গণনার বই 21
1 ১ যখন নেগেভ প্রদেশে বসবাসী কনান বংশের অরাদের রাজা শুনতে পেলেন যে, ইস্রায়েল অথারীমের পথ দিয়ে আসছে; তখন তিনি ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করলেন ও তাদের কতকগুলি লোকেকে ধরে বন্দি করলেন।
The Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled], the king of Arad, who lived in the South, sh'ma ·heard obeyed· that Israel [God prevails] came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel [God prevails], and took some of them captive.
2 ২ তাতে ইস্রায়েল সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে মানত করে বলল, “যদি তুমি এই লোকেদের উপর আমাদের জয়ী কর, তবে আমরা তাদের শহরগুলি সম্পূর্ণরূপে বিনষ্ট করব।”
Israel [God prevails] vowed a vow to Adonai, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
3 ৩ তখন সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের কথা শুনলেন এবং তিনি কনানীয়দের উপর তাদের বিজয়ী করলেন। তারা সম্পূর্ণভাবে তাদেরকে ও তাদের সমস্ত শহর বিনষ্ট করল এবং সেই জায়গার নাম হর্মা [বিনষ্ট] রাখল।
Adonai sh'ma ·heard obeyed· the voice of Israel [God prevails], and delivered up the Canaanites [Descendants of Humbled]; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.
4 ৪ তারা হোর পর্বত থেকে চলে গিয়ে ইদোম দেশ পাশ দিয়ে ঘোরার জন্য লাল সাগরের দিকে যাত্রা করল। পথের মধ্যে লোকেদের প্রাণ বিরক্ত হয়ে গেল।
They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Sea of Suf [Reed Sea], to go around the land of Edom [Red] The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.
5 ৫ লোকেরা ঈশ্বরের ও মোশির বিরুদ্ধে বলতে লাগল, “তোমরা কি আমাদেরকে মিশর থেকে বের করে আনলে, যেন আমরা মরুপ্রান্তে মারা যাই? রুটিও নেই, জলও নেই এবং আমরা এই হালকা খাবার ঘৃণা করি।”
The people spoke against God, and against Moses [Drawn out], “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt [Abode of slavery] to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread.”
6 ৬ তখন সদাপ্রভু লোকেদের মধ্যে বিষাক্ত সাপ পাঠালেন। তারা লোকেদেরকে কামড়ালে ইস্রায়েলের অনেক লোক মারা গেল।
Adonai sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel [God prevails] died.
7 ৭ লোকেরা মোশির কাছে এসে বলল, “সদাপ্রভুর ও তোমার বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলে আমরা পাপ করেছি। তুমি সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা কর, যেন তিনি আমাদের কাছ থেকে এইসব সাপ দূর করেন।”
The people came to Moses [Drawn out], and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Adonai, and against you. Pray to Adonai, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses [Drawn out] prayed for the people.
8 ৮ সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে বললেন, “তুমি একটি বিষাক্ত সাপ তৈরী করে পতাকার উপরে রাখ, সাপে কামড়ানো যে কোন ব্যক্তি তার দিকে দেখবে, সে বাঁচবে।”
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Make a fiery serpent, and set it up on a pole. It shall happen, that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
9 ৯ তখন মোশি পিতলের একটি সাপ তৈরী করে পতাকার উপরে রাখলেন; তাতে এইরকম হল, সাপ কোন মানুষকে কামড়ালে করলে যখন সে ঐ পিতলের সাপের দিকে তাকালো, তখন বাঁচল।
Moses [Drawn out] made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.
The children of Israel [God prevails] traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
11 ১১ ওবোৎ থেকে যাত্রা করে সূর্য্যোদয়ের দিকে মোয়াবের সামনের অবস্থিত মরুপ্রান্তে ইয়ী-অবারীমে শিবির স্থাপন করল।
They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab [From father], toward the sunrise.
From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.
13 ১৩ সেখান থেকে যাত্রা করে ইমোরীয়দের সীমানা থেকে প্রসারিত অর্ণোনের অন্য পারের মরুপ্রান্তে শিবির স্থাপন করল। কারণ মোয়াবের ও ইমোরীয়দের মাঝে অর্ণোন মোয়াবের সীমানা।
From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness, that comes out of the border of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers]: for the Arnon is the border of Moab [From father], between Moab [From father] and the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers].
Therefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Adonai, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,
the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab [From father].”
16 ১৬ সেখান থেকে তারা বের [কূপ] নামক স্থানে আসল। এ সেই কুয়ো, যার বিষয়ে সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে বললেন, “তুমি লোকদেরকে জড়ো কর, আমি তাদেরকে জল দেব।”
From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
Then Israel [God prevails] sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,
18 ১৮ এ শাসনকর্ত্তাদের খনন করা কুয়ো, রাজদণ্ড ও নিজেদের লাঠি দিয়ে লোকেদের অভিজাতরা এটা খনন করেছেন।” পরে তারা মরুভূমি থেকে মত্তানায় ও
the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;
and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;
and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab [From father], to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.
Israel [God prevails] sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers], saying,
22 ২২ “তোমার দেশের মধ্যে দিয়ে আমাকে যেতে দাও; আমরা পথ ছেড়ে শস্যক্ষেতে কিংবা আঙ্গুরক্ষেতে ঢুকবো না, কুয়োর জলও পান করব না; যতদিন তোমার সীমানা পার না হই, ততদিন রাজপথ দিয়ে যাব।”
“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn aside into field, or into vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”
23 ২৩ কিন্তু সীহোনের রাজা তার সীমানা দিয়ে ইস্রায়েলকে যেতে দিল না; পরিবর্তে সীহোনের রাজা তার সমস্ত প্রজাকে জড়ো করে ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে মরুপ্রান্তে বের হল এবং যহসে উপস্থিত হয়ে ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করল।
Sihon would not allow Israel [God prevails] to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel [God prevails] into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel [God prevails].
24 ২৪ তাতে ইস্রায়েল তরোয়াল দিয়ে তাকে আঘাত করে অর্ণোন থেকে যব্বোক পর্যন্ত অর্থাৎ অম্মোন সন্তানদের কাছ পর্যন্ত তার দেশ অধিকার করল; কারণ অম্মোন সন্তানদের সীমানা সুরক্ষিত ছিল।
Israel [God prevails] struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon [Tribal people]; for the border of the children of Ammon [Tribal people] was strong.
25 ২৫ ইস্রায়েল ঐ সমস্ত শহর দখল করল এবং ইস্রায়েল ইমোরীয়দের সমস্ত শহরে, হিষ্বোনে ও সেখানকার সমস্ত গ্রামে, বাস করতে লাগল।
Israel [God prevails] took all these cities. Israel [God prevails] lived in all the cities of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers], in Heshbon, and in all its villages.
26 ২৬ কারণ হিষ্বোন ইমোরীয়দের রাজা সীহোনের শহর ছিল; তিনি মোয়াবের আগের রাজার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করে তার হাত থেকে অর্ণোন পর্যন্ত তার সমস্ত দেশ নিয়েছিলেন।
For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers], who had fought against the former king of Moab [From father], and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.
Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;
28 ২৮ কারণ হিষ্বোন থেকে আগুন, সীহোনের শহর থেকে আগুনের শিখা বের হয়েছে; তা মোয়াবের আর্ শহরকে, অর্ণোনের অধিপতি নাথদেরকে গিলে ফেলেছে।
for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab [From father], The lords of the high places of the Arnon.
29 ২৯ হে মোয়াব, ধিক্ তোমাকে! হে কমোশের প্রজারা, তোমরা বিনষ্ট হলে! সে তার ছেলেদেরকে পলাতক হিসাবে, তার মেয়েদেরকে বন্দি হিসাবে তুলে দিল, ইমোরীয়দের রাজা সীহোনের হাতে।
Woe to you, Moab [From father]! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers].
30 ৩০ আমরা তাদেরকে বাণ মেরেছি; হিষ্বোন দীবোন পর্যন্ত বিনষ্ট হয়েছি; আর আমরা নোফঃ পর্যন্ত ধ্বংস করেছি, যেটা মেদবা পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত।”
We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”
Thus Israel [God prevails] lived in the land of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers].
32 ৩২ তখন মোশি যাসের অনুসন্ধান করতে লোক পাঠালেন, আর তারা সেখানকার গ্রামগুলি দখল করল এবং সেখানে যে ইমোরীয়েরা ছিল, তাদেরকে অধিকারচ্যুত করল।
Moses [Drawn out] sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers] who were there.
33 ৩৩ তখন তারা ফিরে বাশনের পথ দিয়ে উঠে গেল; তাতে বাশনের রাজা ওগ ও তার সমস্ত প্রজা বের হয়ে তাদের সঙ্গে ইদ্রিয়ীতে যুদ্ধ করতে গেল।
They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
34 ৩৪ তখন সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে বললেন, “তুমি এদের থেকে ভয় পেয় না, কারণ আমি এর উপর তোমাকে জয়ী করেছি, এর সমস্ত প্রজা ও এর দেশকে। তুমি হিষ্বোন-বাসী ইমোরীয়দের রাজা সীহোনের প্রতি যেমন করলে, এদের প্রতি সেই রকম করবে।”
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers], who lived at Heshbon.”
35 ৩৫ সুতরাং তারা তাকে, তার ছেলেদেরকে, তার সৈন্যদেরকে হত্যা করল, তাদের কেউ জীবিত ছিল না। তখন তার দেশ অধিকার করে নিল।
So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
