ইয়োবের বিবরণ 15

1 ১ তারপর তৈমনীয় ইলীফস উত্তর দিলেন এবং বললেন,

Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

2 ২ “একজন জ্ঞানী ব্যক্তি কি অকার্যকর জ্ঞানে উত্তর দেবে এবং নিজেকে পূর্বীয় বাতাসে পূর্ণ করবে?

Should a wise man make answer with vain knowledge, And fill himself with the east wind?

3 ৩ সে কি মূল্যহীন কথায় তর্ক করবে অথবা কথা দিয়ে সে কোন ভাল কাজ করতে পারে?

Should he reason with unprofitable talk, Or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

4 ৪ সত্যি, তুমি ঈশ্বরের প্রতি সম্মান কমিয়ে দিয়েছ; তুমি তাঁর উপাসনা বন্ধ করেছ,

Yea, thou doest away with fear, And hinderest devotion before God.

5 ৫ কারণ তোমার পাপ তোমার মুখকে শিক্ষা দেয়; তুমি ধূর্ততার জিভ বেছে নিয়েছ।

For thine iniquity teacheth thy mouth, And thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

6 ৬ তোমার নিজের মুখ তোমায় দোষী করে, আমি নই, সত্যি, তোমার নিজের ঠোঁট তোমার বিরুদ্ধে সাক্ষ্য দেয়।

Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; Yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

7 ৭ তুমি কি সেই প্রথম মানুষ যে জন্মেছিল? পাহাড়ের আগে কি তোমার অস্তিত্ব ছিল?

Art thou the first man that was born? Or wast thou brought forth before the hills?

8 ৮ তুমি কি ঈশ্বরের গোপন জ্ঞানের কথা শুনেছ? তুমি কি তোমার জন্য জ্ঞানকে সীমিত করেছ?

Hast thou heard the secret counsel of God? And dost thou limit wisdom to thyself?

9 ৯ তুমি কি জান যা আমরা জানি না? তুমি কি বোঝো যা আমরা বুঝি না?

What knowest thou, that we know not? What understandest thou, which is not in us?

10 ১০ আমাদের সঙ্গে পাকাচুল এবং বৃদ্ধ লোকেরা দুই আছেন, যারা তোমার বাবার থেকেও বৃদ্ধ।

With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, Much elder than thy father.

11 ১১ ঈশ্বরের সান্ত্বনা কি তোমার জন্য খুব সামান্য, এমনকি সেই বাক্য তোমার প্রতি কোমল?

Are the consolations of God too small for thee, Even the word that is gentle toward thee?

12 ১২ কেন তোমার হৃদয় তোমাকে বিপথে নিয়ে যায়? কেন তোমার চোখ মিটমিট করে,

Why doth thy heart carry thee away? And why do thine eyes flash,

13 ১৩ যাতে তুমি তোমার আত্মা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে ফেরাও এবং তোমার মুখ সেই ধরনের কথা বার করে

That against God thou turnest thy spirit, And lettest words go out of thy mouth?

14 ১৪ মানুষ কি যে, সে পবিত্র হতে পারে? যে একজন মহিলার থেকে জন্মেছে সে কে যে সে ধার্মিক হতে পারে?

What is man, that he should be clean? And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

15 ১৫ দেখ, ঈশ্বর এমনকি তাঁর পবিত্র লোকেও বিশ্বাস রাখে না; সত্যি, আকাশও তাঁর দৃষ্টিতে পরিষ্কার নয়;

Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones; Yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight:

16 ১৬ সেই ব্যক্তি কত বেশি না জঘন্য এবং দুর্নীতিগ্রস্থ, একজন লোক যে জলের মত অপরাধ পান করে!

How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, A man that drinketh iniquity like water!

17 ১৭ আমি তোমায় দেখাব; আমার কথা শোন; আমি যা দেখেছি তা তোমায় ঘোষণা করবে,

I will show thee, hear thou me; And that which I have seen I will declare

18 ১৮ সেই বিষয় যা জ্ঞানী লোকেরা তাদের বাবার থেকে পেয়েছে, সেই বিষয় যা তাদের পূর্ব্বপুরুষেরা গোপন রাখে নি।

(Which wise men have told From their fathers, and have not hid it;

19 ১৯ এরাই তাদের পূর্বপুরুষ ছিল, যাদেরকে শুধু এই দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে এবং যাদের মধ্যে কোন বিদেশী লোক ছিল না।

Unto whom alone the land was given, And no stranger passed among them):

20 ২০ পাপী লোক সারা জীবন ব্যথায় কষ্ট পায়, অত্যাচারীদের বছরের সংখ্যা তার দুঃখভোগের জন্য রাখা আছে।

The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, Even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.

21 ২১ আতঙ্কের শব্দ তার কানে আছে; তার উন্নতির দিনের, ধ্বংসকারী তার ওপরে আসবে।

A sound of terrors is in his ears; In prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

22 ২২ সে ভাবে না যে সে অন্ধকার থেকে ফিরে আসবে; তলোয়ার তার জন্য অপেক্ষা করছে।

He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, And he is waited for of the sword.

23 ২৩ সে রুটির জন্য বিদেশে ঘুরে বেড়াবে, বলে, ‘এটা কোথায়?’ সে জানে যে অন্ধকারের দিন উপস্থিত।

He wandereth abroad for bread, [saying], Where is it? He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

24 ২৪ দুঃখ এবং যন্ত্রণা তাকে ভয় দেখায়; তারা তার বিরুদ্ধে প্রবল হয়, যেমন একজন রাজা যুদ্ধের জন্য তৈরী হয়।

Distress and anguish make him afraid; They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

25 ২৫ কারণ সে ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে হাত বাড়িয়েছে এবং সর্বশক্তিমানের বিরুদ্ধে অহঙ্কারীদের মত আচরণ করেছে,

Because he hath stretched out his hand against God, And behaveth himself proudly against the Almighty;

26 ২৬ এই পাপী একগুঁয়ে মানুষেরা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে দৌড়াছে, তারা তাদের মোটা ঢাল নিয়ে দৌড়াচ্ছে।

He runneth upon him with a [stiff] neck, With the thick bosses of his bucklers;

27 ২৭ এটা সত্যি, এমনকি যদিও সে তার মুখ চর্বি দিয়ে ঢাকত এবং তার কোমরে চর্বি জমাত,

Because he hath covered his face with his fatness, And gathered fat upon his loins;

28 ২৮ এবং জনশূন্য শহরে বাস করত, সেই সব বাড়িতে বাস করত যাতে এখন কোন মানুষ বাস করে না এবং যা ঢিবি হওয়ার জন্য তৈরী ছিল।

And he hath dwelt in desolate cities, In houses which no man inhabited, Which were ready to become heaps;

29 ২৯ সে ধনী হবে না; তার সম্পত্তি টিকবে না; এমনকি তার ছায়াও পৃথিবীতে থাকবে না।

He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, Neither shall their possessions be extended on the earth.

30 ৩০ সে অন্ধকার থেকে বেরবে না; একটা আগুন তার শাখা গুলোকে শুকিয়ে দেবে; ঈশ্বরের মুখের নিঃশ্বাসে সে চলে যাবে।

He shall not depart out of darkness; The flame shall dry up his branches, And by the breath of [God’s] mouth shall he go away.

31 ৩১ সে অকার্যকর বিষয়ে বিশ্বাস না করুক, নিজেকে ঠকাবে; কারণ অকার্যকারিতা তার পুরষ্কার হবে।

Let him not trust in vanity, deceiving himself; For vanity shall be his recompense.

32 ৩২ এটা তার মৃত্যুর আগে ঘটবে; তার শাখা সবুজ হবে না।

It shall be accomplished before his time, And his branch shall not be green.

33 ৩৩ আঙ্গুরের গাছের মত সে তার কাঁচা আঙ্গুর ঝড়াবে; জিত গাছের মত সে তার ফুল ঝড়াবে।

He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, And shall cast off his flower as the olive-tree.

34 ৩৪ কারণ অধার্মিকদের মণ্ডলী বন্ধ্যা হবে; তাদের ঘুষের তাঁবু আগুন গ্রাস করবে।

For the company of the godless shall be barren, And fire shall consume the tents of bribery.

35 ৩৫ তারা নষ্টামি গর্ভে ধারণ করে এবং অপরাধ জন্ম দেয়; তাদের গর্ভ প্রতারণা ধারণ করে।”

They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, And their heart prepareth deceit.
