1 ১ এখন যারা আমার থেকে ছোট, তাদের কাছে আমার জন্য উপহাস ছাড়া কিছুই নেই আমি তাদের পিতাদের আমার পালরক্ষা করা কুকুরদের সঙ্গে কাজ করার অনুমতি দিতাম না।

“And now, laughed at me, Have the younger in days than I, Whose fathers I have loathed to set With the dogs of my flock.

2 ২ সত্যি, তাদের পিতাদের হাতের শক্তি, কীভাবে আমায় সাহায্য করতে পারে লোকেদের শক্তি তাদের প্রাপ্ত বয়েসে ধ্বংস হয়ে গেছে?

Also—the power of their hands, why [is it] to me? On them old age has perished.

3 ৩ তারা দারিদ্রতায় এবং খিদেয় রোগা হয়ে গেছে; তারা প্রান্তরের অন্ধকারে এবং নির্জনতায় শুকনো মাটি চিবোত।

With want and with harsh famine, They are gnawing a dry place [in] the recent night, [In] desolation and ruin,

4 ৪ তারা লতা জাতীয় শাক এবং ঝোপের পাতা তুলত; গুল্ম জাতীয় গাছের শিকড় তাদের খাবার ছিল।

Those cropping mallows near a shrub, And their food [is] root of broom trees.

5 ৫ তারা লোকেদের মধ্যে থেকে বিতাড়িত হয়েছিল, যারা তাদের পিছনে চিত্কার করত যেমন একজন চোরের পিছনে চিত্কার করে।

They are cast out from the midst (They shout against them as a thief),

6 ৬ তাই তাদের নদীর তীরে বাস করতে হত, মাটির গর্তে এবং পাথরের গুহায় বাস করতে হত।

To dwell in a frightful place of valleys, Holes of earth and clefts.

7 ৭ ঝোপের মধ্যে তারা গাধার মত আওয়াজ করত; ঝোপের নিচে তারা একসঙ্গে জড়ো হত।

They groan among shrubs, They are gathered together under nettles.

8 ৮ সত্যি, তারা মূর্খদের বংশধর, বেকার লোকেদের বংশধর; তারা চাবুকের আঘাতে দেশ থেকে বিতাড়িত হয়েছিল।

Sons of folly—even sons without name, They have been struck from the land.

9 ৯ কিন্তু এখন, আমি তাদের ছেলেদের জন্য উপহাসের গানের বিষয় হয়েছি; সত্যি, আমি এখন তাদের কাছে একটা মজার বিষয়।

And now, I have been their song, And I am to them for a byword.

10 ১০ তারা আমায় ঘৃণা করে এবং আমার থেকে দূরে দাঁড়ায়; তাদের আমার মুখে থুতু দিতে আটকায় না।

They have detested me, They have kept far from me, And from before me have not spared to spit.

11 ১১ কারণ ঈশ্বর আমার ধনুকের দড়ি খুলে দিতেন এবং আমায় কষ্ট দিতেন এবং তাই এই লোকেরা আমার সামনে তাদের সমস্ত আত্মসংযম হারাত।

Because He loosed His cord and afflicts me, And the bridle from before me, They have cast away.

12 ১২ আমার দক্ষিণে বিশৃঙ্খল জনতা ওঠে; তারা আমায় তাড়িয়ে দেয় এবং আমার বিরুদ্ধে তাদের ধ্বংসের পথ উঁচু করে তোলে।

A brood arises on the right hand, They have cast away my feet, And they raise up against me, Their paths of calamity.

13 ১৩ তারা আমার পথ ধ্বংস করে; তারা আমার জন্য দুর্যোগ নিয়ে আসে, সেই লোকেদের এমন কেউ নেই যে তাদের ধরে রাখতে পারে।

They have broken down my path, They profit by my calamity: He has no helper.

14 ১৪ তারা শহরের দেওয়ালের বড় ফাটল দিয়ে সৈন্যদলের মত আমার বিরুদ্ধে আসে; বিনাশের মধ্যে তারা আমার ওপর গড়িয়ে পড়ে।

They come as a wide breach, Under the desolation have rolled themselves.

15 ১৫ আতঙ্ক আমার ওপরে আসে; আমার সম্মান বাতাসের মত উড়ে গেছে; আমার সমৃদ্ধি মেঘের মত দূর হয়েছে।

He has turned terrors against me, It pursues my abundance as the wind, And as a thick cloud, My safety has passed away.

16 ১৬ এখন আমার প্রাণ আমার মধ্যে ঢালা হচ্ছে; অনেক দুঃখের দিন আমাকে আকঁড়ে ধরে রেখেছে।

And now, in me my soul pours itself out, Days of affliction seize me.

17 ১৭ রাতে আমার হাড় যন্ত্রণায় ক্লিষ্ট হয়; সেই ব্যথা যা আমায় কখন বিশ্রাম নেয় না।

[At] night my bone has been pierced in me, And my gnawing [pain] does not lie down.

18 ১৮ ঈশ্বরের মহা শক্তি আমার পরিচ্ছদ ছিনিয়ে নেন; জামার গলার মত এটা আমায় চারিদিক দিয়ে জড়ায়।

By the abundance of power, Is my clothing changed, As the mouth of my coat it girds me.

19 ১৯ তিনি আমায় কাদায় ছুঁড়ে ফেলেন; আমি ধূলো ও ছাইয়ে মত হয়ে পড়ি।

Casting me into mire, And I have become like dust and ashes.

20 ২০ হে ঈশ্বর, আমি তোমার কাছে কাঁদি, কিন্তু তুমি আমায় উত্তর দাও না; আমি দাঁড়ায়ে থাকি এবং তুমি নামমাত্র আমাকে দেখ।

I cry to You, And You do not answer me, I have stood, and You consider me.

21 ২১ তুমি পরিবর্তিত হয়েছ এবং আমার প্রতি নিষ্ঠুর হয়েছ; তোমার হাতের শক্তিতে তুমি আমায় অত্যাচার করেছ।

You are turned to be fierce to me, With the strength of Your hand, You oppress me.

22 ২২ তুমি বাতাসে আমাকে তুলেছ এবং আমায় উড়িয়ে নিয়ে গেছ; তুমি আমায় ঝড়ে বিলীন করেছ।

You lift me up, You cause me to ride on the wind, And You melt—You level me.

23 ২৩ কারণ আমি জানি যে তুমি আমায় মৃত্যুর সম্মুখে নিয়ে যাচ্ছ, সেই পূর্ব্ব নির্ধারিত ঘরে যা সমস্ত জীবিত বস্তুর জন্য নিরূপিত আছে।

For I have known You bring me back [to] death, And [to] the house appointed for all living.

24 ২৪ যাইহোক, যখন সে পড়ে তখন কি সে তার হাত বাড়ায় না সাহায্যের জন্য অথবা বিপদে কি সে চিত্কার করে না?

Surely not against the heap Does He send forth the hand, Though they have safety in its ruin.

25 ২৫ আমি কি তার জন্য কাঁদি নি যে বিপদের মধ্যে ছিল? আমার হৃদয় কি দরিদ্রের জন্য দুঃখ করে নি?

Did I not weep for him whose day is hard? My soul has grieved for the needy.

26 ২৬ যখন আমি ভাল খুঁজতাম, তখন মন্দ আসত; যখন আমি আলোর জন্য অপেক্ষা করি, পরিবর্তে অন্ধকার আসে।

When I expected good, then comes evil, And I wait for light, and darkness comes.

27 ২৭ যখন আমার হৃদয় অস্থির এবং তার বিশ্রাম নেই; কষ্টের দিন আমার ওপরে আসে।

My bowels have boiled, and have not ceased, Days of affliction have gone before me.

28 ২৮ আমি বিনা রৌদ্রে ধীরে ধীরে কালো হয়ে যাচ্ছি, আমি সমাজে দাঁড়াই এবং সাহায্যের জন্য চিত্কার করি।

I have gone mourning without the sun, I have risen, I cry in an assembly.

29 ২৯ আমি শিয়ালের ভাই, উঠ পাখিদের সঙ্গী হয়ে গেছি।

I have been a brother to dragons, And a companion to daughters of the ostrich.

30 ৩০ আমার চামড়া কালো এবং তা খসে পড়ছে; আমার হাড়গুলো তাপে পুড়ে গেছে।

My skin has been black on me, And my bone has burned from heat,

31 ৩১ এই জন্য, আমার বীণার শব্দ যেন হাহাকারের সুর, আমার সানাইয়ের সুর যেন বিলাপের গান।

And my harp becomes mourning, And my pipe the sound of weeping.”
