গণনার বই 17

1 ১ সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে বললেন,

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2 ২ “তুমি ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের বলে তাদের পূর্বপুরুষ অনুসারে সমস্ত নেতার থেকে এক একটি গোষ্ঠীর জন্য এক একটি লাঠি, এই ভাবে বারোটি লাঠি গ্রহণ কর; প্রত্যেকের লাঠিতে তার নাম লেখ।

Speak to the children of Israel, and take rods of them, according to the houses of their families, a rod from all their princes, according to the houses of their families, twelve rods, and write the name of each on his rod.

3 ৩ লেবির লাঠিতে হারোণের নাম লেখ; কারণ তাদের এক একটি পূর্বপুরুষের জন্য এক একটি লাঠি হবে।

And write the name of Aaron on the rod of Levi; for it is one rod [for each]: they shall give [them] according to the tribe of the house of their families.

4 ৪ সমাগম তাঁবুতে যে স্থানে আমি তোমাদের সঙ্গে দেখা করি, সেই স্থানে সাক্ষ্য সিন্দুকের সামনে সেগুলি রাখবে।

And thou shalt put them in the tabernacle of witness, before the testimony, where I will be made known to thee.

5 ৫ এইরকম হবে, যে ব্যক্তি আমার মনোনীত, তার লাঠিতে কুঁড়ি হবে, তাতে ইস্রায়েল সন্তানরা তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যে যে অভিযোগ করে, সেটা আমি নিজের কাছ থেকে বন্ধ করব।”

And it shall be, the man whom I shall choose, his rod shall blossom; and I will remove from me the murmuring of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.

6 ৬ সুতরাং মোশি ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের এইসব বললে তাদের বংশের নেতারা তাদের পূর্বপুরুষ অনুসারে এক একটি নেতার জন্য এক একটি লাঠি, এই ভাবে বারোটি লাঠি, তাকে দিলেন এবং হারোণের লাঠি তাদের লাঠিগুলির মধ্যে ছিল।

And Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and all their chiefs gave him a rod [each], for one chief a rod, according to the house of their families, twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron [was] in the midst of the rods.

7 ৭ তখন মোশি ঐ সমস্ত যষ্টি নিয়ে সাক্ষ্য তাঁবুতে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে রাখলেন।

And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness.

8 ৮ পরের দিন মোশি সাক্ষ্য তাঁবুতে প্রবেশ করলেন, আর দেখ, লেবি বংশের জন্য হারোণের লাঠি অঙ্কুর বের হয়ে, কুঁড়ি ধরে ও ফুল হয়ে বাদাম ফল ধরেছে।

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi blossomed, and put forth a bud, and bloomed blossoms and produced almonds.

9 ৯ তখন মোশি সদাপ্রভুর সামনে থেকে ঐ সব লাঠি বের করে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল সন্তানের সাক্ষাৎে আনলেন এবং তারা সেটা দেখে প্রত্যেকে নিজেদের লাঠি গ্রহণ করলেন।

And Moses brought forth all the rods from before the Lord to all the sons of Israel; and they looked, and each one took his rod.

10 ১০ সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে বললেন, “তুমি হারোণের লাঠি আবার সাক্ষ্য সিন্দুকের সামনে রাখ, এটা লোকেদের অপরাধের বিরুদ্ধে একটি চিহ্ন হিসাবে রাখ যারা বিদ্রোহ করেছে, সুতরাং অভিযোগ শেষ কর, যেন এরা না মরে।”

And the Lord said to Moses, Lay up the rod of Aaron before the testimonies to be kept as a sign for the children of the disobedient; and let their murmuring cease from me, and they shall not die.

11 ১১ মোশি তাই করলেন; সদাপ্রভু তাঁকে যেরকম আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন, তিনি সেই রকম করলেন।

And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded Moses, so did they.

12 ১২ ইস্রায়েল সন্তানরা মোশিকে বলল, “দেখ, আমরা এখানে মারা যাব। আমরা সবাই বিনষ্ট হব!

And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, Behold, we are cut off, we are destroyed, we are consumed.

13 ১৩ যে কেউ কাছে যায়, সদাপ্রভুর সমাগম তাঁবুর কাছে যায়, সেই মারা যাবে। আমরা কি সবাই মারা পড়ব?”

Every one that touches the tabernacle of the Lord, dies: shall we die utterly?
