মথি 4

1 ১ তখন যীশু শয়তানের মাধ্যমে পরীক্ষিত হবার জন্য, পবিত্র আত্মার মাধ্যমে মরূপ্রান্তে এলেন।

Then Jesus was led up into the desert by the Spirit, to be tempted by the devil.

2 ২ আর তিনি চল্লিশ দিন রাত উপবাস থেকে শেষে ক্ষুধিত হলেন।

And after he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he became hungry,

3 ৩ তখন পরীক্ষক কাছে এসে তাঁকে বললেন, “তুমি যদি ঈশ্বরের পুত্র হও, তবে বল, যেন এই পাথরগুলো রুটি হয়ে যায়।”

So the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, bid these stones to become bread."

4 ৪ কিন্তু তিনি উত্তর করে বললেন, “লেখা আছে, মানুষ শুধুমাত্র রুটিতে বাঁচবে না, কিন্তু ঈশ্বরের মুখ থেকে যে প্রত্যেক কথা বের হয়, তাতেই বাঁচবে।”

Jesus answered him, "It is written, Not by bread alone shall man live, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God."

5 ৫ তখন শয়তান তাঁকে পবিত্র শহরে নিয়ে গেল এবং ঈশ্বরের মন্দিরের চূড়ার উপরে দাঁড় করাল,

Then the devil took him up into the Holy City and stood him on the parapet of the temple,

6 ৬ আর তাকে বলল “তুমি যদি ঈশ্বরের পুত্র হও, তবে নীচে ঝাঁপ দিয়ে পড়, কারণ লেখা আছে, তিনি নিজের দূতদের তোমার বিষয়ে আদেশ দেবেন, আর তাঁরা তোমাকে হাতে করে তুলে নেবেন, যদি তোমার পায়ে পাথরের আঘাত লাগে।”

and said to him. "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, "He will give his angels charge over thee; Upon their hands they will bear thee up, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."

7 ৭ যীশু তাকে বললেন, “আবার এও লেখা আছে, তুমি নিজের ঈশ্বর প্রভুর পরীক্ষা করো না।”

"It is written again," answered Jesus, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

8 ৮ আবার শয়তান তাঁকে অনেক উঁচু এক পর্বতে নিয়ে গেল এবং পৃথিবীর সব রাজ্য ও সেই সবের ঐশ্বর্য্য দেখাল,

Then the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain, and showed all the kingdoms of the earth and the glory of them,

9 ৯ আর তাঁকে বলল, “তুমি যদি উপুড় হয়ে আমাকে প্রণাম কর, এই সবই আমি তোমাকে দেব।”

and said to him, "All these will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me."

10 ১০ তখন যীশু তাকে বললেন, “দূর হও, শয়তান কারণ লেখা আছে, তোমার ঈশ্বর প্রভুকেই প্রণাম করবে, কেবল তাঁরই আরাধনা করবে।”

"Begone, Satan!" answered Jesus, "for it is written, "Thou must worship the Lord thy God, and Him only must thou serve."

11 ১১ তখন শয়তান তাঁকে ছেড়ে চলে গেল, আর দেখ, দূতেরা কাছে এসে তাঁর সেবা করতে লাগলেন।

Then the devil left him, and behold! angels came and began ministering to him.

12 ১২ পরে যোহন গ্রেপ্তার হয়ে কারাগারে আছেন শুনে, তিনি গালীলে চলে গেলেন;

Now when Jesus heard that Johnhad been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee.

13 ১৩ আর নাসরৎ ছেড়ে সমুদ্রতীরে, সবূলূন ও নপ্তালির অঞ্চলে অবস্থিত কফরনাহূমে গিয়ে বাস করলেন;

He left Nazareth, and settled in Capernaum-by-the-Lake, near the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali,

14 ১৪ যেন যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর মাধ্যমে বলা এই কথা পূর্ণ হয়,

in order that these words spoken through Isaiah the prophet, might be fulfilled.

15 ১৫ “সবূলূন দেশ ও নপ্তালি দেশ, সমুদ্রের পথে, যর্দ্দনের অন্য পারে অযিহুদিদের গালীল,

Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali; The road by the Lake; the country beyond Jordan; Galilee of the Gentiles!

16 ১৬ যে জাতি অন্ধকারে বসেছিল, তারা মহা আলো দেখতে পেল, যারা মৃত্যুর দেশে ও ছায়াতে বসেছিল, তাদের উপরে আলোর উদয় হল।”

The people who were dwelling in darkness Have seen a great light; And on those who were dwelling in the land of the shadows of death Light has dawned.

17 ১৭ সেই থেকে যীশু প্রচার করতে শুরু করলেন; বলতে লাগলেন, মন পরিবর্তন কর, কারণ স্বর্গরাজ্য কাছাকাছি হল।

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near."

18 ১৮ একদিন যীশু গালীল সমুদ্রের তীর দিয়ে বেড়াতে বেড়াতে দেখলেন, দুই ভাই, শিমোন, যাকে পিতর বলে ও তার ভাই আন্দ্রিয় সমুদ্রে জাল ফেলছেন; কারণ তাঁরা জেলে ছিলেন।

And as he was walking by the see of Galilee, he saw two brothers- Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother-casting their net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

19 ১৯ তিনি তাঁদের বললেন, “আমার সঙ্গে এস। আমি তোমাদের মানুষ ধরা শেখাব।”

"Come, follow me," said Jesus, "And I will make you fishers of men."

20 ২০ আর সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই তাঁরা জাল ফেলে দিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে গেলেন।

And they dropped their nets at once, and followed him.

21 ২১ পরে তিনি সেখান থেকে আগে গিয়ে দেখলেন, আর দুই ভাই সিবদিয়ের পুত্র যাকোব ও তাঁর ভাই যোহন নিজেদের বাবা সিবদিয়ের সাথে নৌকায় বসে জাল ঠিক করছিলেন; তিনি তাঁদের ডাকলেন।

As he went farther on he saw two other brothers, Jamesthe son of Zebedee, and Johnhis brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.

22 ২২ আর তখনই তাঁরা নৌকা ও নিজেদের বাবাকে পরিত্যাগ করে তাঁর অনুসরণ করলেন।

They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

23 ২৩ পরে যীশু সমস্ত গালীলে ঘুরে বেড়াতে লাগলেন; তিনি লোকদের সমাজঘরে, সমাজঘরে শিক্ষা দিলেন ও রাজ্যের সুসমাচার প্রচার করলেন এবং লোকদের সব রকম রোগ ও সব রকম অসুখ ভালো করলেন।

Then Jesus went about through Galilee, teaching in the synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and infirmity among the people.

24 ২৪ আর তাঁর কথা সমস্ত সুরিয়া অঞ্চলে ছড়িয়ে পড়ল এবং নানা প্রকার রোগ ও ব্যাধিতে হয়েছে এমন সমস্ত অসুস্থ লোক, ভূতগ্রস্ত, মৃগীরোগী ও পক্ষাঘাতী লোক সবাই, তাঁর কাছে এলো, আর তিনি তাদের সুস্থ করলেন।

And his fame spread throughout all Syria. They brought all the sick to him, those who were suffering from various diseases and troubles- demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics-and he healed them.

25 ২৫ আর গালীল থেকে, দিকাপলি, যিরুশালেম, যিহূদিয়া ও যর্দ্দনের অন্য পাড় থেকে প্রচুর লোক তাঁকে অনুসরণ করল।

Great crowds followed him from Galilee, from the ten towns, from Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond Jordan.
