1 ১ যোশিয়ের ছেলে যিহূদার রাজা যিহোয়াকীমের রাজত্বের চতুর্থ বছরে নেরিয়ের ছেলে বারূক যিরমিয়ের কাছে শুনলেন। তা তিনি গুটানো বইয়ে লিখলেন। সেটা হল,
The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
"Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:
3 ৩ তুমি বলেছ, ‘ধিক আমাকে! কারণ সদাপ্রভু আমার ব্যথার উপরে দুঃখ যোগ করেছেন; আমার আর্তনাদ আমাকে ক্লান্ত করেছে, আমি বিশ্রাম খুঁজে পাচ্ছি না’।
'You said, "Woe is me now. For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."'"
4 ৪ তুমি তাকে এই কথা অবশ্যই বল: ‘সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: দেখ, আমি যা গড়ে তুলেছি, আমি এখন তা ভেঙে ফেলব। আমি যা রোপণ করেছি, আমি তা উপড়ে ফেলব।
"You shall tell him, 'Thus says the LORD: "Look, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.
5 ৫ কিন্তু তুমি কি নিজের জন্য মহৎ জিনিস আশা করছ? সেই রকম আশা কোরো না। কারণ দেখ, সমস্ত লোকের উপরে ক্ষয়ক্ষতি আসছে’ এটা সদাপ্রভুর ঘোষণা, ‘কিন্তু তুমি যেখানেই যাবে, আমি লুটের জিনিসের মত তোমার প্রাণ তোমাকে দেব’।”
Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, look, I will bring disaster on all flesh, says the LORD; but your life will I give to you for a reward in all places where you go."'"
