যিরমিয়ের বই 14
This is the word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah regarding the drought,
2 ২ “যিহূদা শোক করছে, তার ফটকগুলি দুর্বল হয়ে পড়েছে। তারা দেশের জন্য শোক করছে, যিরূশালেমের জন্য তাদের কান্না আসছে।
“Let Judah mourn; let her gates fall apart. They are wailing for the land; their cries for Jerusalem are going up.
3 ৩ তাদের প্রধানেরা জলের জন্য তাদের চাকরদের পাঠায়। যখন তারা কুয়োর কাছে যায়, তারা জল পেল না। তারা সবাই ব্যর্থ হয়ে ফিরে আসে; তারা লজ্জিত ও হতাশ হয়ে মাথা ঢাকে।
Their mighty ones send out their servants for water. When they go to the trenches, they cannot find water. They all return unsuccessful; they cover their heads ashamed and dishonored.
Because of this the ground is cracked, for there is no rain in the land. The plowmen are ashamed and cover their heads.
For even the doe leaves her young in the fields and abandons them, for there is no grass.
6 ৬ বুনো গাধারা ফাঁকা সমভূমিতে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে এবং তারা শিয়ালের মত বাতাসের জন্য হাঁপায়। তাদের চোখগুলি কাজ করতে ব্যর্থ, কারণ সেখানে ঘাস নেই।”
The wild donkeys stand on the bare plains and they pant in the wind like jackals. Their eyes fail to work, for there is no vegetation.”
7 ৭ যদিও আমাদের পাপ আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে সাক্ষ্য দেয়, হে সদাপ্রভু, তবুও তোমার নামের জন্য কিছু কর। কারণ আমাদের অবিশ্বস্ত কাজকর্ম বেড়ে চলছে; আমরা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেছি।
Even though our iniquities testify against us, Yahweh, act for the sake of your name. For our faithless actions increase; we have sinned against you.
8 ৮ হে ইস্রায়েলের আশা, কোন একজন যে বিপদের দিন তাকে রক্ষা করে, কেন তুমি এই দেশে পরজাতীয়ের মত, একটি বিদেশী পথিকের মত যে শুধুমাত্র রাত কাটায়?
You are the Hope of Israel, the one who saves him in the time of distress, why will you be like a stranger in the land, like a foreign wanderer who stretches out and spends just one night?
9 ৯ কেন তুমি আলাদা হওয়া লোকের মত হবে, একটি যোদ্ধার মত যে কাউকে রক্ষা করতে সক্ষম না? কারণ হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি আমাদের মধ্যেই আছ! তোমার নাম আমাদের উপরে ঘোষিত আছে। আমাদের ত্যাগ কোরো না।
Why are you like someone who is astounded, or like a warrior who has no power to rescue? You are in our midst, Yahweh, and your name is called over us. Do not leave us!
10 ১০ এই লোকদের বিষয়ে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, “এই ভাবে তারা ঘুরে বেড়াতে ভালবাসে; তারা তাদের পাকে সেই রকম করার থেকে থামায়নি।” সদাপ্রভু তাদের বিষয়ে সন্তুষ্ট না। এখন তিনি তাদের অপরাধ মনে করবেন এবং তাদের পাপের জন্য শাস্তি দেবেন।
Yahweh says this to this people: “Since they love to wander, they have not held back their feet from doing so.” Yahweh is not pleased with them. Now he calls to mind their iniquity and has punished their sins.
Yahweh said to me, “Do not pray for good on behalf of this people.
12 ১২ কারণ যদিও তারা উপবাস করে, আমি তাদের কান্না শুনব না এবং যদি তারা হোমবলি ভক্ষ্য নৈবেদ্য উত্সর্গ করে, আমি তার আনন্দ গ্রহণ করব না। কারণ আমি তরোয়াল, দূর্ভিক্ষ ও মহামারী দিয়ে তাদের হত্যা করব।”
For if they fast, I will not listen to their wailing, and if they offer up burnt offerings and food offerings, I will not take pleasure in them. For I will put an end to them by sword, famine, and plague.”
13 ১৩ তখন আমি বললাম, “হায়, প্রভু সদাপ্রভু! দেখ! ভাববাদীরা তাদের বলছে, ‘তোমরা যুদ্ধ দেখবে না; তোমাদের জন্য দূর্ভিক্ষ হবে না, কারণ আমি এই জায়গায় তোমাদের সঠিক নিরাপত্তা দেব’।”
Then I said, “Oh, Lord Yahweh! Behold! The prophets are saying to the people, 'You will not see the sword; there will be no famine for you, for I will give you true security in this place.'”
14 ১৪ সদাপ্রভু আমাকে বললেন, ভাববাদীরা আমার নামে মিথ্যা ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী বলছে। আমি তাদের পাঠাই নি, তাদের আদেশও দিইনি কিংবা তাদের কিছু বলি নি। কিন্তু মিথ্যা দর্শন, অনর্থক ও মিথ্যা অনুমান তাদের নিজেদের অন্তর থেকে আসছে, সেগুলিই তারা তোমাদের কাছে ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করছে।
Yahweh said to me, “The prophets prophesy deceit in my name. I did not send them out, nor did I give them any command or speak to them. But deceitful visions and useless, deceitful divination coming from their own minds are what they are prophesying to you.”
15 ১৫ তাই সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, “যে সব ভাববাদীরা আমার নামে ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করছে, কিন্তু যাদের আমি পাঠাই নি, তারা যারা বলে, ‘এই দেশে যুদ্ধ বা দূর্ভিক্ষ হবে না।’ ঐ সব ভাববাদীরা যুদ্ধ বা দূর্ভিক্ষে ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে।
Therefore Yahweh says this, “About the prophets prophesying in my name but whom I did not send out—those who say there will be no sword or famine in this land: These prophets will perish by sword and famine.
16 ১৬ সেই লোকেরা, যাদের কাছে তারা ভবিষৎবাণী করেছে, দূর্ভিক্ষ ও যুদ্ধের ফলে তাদের যিরূশালেমের রাস্তায় ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দেওয়া হবে, কারণ কবর দেবার জন্য কেউ থাকবে না; তারা, তাদের স্ত্রীরা, তাদের ছেলেরা, তাদের মেয়েরা; কারণ আমি তাদের দুষ্টতা তাদের উপরেই ঢেলে দেব।
Then the people to whom they prophesied will be thrown out in the streets of Jerusalem because of famine and sword, for there will be no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters—for I will pour out their wickedness on them.
17 ১৭ তাদের কাছে এই কথা বল, আমার চোখে দিন রাত জল বয়ে যাক। তাদের বাধা দিয়ো না, কারণ আমার প্রজার কুমারী মেয়ে আরো ভয়ঙ্কর ও দুরারোগ্য ক্ষতের মাধ্যমে বিনষ্ট হবে।
Say this word to them: 'Let my eyes flow with tears, night and day. Do not let them stop, for there will be a great collapse of the virgin daughter of my people— a great and incurable wound.
18 ১৮ যদি আমি বের হয়ে ক্ষেতে যাই, তবে দেখি! তরোয়াল দিয়ে নিহত হওয়া লোকেরা; আর যদি আমি শহরে আসি, তবে দেখি! দূর্ভিক্ষের জন্য পীড়িত। এমনকি কোনো জ্ঞান ছাড়াই ভাববাদী ও যাজকেরা সেই দেশে ঘুরে বেড়ায়।
If I go out to the field, there are the ones who were killed by the sword! If I come to the city, there are the diseases that are caused by famine. Both the prophet and the priest wander about the land, and they do not know.'”
19 ১৯ তুমি কি যিহূদাকে সম্পূর্ণভাবে অগ্রাহ্য করেছ? তুমি কি সিয়োনকে ঘৃণা কর? কেন তুমি আমাদের এমন কষ্ট দেবে যখন আমাদের জন্য সুস্থতা নেই? আমরা শান্তির আশা করেছিলাম, কিন্তু কিছুই ভালো হল না এবং সুস্থ হবার আশা করেছিলাম, কিন্তু সেখানে শুধুই আতঙ্ক।
Have you completely rejected Judah? Do you hate Zion? Why will you afflict us when there is no healing for us? We hoped for peace, but there was nothing good— and for a time of healing, but see, there is only terror.
20 ২০ হে সদাপ্রভু, আমরা আমাদের অপরাধ, আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের পাপ কাজ স্বীকার করছি; কারণ আমরা সত্যিই তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেছি।
We admit, Yahweh, our offenses, the iniquity of our ancestors, for we have sinned against you.
21 ২১ আমাদের অগ্রাহ্য কোরো না! তোমার নামের জন্য, তোমার গৌরবময় সিংহাসনকে অপমানিত হতে দিয়ো না। আমাদের জন্য স্থাপন করা চুক্তির কথা স্মরণ কর এবং তা ভেঙে ফেল না।
Do not reject us! For the sake of your name, do not make your glorious throne a disgrace. Remember and do not break your covenant with us.
22 ২২ জাতিদের মধ্যে কোনো মূর্ত্তি কি আকাশমণ্ডল থেকে বসন্তের বৃষ্টি আনতে পারে? তুমিই কি সেই জন না, আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, যিনি তা পারেন। আমরা তোমাতেই আশা রাখি, কারণ তুমিই এই সমস্ত কিছু করে থাক।”
Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Or can the skies themselves send down showers? Are you not the one, Yahweh our God? We wait for you, for you are the one who does all these things.
