlakang bahin sa Jerico, gipili nila ang Bezer didto sa kamingawan ngadto sa kapatagan gikan sa tribo ni Reuben; ang Ramot Gilead, gikan sa tribo ni Gad; ug ang Golan sa Bashan, gikan sa tribo ni Manases.

And on the other side of Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

9 Mao kini ang mga siyudad nga gipili alang sa tanan nga katawhan sa Israel ug sa mga langyaw nga nagpuyo uban kanila, aron nga ang tanan nga nakapatay ug tawo nga wala gituyo makadangop kanila nga layo sa kadaot. Kini nga tawo dili mamatay pinaagi sa kamot sa tawo nga gusto manimalos sa dugo nga naula, hangtod nga ang gipasanginlan nga tawo mobarog na pag-una sa atubangan sa panagtigom.

These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger sojourning among them, that whoever should kill any person unintentionally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
