হিতোপদেশ 7

1 ১ আমার পুত্র, আমার কথা সব পালন কর, আমার আদেশ সব তোমার কাছে সঞ্চয় কর।

My son! keep my sayings, And my commands lay up with thee.

2 ২ আমার আদেশ সব পালন কর, জীবন পাবে এবং চোখের তারার মত আমার ব্যবস্থা রক্ষা কর;

Keep my commands, and live, And my law as the pupil of thine eye.

3 ৩ তোমার আঙ্গুলে সেগুলো বেঁধে রাখ, তোমার হৃদয় ফলকে তা লিখে রাখ।

Bind them on thy fingers, Write them on the tablet of thy heart.

4 ৪ প্রজ্ঞাকে বল, “তুমি আমার বোন এবং সুবিবেচনাকে তোমার সখী বল,”

Say to wisdom, 'My sister Thou [art].' And cry to understanding, 'Kinswoman!'

5 ৫ তাতে তুমি পরস্ত্রী থেকে রক্ষা পাবে, ব্যাভিচারিনীর স্বছন্দ শব্দ থেকে রক্ষা পাবে।

To preserve thee from a strange woman, From a stranger who hath made smooth her sayings.

6 ৬ আমি নিজের ঘরের জানালা থেকে জালি দিয়ে দেখছিলাম;

For, at a window of my house, Through my casement I have looked out,

7 ৭ নির্বোধদের মধ্যে আমার চোখ পড়ল, আমি যুবকদের মধ্যে এক জনকে দেখলাম, সে বুদ্ধিহীন যুবক।

And I do see among the simple ones, I discern among the sons, A young man lacking understanding,

8 ৮ সে গলিতে গেল, ঐ স্ত্রীর কোণের কাছে আসল, তার বাড়ীর পথে চলল।

Passing on in the street, near her corner, And the way [to] her house he doth step,

9 ৯ তখন সন্ধ্যাবেলা, দিন শেষ হয়েছিল, রাত অন্ধকার হয়েছিল।

In the twilight — in the evening of day, In the darkness of night and blackness.

10 ১০ তখন দেখ, এক স্ত্রী তার সামনে আসল, সে বেশ্যার পোশাক পরেছিল ও অভিসন্ধির হৃদয় ছিল;

And, lo, a woman to meet him — (A harlot's dress, and watchful of heart,

11 ১১ সে ঝগড়াটে ও অবাধ্যা, তার পা ঘরে থাকে না;

Noisy she [is], and stubborn, In her house her feet rest not.

12 ১২ সে কখনও সড়কে, কখনও রাস্তায়, কোণে কোণে অপেক্ষা করতে থাকে।

Now in an out-place, now in broad places, And near every corner she lieth in wait) —

13 ১৩ সে তাকে ধরে চুমু খেল, নির্লজ্জ মুখে তাকে বলল,

And she laid hold on him, and kissed him, She hath hardened her face, and saith to him,

14 ১৪ আমাকে মঙ্গলের জন্য বলিদান করতে হয়েছে, আজ আমি নিজের মানত পূর্ণ করেছি;

'Sacrifices of peace-offerings [are] by me, To-day I have completed my vows.

15 ১৫ তাই তোমার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে বাইরে এসেছি, সযত্নে তোমার মুখ দেখতে এসেছি, তোমাকে পেয়েছি।

Therefore I have come forth to meet thee, To seek earnestly thy face, and I find thee.

16 ১৬ আমি খাটে বুটাদার চাদর পেতেছি, মিশরের সূতোর্ চিত্রবিচিত্র পর্দার কাপড় লাগিয়েছি।

[With] ornamental coverings I decked my couch, Carved works — cotton of Egypt.

17 ১৭ আমি গন্ধরস, অগুরু ও দারুচিনি দিয়ে নিজের বিছানা গন্ধে ভরিয়ে দিয়েছি।

I sprinkled my bed — myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 ১৮ চল, আমরা সকাল পর্যন্ত কামরসে মত্ত হই, আমরা প্রেমের বাহুল্যে আমোদ করি।

Come, we are filled [with] loves till the morning, We delight ourselves in loves.

19 ১৯ কারণ কর্তা ঘরে নেই, তিনি দূরে গেছেন;

For the man is not in his house, He hath gone on a long journey.

20 ২০ টাকার তোড়া সঙ্গে নিয়ে গেছেন, পূর্ণিমার দিন ঘরে আসবেন।

A bag of money he hath taken in his hand, At the day of the new moon he cometh to his house.'

21 ২১ অনেক মিষ্টি কথায় সে তার মন চুরি করল, ঠোটের চাটুকরিতে তাকে আকর্ষণ করল।

She turneth him aside with the abundance of her speech, With the flattery of her lips she forceth him.

22 ২২ তখনি সে তার পেছনে গেল, যেমন গরু মরতে যায়, যেমন শেকলে বাঁধা ব্যক্তি বকর শাস্তি পেতে যায়;

He is going after her straightway, As an ox unto the slaughter he cometh, And as a fetter unto the chastisement of a fool,

23 ২৩ শেষে তার যকৃত বানে বিধল; যেমন পাখি ফাঁদে পড়তে বেগে ধাবিত হয়, আর জানে না যে, তার জীবন বিপদগ্রস্ত।

Till an arrow doth split his liver, As a bird hath hastened unto a snare, And hath not known that it [is] for its life.

24 ২৪ এখন আমার পুত্ররা, আমার কথা শোন, আমার মুখের কথায় মন দাও।

And now, ye sons, hearken to me, And give attention to sayings of my mouth.

25 ২৫ তোমার মন ওর পথে না যাক, তুমি ওর পথে যেও না।

Let not thy heart turn unto her ways, Do not wander in her paths,

26 ২৬ কারণ সে অনেককে আঘাত করে মেরে ফেলেছে, তারা গণনা করতে পারবে না।

For many [are] the wounded she caused to fall, And mighty [are] all her slain ones.

27 ২৭ তার ঘর পাতালের পথ, যে পথ মৃত্যুর কক্ষে নেমে যায়। (Sheol h7585)

The ways of Sheol — her house, Going down unto inner chambers of death! (Sheol h7585)
