1 ১ আরোহণ গীত। শলোমনের। যদি সদাপ্রভুু গৃহ তৈরী না করেন, তারা বৃথাই কাজ করে, যারা তা তৈরী করে। যদি সদাপ্রভুু শহর পাহারা না দেন, পাহারাদার বৃথাই দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে।

Except YHWH build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except YHWH keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 ২ এটা বৃথা যদি তোমরা ভোরে উঠ, দেরীতে বাড়ি আস অথবা পরিশ্রমের খাবার খাও কারণ সদাপ্রভু তাঁর প্রিয়পাত্রকে ঘুমের মধ্যে এইরকম দেন।

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 ৩ দেখ শিশুরা সদাপ্রভুুর থেকে পাওয়া অধিকার, গর্ভেরফল তাঁর থেকে পাওয়া পুরষ্কার।

Lo, children are an heritage of YHWH: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 ৪ যেমন সৈনিকের হাতে বান, সেরকম যৌবনের সন্তানরা।

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 ৫ ধন্য সেই মানুষ, যার তূন এরকম বানে পূর্ণ; তারা লজ্জিত হবে না, যখন তারা দরজায় শত্রুদের সঙ্গে মুখোমুখি হয়।

Joyful is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
