যিরমিয়ের বই 24
1 ১ সদাপ্রভু আমাকে কিছু দেখালেন। দেখ, সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের সামনে দুই ঝুড়ি ডুমুর ফল রাখা। বাবিলের রাজা নবূখদনিৎসর যিহোয়াকীমের ছেলে যিহূদার রাজা যিকনিয়কে, যিহূদার রাজকর্মচারীদের, কারিগর ও কর্মকারদের যিরূশালেম থেকে বাবিলে বন্দী করে নিয়ে যাবার পরে এই দর্শন ঘটেছিল।
Jehovah shewed me, and behold, two baskets of figs, set before the temple of Jehovah, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive from Jerusalem, Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, and the craftsmen and smiths, and had brought them to Babylon.
2 ২ একটা ঝুড়ির ডুমুর ছিল খুব ভালো প্রথম পাকা ডুমুরের মত, কিন্তু অন্য ঝুড়িটি খুব খারাপ ছিল, যা খাওয়া যায় না।
One basket had very good figs, like the figs first ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten for badness.
3 ৩ সদাপ্রভু আমাকে বললেন, “যিরমিয়, তুমি কি দেখছ?” আমি বললাম, “ডুমুর; খুব ভাল ডুমুর এবং খুব খারাপ যেগুলি খাওয়া যায় না।”
And Jehovah said unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs: the good figs very good; and the bad very bad, which cannot be eaten for badness.
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
5 ৫ “সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন, আমি যিহূদার বন্দীদের মঙ্গলের জন্য তাদের দিকে লক্ষ্য রাখবো, সেই ভাল ডুমুরের মত, যাদের আমি এখান থেকে কলদীয়দের দেশে পাঠিয়েছি।
Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard for good them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans;
6 ৬ আমি তাদের মঙ্গলের জন্য তাদের উপর নজর রাখব এবং এই দেশে তাদের ফিরিয়ে আনব। আমি তাদের গড়ে তুলব, তাদের বিচ্ছিন্ন করব না। আমি তাদের রোপণ করব, তাদের উপড়ে ফেলব না।
and I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land; and I will build them and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up.
7 ৭ তখন আমি তাদের আমাকে জানবার জন্য অন্তর দেব যে, আমিই সদাপ্রভু। তারা আমার প্রজা হবে এবং আমি তাদের ঈশ্বর হব, তাই তারা তাদের সমস্ত অন্তর দিয়ে আমার কাছে ফিরে আসবে।
And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Jehovah; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
8 ৮ কিন্তু খারাপ ডুমুরগুলির মত করে, যা খেতে খুব খারাপ” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, “আমি যিহূদার রাজা সিদিকিয়, তার রাজকর্মচারী ও যিরূশালেমের অবশিষ্ট লোকেরা যারা ওই দেশে রয়ে গেছে বা মিশর দেশে বাস করছে তাদের সঙ্গে এই রকম খারাপ ব্যবহার করব।
And as the bad figs, which cannot be eaten for badness, surely, thus saith Jehovah: So will I make Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the remnant of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt.
9 ৯ আমি তাদের যেখানেই তাড়িয়ে দিই, প্রত্যেক জায়গায় তাদের ভয়ঙ্কর, পৃথিবীর সমস্ত জাতির দুর্যোগ, অসম্মানিত এবং প্রবাদ, উপহাসের পাত্র ও অভিশপ্ত করে তুলব।
And I will give them over to be driven hither and thither unto all the kingdoms of the earth for evil, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them;
10 ১০ আমি তাদের ও তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের যে দেশ দিয়েছি সেখানে যতক্ষণ না তারা একেবারে ধ্বংস হয়, আমি তাদের বিরুদ্ধে তরোয়াল, দূর্ভিক্ষ ও মহামারী পাঠাব।”
and I will send among them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, until they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
